We've stayed at OKW 3 times and SSR 1 time. DH is in love with OKW. I love the decor of BCV. After begging and getting through the waitlist we get to visit BCV.
We get off our Carnival Cruise and are pulling in at 10am. Immediately the greeter/bellhop tells us no way we can check in early. It's Super Soap Weekend and all the soap stars have priority. I get out to try and DH parks the car. I get in and tell CM I'm a little nervous. Never stayed at BCV and DH really likes OKW. He's very nice and tells me he has a room almost ready. I tell him the Bellhop said no way. He said he would have a talk with him, that he shouldn't tell people that when it's not true...sorry Mr. Bellhop. I didn't mean to get you into trouble. Since we've never been to BCV he offers me the 4th floor and I ask if there are elevators. I must had looked pretty stupid in retrospect. He says of course, isn't there elevators at OKW? I say no, not all of the buildings. He says "hmm"
We go to Earl of Sandwich and after we finish our room is ready (room 472). It's a one bedroom. It's small compared to OKW and when we haul our 8 bags of groceries it takes a few trips. The room is in okay shape. It has some wear and tear, but it is no big deal. Our house has some wear and tear too
We don't go to any parks today. We are still using our 10 day non expire hopper tickets. From now on I think we'll have to get AP's. It's just to hard to figure what day we're going and then feeling like we had to stay there all day to get the most of our ticket. Unfortunately DH didn't acknowledge that we would be going to WDW for 17 days this year which would had been better with AP's.
Sunday we go to Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival. It's the last day and it's so crowded. Monday DH and DS13 go to the Epcot Aqua Sea Tour. They absolutely loved it. They went "snube-ing" on the cruise and after this they want to start scuba diving. My other DS14 and I stay at home and relax. (if we had AP's we could have gone to the park and watched
) The boys love the freedom of BCV. They come and go as they please and I don't have to worry about them crossing the roads to get to the activities unlike OKW.
Tuesday we go to AK in the morning. It's pretty warm. We take a break in the afternoon and the boys decide to walk to Epcot and ride Test Track and Mission Space again. That, I believe is the best point of being at BCV. A 5 minute walk and you're there!
Wednesday we head to MGM. It was so humid! The last time we saw the Stunt show it had just rained. We saw it again on Wednesday and what a difference! It seemed like Fantasmic added more fireworks at the end since we last saw it in January.
So all in all I have to say we still like OKW the best. Good news for you BCV fans since we won't be fighting for those waitlists with you
We did try Stormalong Bay. I think the boys are just to old for it. They would rather go to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. They hardly used the pool area at all. Thumbs up
for the arcade and Beaches and Cream. The boys went to both places everyday. They either had a milk shake, cone or root beer float. We loved
, loved

being 5 minutes away at Epcot. The boys enjoyed the freedom to roam around and go to Epcot with a short walk. They did try the Friendship boat to MGM and found they'd rather ride with us and drive there. BCV was a great resort to visit, but we missed the space of OKW. We like the condo type setting of having your car outside your door and not having to walk down a hotel type situation. Especially with a ton of groceries. Not many welcome homes since it seems like BCV is first and formost a hotel. Of course I'm probably wrong, but it's just my honest opinion so no flames please
We miss watching the golfers in a larger balcony. We missed the slow pace and quietness of it all. DH works in a fast paced enviroment 5 to 6 days a week. When he's on vacation he wants to relax
Enjoy,
Deb
PS The room we were in did not have a new mattress or the new type sofa bed at SSR. I know some people were wondering at some point.
Oh, also we got to see some Christmas decorations all around WDW. At BCV they were starting to make the carousle (sp?) and the best part was trying the gingerbread that they make it out of
