We always go to WDW in May but are going the first two weeks of June 2010 with a DCL cruise in between. :dance3:

How are the crowds and weather at that time of year? Just curious as May has always been a little rainy (except this year when it was raining buckets) but a wonderful time of year to go...

Thanks

It's pretty darned crowded. Midday wait times for rides like Splash and BTMRR can be around an hour, if not longer. Waits for rides like Toy Story Mania and Soarin will be longer - 100+ minutes won't be uncommon. And the weather is typically very hot and humid. We lucked out last June in that it didn't rain much at all, but daily thundershowers are the norm. With the crowds and heat, we typically try to get to parks at opening, tour until lunch, then take a long break in the afternoon. Then we'll return to a park in the evening.

You must have been there after May 16th - I think our last day at WDW (10th-16th) was the last non-monsoon day of the month! ;) We had one strong thunderstorm and a lightly rainy evening on Tuesday (12th) but that was really it for rain. Everything I read after we got home was "rain, rain, rain."

The nice thing is that the parks are open late, so if you have night owls in your party, or you're super-diligent about resting in the afternoon, you can take advantage of those hours. It's a lot more tolerable when the sun goes down!

Early June is nice, nit too crowded, but crowded enough that the "seasonal" attractions are usually open. As you progress through the month, it gets more and more crowded. Weather is similar to May, generally beautiful mornings with spotty, sometimes heavy, afternoon thunderstorms.

The first week of June is usually a great week to go because most of the nortern schools are still in session. I went the first week of June in 2008 and experienced the lowest crowds I've ever encountered. It'll be warm and have some afternoon showers but probably one of the best summer weeks to go.

We plan on May trips in the future probably the third week, what are your experiences then?

We too will be making our first June trip in 2010. However, we will not be arriving until the 19th. Our plan is to splurge and buy the deluxe dining plan so at the height of the day we will be eating. We figure this will be when it is the hottest, most crowded and the best chance for the daily thunderstorm. After lunch our plan is to go back to the room to rest or use the pool and wait until later in the evening to head back to the parks.

For the past 4 years we have gone in early August, but next year we are hoping to go June 4-16. Just waiting on DH's vacation schedule. :rolleyes1

Hopefully it won't be any hotter or more crowded than what we are used to.

We went down this past June 18-30. It was hot, but we planned for that.

We had a light breakfast in the room, went for rope drop most am, and had a late lunch (1:30 - 2:30). After that we decided if we wanted to do more at the park or go back to the pool.

For 3 days it was over 100 degrees!!! On one of those days we went to Epcot and did world showcase (lots of in and out of the A/C) so we were not out in the heat for a long period of time. One day we went to Typhoon and the other to Disney Quest. Just plan for the weather you are dealt.

We had a great time and are returning June 2010 8 - 16th. Maybe we will see some of you there!!!!

We always go around the third week of May and have not been too bothered by the heat or rain (although this year's rain was a doozie) and crowds were never too bad except if we were staying on for the holiday weekend but even then it was manageable.

We are actually leaving Sunday May 30th until June 4th then we head to our 4 night DCL cruise and return to WDW June 8th and head home June 12th. So whatever it will be, we will be "home"...... :)

We have visited WDW, Universal, and Sea World the first two weeks of June for the past 5 years. It is not over crowded, however it is busy. Typically you will encounter a couple weekends of Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios. Weather will be hot, but not July or August hot. We have not experienced vacation changing rain.
We find it works best for us. The beginning of June is when our kids get out of school and it serves as a great reward for getting through another year. We used to go in early December when they were younger, but now I don't think it would be a good idea to miss school for a week.

We got really lucky this year when we went. We went june 4-11? i think and the weather was great!! It was right after the monsoon and we had afternoon thundershowers every day but not bad, we felt that it really helped cool off the day. The temps were fantastic. It was in the 80's most days and the last day was really hot and we were at AK so that was to be expected.

As the PP stated, it was busy with splash and BTM around 50 to 60 minutes. Toy story got to around 90 to 100 + minutes. We were really glad that we had gotten our VIP fast passes for it and Everest since we bought BLT down there this trip. We were disappointed that Space Mountain was down. Oh well, it will be back for our Feb 2010 trip.

Have a great time!!
