I have never written a trip report....well wait, strike that....I might have started one and never finished, but I am determined to finish this one this time!!
A little background on us! We've been going to WDW every year since 1983 at least once. I worked as part of the WDWCP in WDW in 2001. This was to be our "last family trip" according to my parents. Yeah, like we haven't heard that before! Nice try mom! Does she really think she will be able to watch us go when she has grandkids?? Not a chance! She'll be the trip planner!
This time we decided to fly down Friday Feb. 22 and stay at SSR until Sunday March 2.
Here is the cast:
Me (27): Trip planner and Disney fanatic! I was not allowed to plan as much this trip because they thought my spreadsheets with times was too much! Let's see if they really missed them!
DBF (34): Has only been to Disney twice, once with me, once with an ex. With his ex he stayed in a campground somewhere near Claremont and our trip last June was just for three days. This was to be a whole different trip for him! Nine days, sharing a room with my sister at SSR.
Dmom (58): The leader of our pack. A general Disney lover, but now just along for the ride. When we were little she was the one who would take us on the thrill rides, and she still rides a few. She swears this is our "last family trip."
Ddad (56): Loves everything Disney like I do. Not as much of a planner though! He actually did not want to go to Disney when my mom suggested it for their honeymoon, thought it was just for kids. Who owns DVC now? Oh yeah...my dad!
Dsis (22): What to say about her. She is my sister of course and I love her. She is a bit tempermental...ok downright nasty depending on the day! She actually surprised us by being nice for the first two days of our trip! She'll ride anything with us.
Sister's Boyfriend (22): Literally just tagging along. He is not a Disney fan, nor does he really like rides. He comes because it is a family thing. This will be his second trip with the family. They've been together for almost 5 years so he is definitely part of the family!
During the months leading up to the trip I planned and I planned. I looked at every Disney website I could and tried to find the best deals. We ended up with a great deal on a car and in the end we also saved about $900 on our airline tickets. You just have to love Southwest. In the process though our flight times changed several times!
Day 1, Feb 22: The day I had been waiting for for 6 months finally arrived. I was so excited all day, the kids must hve thought I was nuts! I had been wearing Mickey sweaters as a countdown to the trip the past few days! We all had to work all day Friday. My mom, sister and I are in education while my DBF works for the cable co. and my sister's boyfriend is a mechanic. My dad, well he is now retired. A fact that he continually rubs in the face of anyone who will talk to him about it! We got it Dad, you have lots of free time!
I left school around 3pm to get home and finish packing. We were taking two cars and we'd leave when my DBF and my sister's boyfriend got out of work.
The weather was horrible! Snow, snow and more snow! The roads were so terrible that the cable company called all their drivers off the road, except those who still had customer contacts (any job requiring them to talk to the customer). Well, you guessed it, at 3pm I talked to DBF and he had three customer contacts left!
That could take six hours, epsecially with the bad weather and their 2 wheel drive sleds...I mean vans. They slide all over the road.
I started to get nervous. What if we miss our flight? What if it is cancelled due to the weather? That would take precious Disney time away from me!!
As I am having a minor melt down at home DBF calls. One of his coworkers who knows he is going on vacation at 9pm has offered to take his last three jobs!
Darren
You are the best! He was 30 mins from home but with the weather it took him close to and hour and a half to get home, so he didn't get back until 5. Ok, not bad. I'm not freaking out anymore, well about him getting home, but what if our flight is cancelled?
We put on our matching shirts my mom had made for the whole family. See the trip was a "birthday/christmas" present. Meaning, they bought our plane tickets for us!
Thanks Mom!
We met the rest of the family for dinner at the Aiport Diner and had a rather uneventfuly meal. The airport was easy too! Not even delayed! How come when the weather is nice we were delayed by four hours and when there is a small blizzard we are on time?
We made it to SSR to check in and got exactly the location we wanted, the springs. We settled in for a short sleep...but how can you sleep when it's your first night in Disney?
Up next our first day at DAK. And maybe I can figure out how to post pictures!

We couldn't decide where in DAK to eat so why not go back and use the DDE at Artist's Pallette? The we can take a nap after! Yep, I am super smart.
You thought that was overplanning. Beginning to regret it now huh?
I don't feel bad for you!
Ok I get it...no sharing! Or on Christmas Eve when she refused to let DBF and I sleep in the king bed at my parents house because it was in her old room. We slept on the daybed while she slept alone in the king. I don't get it!
I nodded through my tears and there was fumbling with the ring. People cheered, one guy yelled to say no. Main St. pretty much cleared out for us. The photopass woman took a bunch of pictures that all came out blurry! When all was said and done my first workds to him (remember I didn't say yes, I nodded) were.......
I was worried this since I knew it was coming eventually, and since I had already cried when he told me it would be my grandmother's diamond, that I wouldn't cry when he finally asked. No need to worry apparently. No makeup will be needed on our wedding day....it'll be gone in two seconds!
