Well we just got back from SSR, we are not complainers, we are not well to do, we are generally very happy with whatever is plopped down in front of us. I have NEVER sent anything back to the kitchen, if that gives you an idea of what I'm like.

SSR is a beautiful, huge resort. It is fairly well maintained considering its age. The staff was more polite than im used to at other resorts.

That said, the quick service food is pretty rough - I know they're trying to keep the menu small but we ended up buying quite a bit of our food there which was probably a mistake. The park food is superior, maybe I'd like something in between sit down and cold sandwiches. *shrug*

Our studio room was OK, but the tub was physically dirty, as was the couch (we stayed in a studio). I could see with my man-eyes (not the most discerning as the women know) that the couch and tub were soiled. It left me wondering what else wasn't cleaned. They gave me one "pouch" of coffee which I didn't care about as I brought my own. Unfortunately I brought one bag of unground coffee so I found myself kinda wanting some more pouch coffee. Not enough to pay $5 to the maid for more. Just leave me a couple you scrooges! When the maids came mid week they left me one more pouch. gee, thanks. and yeah i get they make the coffee at the restaurant, but that nescafe is garbage. I can say that, nestle is local.

Someone had stolen our network cable. Luckily I bring my own.

While I get that Disney isn't the place to get trashed on booze, i dont get why the bar closes at 6pm. To me this is just silly.

At times I waited for a bus up to 30 mins. Maybe twice it was that long. twice is enough. While I don't expect more buses I think the resorts need to figure things out a little better - maybe a short shuttle to a hub resort? There is a lot of distance between SSR and pretty much everywhere else.

I ordered flowers for my girl while we were there. Excuse me, but they were expensive. That's fine, I don't mind, but when they didn't show up when they were supposed to I was annoyed. I called the front desk and they acted like I was not a smart person and put it on the florist rather than looking. In the AM I called the florist who had the signature card, the flowers had been signed for. They were sitting in some back room at the resort. I called back down and they were found and would be "brought right up" - weak.

I ordered a gift cert for valentines day for my girl for the spa. I know its not like a "disney" spa but the knuckleheads misspelled both of our names on the dang thing. Kinda silly when I spelled them both out, and it wasn't "cheap" so um PAY ATTENTION. For a place that has NO reservations you think they'd be a little more careful.

Also, how come the maid only shows up when you dont want her there? LOL.

Oh well, for the most part great service. Minor things bug me though, but people are people :) I agree with what others have said about the SSR furnishings though, they need a little TLC...

In closing, I am not disappointed by my DVC purchase but I suspect we will not be back to SSR.

SSR seems to be hit or miss with the buses I have stayed there twice and had no issues, didn't wait more than 10 minutes for a bus and others have said they have waited as long as you did.

As for the bar, are you talking about the one at the pool? There is a lounge right outside the Turf Club Restaurant that shares a bar with the restaurant and I thougt it was open until 11 pm.

As for the Coffee, that is standard I think, I don't drink coffee so I have to bring my own tea cause Disney doens't leave tea bags at all.

this trip I have had good luck with the buses but in the past it has been a problem...
As for the coffee....when I stay at BWV and here in the past I have always gotten 2 or 3 coffee packets with each maid visit...this trip like posted only 1!!!!!! I did not bring coffee this time so it is bumming me but I did buy the refillable mug so that helps.
I agree I would contact member satisfaction but dirty tub you should have called right away...unacceptable

you know it didnt really bother me, as im a man and everywhere i go I leave a wake of filth. Till Wednesday when I woke up under the weather and needed to soak in the tub then its like BLEH. If you dont understand my selective germophobia, dont worry, i dont either.

also, in the past i was a real big opponent of using things like purell. Next trip Im going to bring a gallon of the junk. I know I got sick because of the lack of projectile control on the little snotters at the park. (I know I'm not a dad, but I am a big brother. Teaching your kids a little discretion, i.e. discipline, is always encouraged ;P )

I was, I didn't realize there was another lounge. my fault. I am a bit too cheap for $7-9 booze anyway, but sometimes the mood just hits you... generally near the hot tub ;)

speaking of... this Sam Adams I just pulled out of my fridge probably cost me $1. They're way better at $1 instead of $7 :)

As members we pay for the coffee. Since most people don't use the Disney coffee, you get one pouch. Used to get one caf and one decaf, but that changed a few years ago. If you want more coffee, you can purchase more from the resort. It will be the same at any DVC resort you stay at.

If you can't find the ethernet cable, you just contact Housekeeping to bring you one. It's usually in the closet on a hanger.

It bothers me too that the poolside bars at SSR close so early. They too should stay open till 11:00 PM. I believe Hurricane Hannah's at BCV stays open that late.

Yup, SSR has a big problem with Disney Florist deliveries - we have had problems 3 trips in a row.

1st time, we thought it was perhaps the Florist's fault (even though they assured us it wasn't) and we left it at that.

2nd trip (10 months later) when the same thing happened, we knew it was SSR's fault. I talked to the same manager (the woman), who once again blamed the florist. I reminded her that this happened last trip, and I spoke to her, and she said that she would look into it. Approx. 30 mins later (it was pretty late), they came up with our basket as they said it was just 'located'. When I spoke to the Florist the next day, they had confirmation that it was dropped off in the morning, and had been sitting in back all day long.

3rd trip same issues with delivery. This time I marched myself down to desk after speaking with Florist, and they once again 'located' my basket from somewhere out back.

I once again brought up the fact that they needed to improve this area of their resort and they really didn't say much to me as I had proof of this happening for 3 trips now. I left a note for manager, and did let MS know, but they basically said there wasn't much they could do as deliveries are scheduled within the resorts, and so it is up to them to get the packages to their guests. I didn't make a big deal of it, as it seems to me this is an area that they don't care deeply about.

We aren't staying at SSR for awhile as we find the Epcot area is much better for us with small kids, but next time we do, we won't schedule it during our summer birthdays, as this resort just can't seem to get it right. We've stayed pretty much everywhere, and this is the only resort that has the same delivery issues on a consistent basis.

Sorry you experienced this, but as someone who has BTDT, it doesn't surprise me at all.

They usually offer around 10 different flavors of Sam Adams during F&W. DW and I are buying. Our 27th wedding anniversary!!

i had my own. the ethernet bag was there, the cable had been "swiped" by likely the last person to stay there.

as far as the coffee. Sure, I agree with you, I would have been willing to pay for it. $5 for one more pouch? no, thats not agreeable. If they wanted to say NOT put coffee in rooms because it gets swiped or thrown out or wasted, ok fine. I think it would be reasonable to provide complimentary coffee on request. I dont want to get hung up on this, most of my complaints are trifling

Yes I know we pay for the coffee...I have owned since 2000 and up until this visit I have gotten 2 or 3 packets each maid visit....this has been the first time I have only gotten 1 and was not prepared for that so did not bring extra....funny it is the 1st time I haven't brought my own. I would just like it if they would let you know. I was here last March during the mug debacle , I had mugs in my room for one week then all of a sudden there were none, no note no explanation ...its a good thing I had a computer and found out on Dis what was going on. They also now only give you 4 paper plates and Never replace those either. (at SSR so it is hard to find a maid, and all their supplies are in baskets for the day , I have tried leaving a note too , I feel stupid calling housekeeping for paper plates, feel they should be replaced each maid visit. When you are here for 3 weeks you don't feel like having to constantly call for stuff.

All I can say is rent a car. That way you can always head offsite to get anything you want at the nearby Walmart, including Pabst which is cheaper than Sam Adams.

There's a gas station about 2 minutes from SSR that sells good coffee.

As far as the coffee I think it's hit or miss! 2/3 of the time I've gotten just one, and the other 1/3 I've come in and found two but I bring my own anyway so it doesn't matter. In the villas I thought the point was to give you one to get you started.

Regarding the dirty tub, well I don't mind cleaning up after myself and family but I don't come on vacation to clean up after soeone else, so if dirty I would have called mousekeeping. I never use the big tub due to the fact that I can't get my son out of it!

I haven't been to Disney since Oct 08, at this point I'd settle for any resort! Ic an't wait till Jun 2 1/2 more months to wait!

Pabst?? Ewww.

We just got back from our first trip to SSR, and I must say that I absolutely loved it! This was our first DVC stay ever, and I was so pleasantly surprised. We also stayed in a Studio.

SSR was beautiful! :lovestruc All the green lawns and fountains. I felt like I was staying at a country estate. We stayed in Congress Park. My room was clean. I found no issues with anything not being clean. I don't like the way they make the beds, but I have that issue with most hotels. :sad2: We actually had many packets of coffee - 2 different kinds even - the regular kind and a French roast. My little basket was overflowing with coffee. My sister's room did not have all that coffee, so it might have been left by the previous guest. I actually left unopened packages of paper products for the next guest, so sometimes it is just luck. We had extra shampoo and body wash too, tucked into a towel made into a swan.

We only took the bus twice, as we had a car. The wait at SSR was not bad, but coming back the bus took forever. I did find that Artist's Palette had limited food choices, but we loved the Turf Club.

All in all I thought SSR was a magical place , and I cannot wait to get back there (and we bought at AKV!) :)

We had a problem our first stay at SSR with our room in Congress Park...but nothing that a call to the front service/mousekeeping didn't take care of. We had a clean 2 br. in no time after that. They are really good about making things right. I would have called and asked for it to be cleaned. Did you notice it the first or 2nd day??? I would never stay in a room when it is dirty.

Also, we do a grocery stop on our way in and my dh always buys coffee along iwth our other stuff. Even in a studiio you could do a grocery stop or order and have things delivered. I know you can even get beer delivered. If it is just coffee you would need....pack it next time. I know it doesn't make up for the past trip...just for future reference. However I would report your unclean studio to the powers that be.
