Hi and welcome to the DIS :)

We stayed at the Best Western Plaza on our first trip to Florida back in 1997 :)

It's a nice hotel, clean and tidy. Nice rooms and pool area. Nothing spectacular, but a good base for your holiday.
The location is good, close to shops and restaurants.
You can also use the I-Ride trolley to get up and down I-drive for about $7 per week!

Any question please fire away :)

Hi and welcome,

As you are visiting during the summer, the best advice is to get to the parks early in the day, have a break in-between and return in the evening.
This way you will potentially miss the worst of the heat and crowds.

Ensure you plan some rest days in your stay for shopping/relaxing etc as visiting the parks (whilst a brilliant experience), can be tiring if you try and visit them every day.
You will find if you take everything at a lesiurely pace then the whole experience will be much more enjoyable and you will take so much more in.

You will have a great holiday ahead anyway :thumbsup2

Hi David, welcome,i can only agree with the other guys who probably have a better knowledge of orlando than me.Just take things at a nice easy pace and enjoy.Do some research and see how much there is to do.Dont worry about not doing it all (ITS VAST) so like the rest of us you will want to get back again.
Have a great time and when you get back tell us all about it. :wave2:

We've flown into Sanford a couple of times. Airport is very small compared to MCO. Excellent access though for car hire.

Sounds as though you have all of the tickets you need, have you made any ADRs?

Anything in particular you would like to know?

Is this a duplicate thread, just there is another one "our first florida hol", maybe one of them was moved from another forum?

i hope you have a wonderful time, it sounds like you're all set for a holiday full of thrills!

excel (im assuming you mean the guys that fly for TCD), they're OK, friendly and helpful enough but you've gotta remember that you're flying with a low cost airline....the planes aren't luxury and there might be a wonky tray table or a light out in the bathroom but it's taking you to the holiday of a lifetime (or one of many....holidays that is, not lifetimes!) and it'll get you home. They're pretty comfortable and the aircraft do their job...the most important thing is you enjoy the trip while you're grounded....your flights only last 8/9 hours each way....your holiday lasts much longer :D

thankyou for all the kind words, sorry to sound stupid but wat does adr stand for minniespal? and yes this is a duplicate i put the first thread in the wrong place you can tell its our first time on a forum!! :lmao: i really want to try fultons crab house, scifi diner, race rock, bahama breeze and is there any others that anybody really recomends. Is there easy transport arrangments to get to nasa as because i drive for aliving we have not hired a car this time(hope i dont regret it!)
many thanks bye david :thumbsup2

'ADR' stands for Advance Dining Reservation (or request?), basically you can book restaurants at WDW up to 180 days in advance of your stay.

Sorry not a dining expert generally but there are many on here who will be along to help no doubt.

Hi Allenclan,
Please think carefully about not hiring a car when you go out there. Everything is on a massive scale in America. If you are not bothered about driving, I would advise you to hire a car. If you stay on I Drive, you can use the trolley bus, but this is limited. I, too cover many miles in my profession, here in the UK, but wouldn't be without a car over there.
Have a fab time. You'll love it!!!
Tracy

Hi, great to see another northern person :thumbsup2

The only tip i can give, and all depends on the ages of the kids.

This is for your trip home, and is to book the guest house, for the airport, we love this, it is a quiet area which has to be booked as places are limited, free soft drinks and you get 2 alcoholic beverages, there is a games room for the toddlers, playstaions, tv room and internet.

You also can places your hand luggage in duckets so no need to carry them around with you when shopping in duty free.

Think it was $19 each, but well worth it.

Hi allenclan :wave2:

I'm in the same position as you in that it's my first time over to the World so I'm paying very close attention to all the info you're being given. I'm in Sunderland so it looks like it's excitement all round up this neck of the woods :)

Hope you have a great trip

thankyou everybody and headzila i hope you all have a great time, and i bet you are all as exited as us,we fly at 12.10 from newcastle on 27/7/06 my son is 15 my daughter 11 and we are taking my nephew who is 13(while my brother and his wife goto the maldives!) we will probably hire a car some of the time over there if we need it :teeth: :teeth:
bye david

Hi allanclan
We have, not flew with excel but I watched Trolley Dollies on sky last year I think, and it was excel airways cabin crew they looked really good fun,the planes looked nice, I no it was made for tv but it made me want to fly with them ,that probably being the intension.
Bennigans on I-Drive is a really good meal and quite cheap and 2 for 1 drinks from 5-7 also Tony Romas for there ribs.
We dont drive and we got around ok I am sure I looked at the best western plaza before and thought they did free transfers to the parks maybe i,m wrong but if so it will probably be town and country well thats an experiance but at least you will get there. If not a return taxi is about $60 or get the number 50 lynx bus to disney ,i think you have to get off and change near seaworld but it is only a few dollars.
