Final installment of our 13 day saga to the Worlds!
July 13 - Yes, Friday the 13 and I have scheduled my DH's Richard Petty's King's driving experience for today. I had taken the time earilier while at Epcot to book my Fantasmic Dinner ressie for Hollywood and Vine. We have to be at the track by 11am so we eat a late bkfst at the condo and pack a lunch to eat after the driving experience. Unfortunately, the skies do not look very favorable. Yesterday there was a reported 5 inches of rain at the Airport. We also haven't heard of any reports of fires starting either. Maybe FL is over this for the summer! We get to the track before 10:30, and my DH is excitedly nervous! They go thru the training video and we step outside to see looming black skies. They ride around the track in the Van when the bottom drops out of clouds for about 15 min. I've been to the Atlanta Raceway after a rain delay and know it takes at least a couple of hours to dry the track w/ jet dryers, and that is if it dosen't rain again. It take them about 20min to decided they can't get this in today. My DH is dissapointed but I do remind him he can reschedule this at ANY RPDE track, including Atlanta. We will reschedule when we get our raincheck letter.
We head over to MGM to repeat our favorites. We get a FP for TOT and then stand in line for Mermaid. I enjoy this, the "boys' just tag along. We do TOT and really enjoy it again. We get PF's for RRC but they are over an hour away. We go to the Indiana Jones show and as they are fighting one of the stuntmen really became injured. They stopped the show and we had to leave. We let the kids play at HISTK's playground and then go to the RRC. DS2 and DH decided not to ride so I ride w/ DS1 twice. Once in back, and it was really rough. DS1 wants to ride in front next time and suprisingly it is much smoother! We head back over to Indiana Jones (getting FP for ST first) and see the whole show this time. DS's and I do ST. We watch the Muppet 3-D and this is really quite cute! Off to H&V for our Fantasmic show dinner. We enjoyed this buffet more than any other. The chicken, salad, steak and salmon were all very tasty and there was plenty for the kids also. We catch the GMR again before going to Fantasmic "Gas station" entrance. This is where We see the sign for 80 days till the 100 day celebration start! We get seated for Fantasmic and notice it is already filling up fast. There are lots of Turismo groups trying to out yell each other!! My DS's talk me into one of the lighted spinner things. The show begins and I am rivited by it! This is by far the best Fireworks show the WDW puts on!! Projecting against fountians, the character boats and Mickey's triumph is a great show! I would have loved to stay and see it again, but we were tired and headed back to the Hilton to rest up for our last day!!
July 14 - We spend a little of the morning getting things straight for the trip back. We had a promising weather forcast so we head toward Typhoon Lagoon. We get there about 11a and had to search a bit but did find a couple of open loungers. We head toward the wave pool and the kids love it! After about 30 min we are ready for something more sedate. We check out a couple of slide rides but the lines are pretty long, so we decide to do the lazy river trip. This is very similar to White Water in Atlanta. We go back to the wave pool and get batted around for another 30 min and grab some lunch there. I called CarolineS at the Poly. She had invited us over to their pool this afternoon. We go by and have a fun time at the Volcano pool. About 45min later a thunderstorm blew up and drove us inside. We all change clothes and enjoy the Poly Concierge for a light dinner. We head over to MK one more time to ride our favorites again! DH and Caroline's mom did AE. They said it really wasn't that scary. We have to wait 90min till our SM FP time so the Sowell's head to TOONTOWN and we do the Astro Orbiter and TTA (at least the 7th time this trip! our MOST ridden ride!) We all meet back to do SM. Then head over to SM and BTMR. The Parade route is getting ready so we hope we will be able to these rides a few times. We all do BTMR 3 times and head over to SM. We had the boat full with our party. The only time I got wet was from the boats coming down the mountian. We caught a great pic and we all bought a copy. They ride SM again and I meet up w/ DH and DS2. The rode BTMR 6 times!! Then the Fireworks start! We see them 'from behind' and the smoke does get in the way some. We take the Resort MR back to the Poly and see the Electric Light Parade on the Seven Seas Lagoon. We can just about see the entire thing at once! We say good-bye to our friends and WDW, enjoying a perfect ending to a wonderful trip!
July 15 - Time to depart back to Atlanta. We make good time back home, except for stopping at the world's slowest McD's and hitting some construction traffic. It is 451 miles door to door, and about 7 hrs.
I look forward to going back again at Christmas time to see all the new wonders WDW has in store for us!!
