I have just managed to book a last minute holiday for my family for the last 2 weeks of August. I won't bore you with all the details but we had quite a large house fire and have been put up in a hotel for the last 11 weeks so a Disney fix seemed in order. We are DVC members from the Uk and normally stay at VWL but because of the "last minute" booking can only secure accommodation in a cabin at FW for the first 8 days then off to Saratoga Springs.
My children are 6 and 3 and I am now a bit worried about getting about with them. I have read loads of threads re golf carts and think given my little ones I could probab do with one but my question is this close to my arrival on the 15 aug am I going to get one?
Any thoughts really appreciated. Many Thanks in advance.

call the bike barn, the number has been posted here quite a few times, search by bike barn. You never know about ressies over there. Good Luck. I'd give you the number, but I don't rent a cart.

The Bike Barn number is 407-824-2742. When we were there in the beginning of July, I reserved a cart on July 3 for our arrival on July 5. Just 2 days notice. Call them, you may do alright.

I've stayed in the cabins twice and never seen the need for a cart. Never
waited over 10 min for a bus and had short walks to the bus stop.

We are staying around the same time you are, it too was a last minute trip, and we called and got a golf cart with no problem.:thumbsup2 It is our 3rd trip to the cabins with 4 kids, and the golf cart is a necessity for us! We tried 1 day without it, and felt it was a necessity! Have a good trip!:cool1:

We rented a golf cart because ds is 4 years old and I also worried about all the walking, etc...for him, plus the bus transporatation and waiting. I figured he will be doing enough walking/waiting at the parks.

We're arriving on the 15th also. Staying offsite the first few days while seeing Seaworld. It's our first visit to FW too. I can't decide whether or not to get a cart.

The cart is a lot of fun for the kids, like another Disney ride, and I think you'll be glad to have it.

The decision for a golf cart is a tough one, but it really depends on your vacation style. The carts could save you considerable time by not having to take the internal FW bus transportation. You can drive the cart right to the marina and take the boat to the MK or you can drive to the main bus terminal and take a bus to any of the other parks. So, if you are the maximize every moment type of family, the golf cart will prove efficient. But, if you take things leisurely the bus system can be fun! Have a great time!!!:wizard:

Thanks for everyones advice. I called the barn and the cart is booked!
I think the kids are looking forward to this as much as anything else!*

Heh, thought that was just me!

I have to admit, I love when you're cruising down the road to the marina and then you come to the paths near the restaurant. The paths kind of tree covered and with no cars. Not sure why but I love this part!
