We just got back today and I don't have a trip report ready but definitely the best part of our trip was Goofy's Kitchen. We had done GK one other time 2 or 3 years ago and we loved it then.

Out of everything we did- Trick or Treat Party, Blue Bayou, Trattoria, rides, shows, parades etc- the kids and adults alike loved Goofy's!! We don't do buffets in general so my kids loved picking out and getting their own food. Go figure! Something as simple as doing a buffet was so much fun to them. They also loved the characters even my 11 year old! I guess she's not too old yet to love a good character hug. My ds couldn't stop hugging everyone even if he had already hugged that particular character!!:goodvibes

Worth every penny!

I agree, KKmcan! I am so glad to see a positive review of Goofy's because it seems like most folks are beginning to prefer Storytellers for character breakfasts, but we still love Goofy's. And we have no kids! First of all, in 16 years of eating there, we have only maybe two 'off' days in terms of characters. Some days, the characters are coming so fast and furious that we can't even get food into our mouths but there have been a couple of days here and there where the characters are sleeping or not on the ball. And as for food, generally the quality is great. They keep the food fresh and bountiful and the fruit is amazing. The juice is cold and the coffee is strong and hot. The selection of food is outstanding - better than at Storytellers because buffet is ALL Goofy's does, so they have a better spread than ST Cafe. There have been a couple of days since 1992 where the eggs were kind of lukewarm or the bacon was too salty, but generally, it is all good. This last time, we spotted the Mickey-shaped peach cobbler for the first time. I had already stuffed myself so I couldn't eat any, but I loved that it was there! I almost grabbed some of the pepperoni pizza too, but restrained myself.

Also, the thing I love about Goofy's is that you never know exactly which characters will be there. You know you will see the staples, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale, and often Baloo. But other ones show up too, like the Mad Hatter, Alice, Belle, Aladdin, Jasmine, etc. I love the way Baloo dances when it is time for them all to do the Macarena. He has such wide hips that it is hard for him to rotate them around!

Anyway, I am not thrilled with the prices at Goofy's but I do think the meals are worth the money. I agree. I don't like how they force you into taking a photo with Pluto - which inevitably comes out very cute - and then show it to you to tempt you, but charge as much as the meal costs for it!!!! If it were half that price, I might buy it, but no way I am paying what my meal costs for a photo (and ours was cute!).

My family has never done a character meal. I would like to do one in Feb. when we go. Which is the best breakfast, lunch,or dinner? Im going to check online for prices. Im not sure about spending so much money for a meal but I feel we should at least do it once.:confused3

We love breakfast with Lilo & Stitch at PCH Grill in the Paradise Pier. I have purposely avoided Goofy's in the past (first we didn't have kids and now I worry about DS being too distracted by all the chaos and characters to eat). But, I think I'm going to go ahead and book Goofy for breakfast on our upcoming Christmas trip.

Don't miss your chance for a character meal at Goofy's Kitchen. I have done all of the character meals at DLR and GK is THEE BEST ONE!! More character variety, more characters, more food with a better set up so you really aren't filed by the food in a line.
My DS is 18 and autistic. The characters at GK have always stopped and spent some real quality time with him.
One time my DS picked up his napkin (while standing) and was waving it at Dale like a matador. Dale put his finger up to his head like bull horns and started scraping the floor with his feet. He went charging at my DS, who pulled up the napkin just like a matador would, and Dale went charging out the side door we were standing by, across the little patio, and out the patio gate where he stopped and was looking around, scratching his head like "How did I get out here?" Meanwhile, inside, my DS was laughing so hard I thought he was gonna fall over. I wish I would've had my camera rolling!!
We do GK a couple times a year.:thumbsup2

We just adore Goofy's as well. We eat there at least once every trip. My favorite memory there is from our trip when my youngest son was 18 months old. He fell in love with Cinderella that trip. We had one of the earliest seatings for dinner so there weren't many people there yet. He spotted Cinderella across the room and started calling "Ella, Ella" (That's all he could say of her name and it was sooo cute:goodvibes ) Cinderella kissed him on the cheek which left a "lipstick kiss". My favorite picture of my youngest DS is with him in the highchair at Goofy's with Cinderella behind him. He is looking up at her with his lipstick kissed cheek showing and you can tell from his expression that he just adores her! Now he is all Buzz, Mickey, Stitch and Goofy, but that little boy crush on the Princesses stage was sooo cute!

We did Goofys Kitchen probably 6 years ago. My wife always talks about how good the Bacon was back then.

We now have a three year old and it sounds like we need to schedule a breakfast there as we are going back to DL for the second time ever.

We like Goofys for dinner...this last trip we did dinner on the day we arrived (After what seemed days on the bus..it was only a few hours) and it was great the food was good we saw Alice,Mulan,Goofy,Chip,Pluto. (We were tired and so was the munchkin) So we didn't hang around for Dale. But it was a good start to a fun trip.

We went for dinner one night and it was good!!! The interaction was great, and this is gonna be our first stop every time we go to to DL.... we get in mid day so its a good way to get excited for the next day!!! We go to goofys then DTD!!!!!

Thats what exactly what we did...a quick stop a World of Disney to grab his photo/autograph book for dinner...and the we were off to dinner. The night we were they CMs were telling people that they were turning walk ins away...it was the night of Mileys b-day party.

When we went it was half empty and it was great!!!! The charecters kept coming back over and over!!!!:lovestruc

Okay here's my tip of the day. I'll say it very quietly so not everyone finds out.

Get one of the later brunch times about 30-40 minutes before they close.

Doing this allows you to hit the park at opening for the least amount of waiting and when you are good and hungry then you head over to Goofy's. Our PS was at 11:20. There just a handful of tables left by then and we almost had the place to ourselves. We take our time, eat a lot, visit with characters, the kids dance and then we eat some more. We were the last table to leave and by then all the characters were just hanging out at our table goofin around. We were taking pictures and laughing and being silly. The waiters took control of our cameras so that all of us could be in the pictures.

We saw Baloo, Goofy, Pluto, Belle, Alice and Chip and Dale. Last time we went we saw the Mad Hatter (loved him!), Jasmine, Rafiki, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Belle and Donald.

Pst.... Don't tell anyone my secret tip!

wow, so good to hear the great reviews. I have just booked this for brunch for our first full day at the park - well 8am anyway! I really wanted to start with that, so should be fun.

We are celebrating DS's 6th birthday so have also booked the birthday bag, and they are going to organise a cake as well - the people at Disney are so nice!

Can't wait!

We went to Goofy's Kitchen during our last trip and had no planned on going next year for our next trip.

But DS kept asking if we could go again, and DH and I caved in.

We will be going on March 28th - the day we arrive at the parks. We figure after our flight and everything, we will be good and hungry for dinner. Plus it is a great way to start our vacation!!

DS ate sooo good there! He is a fruit & veggie boy, and he loved the selection of fresh fruit. I think he ate half his weight in watermelon (and he is 11 years old!).

DH loved the prime rib.

Has anyone recently done the pre-purchase of vouchers for Goofy's from GAT? If so, how much were they? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

Chalk up another one for GK. :thumbsup2

We used this same tactic. After checking into the hotel, we only had a couple hours in the park, so we opted for GK to make our first day extra special. We have enjoyed it both times we went. When re-capping with the family on the way home about what our favorites were, we all agreed hands down that our favorite meal was GK. Even Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans didnt compare in my eyes.

We also ended our trip on the last day with breakfast at Minnies since our time was limited in the park that day as well. :)

Another shout out for Goofy's! We just took our first family trip to DLR the first week of October and started our trip off with Goofy's Dinner. We had not yet been into the parks. We have two kids, dd3 and ds5. They LOVED Goofy's. We saw Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, Jasmine, Minnie, the Fairy Godmother. All the characters, especially Goofy and Pluto were at our table SO much it was actually hard to eat our meal...although we weren't complaining, we loved it and the kids were SO excited to get so much personal attention from EVERY character. During one of the dances the characters did, Goofy even danced with my daughter. Upon planning the dinner, I honestly did not think it would be worth the money, but wanted to do something special for our first trip. Needless to say the kids kept asking if we could go back every night, and for future trips we will certainly make Goofy's our family character meal tradition.

This is going to seem wierd, but...

Has anyone gone to a character meal with kids who definately DON'T love the characters? My kids like to see them, but not close. Not hugging. They didn't like to get up with the parade. We had pictures taken w/characters last time but DS didn't want them to talk or look at him.

A character dinner *sounds* fun, but I think my kids would both rather just watch the characters interact with other kids than actually be in that situation themselves.

Any input?
