This is my first attempt at a planning journal so please bear with me.
A little about us: My fiance, 32 (we will call him Prince Charming), and I, 30 (I will be Cinderella in Love
met in high school when he was 15 and I was 14. My parents had a strict "no dating" rule but we developed a close friendship spending lunches together, going to school dances, and he would carry my books to class each day. Our Junior year of high school my father took a job promotion and we moved to a new town. In true Romeo and Juliet-esque fashion we were torn apart but kept in touch by writing letters the old fashioned way. After high school we lost touch as often happens in life. I began dating and became engaged in my early twenties to someone else. Gulp! My parents evetnually moved back to our old town.
On the evening of my rehearsal dinner (to the other guy) the executive chef made an appearance. I almost passed out. It was Prince Charming. He took me aside and told me if things didn't work out with "whatever his name was" to keep him in mind...that he never stopped loving me. I was an idiot and married the wrong guy. Long story short: It didn't work out.
A year after my divorce Prince Charming tracked me down through a mutual friend and we began dating long distance. It felt right from the beginning!!! I can't even communicate how perfect and meant to be everything was...like picking up where we left off only better! In addition, there is a very painful and sad situation with my son's biological father but Prince Charming has really stepped in and has been an amazing father figure. One evening at dinner the little guy (we will call him baby Mickey) said to Prince Charming, "Please stay with us forever and marry my mom because I love you so much and you are my favorite buddy." Heartwarming!!!
Prince Charming re-located to be closer to us from 900 miles away. He left his high paying job for a lesser paying one near us to "write our story together", as he romantically refers to things. Six months after re-locating he proposed on a trip to Napa, CA. After a pizza dinner he kneeled down on one knee holding out a beautiful ring and said with a smile, " I love you and this ring comes with a question...Will you marry me?" I said YES!!!! and Baby Mickey started jumping up and down then said, "How cute! You need to get married at Disney World and invite Mickey Mouse. That is the bestest wedding"
My Engagement Ring:
After pricing different options we decided the child was actually brilliant and The Disney Memories Package offered a perfect alternative to our other options (Courthouse, Las Vegas, Local Ceremony) for nearly the same cost or even a little bit less with the benefit of a honeymoon/family reunion/baby Mickey's birthday all built in. It would also be more convenient for our mothers (who are both in frail health) to attend.
The Memories package only allows 4 guests but our guest list was so out of control we decided to just have our mothers present, his brother, who is our officiant and happens to be a minister living in Florida, and my best friend. My little boy, the brains behind the entire idea, will walk me down the aisle. We decided to purchase the DVD and have a low key cake and punch reception when we get home for family and friends. There is a lovely rose garden we can use for free at home for that.
So far this is the Plan:
Accomodations: Disney's Pop Century Resort
Wedding Venue: Polynesian Luau Beach
Reception: ???
I found our wedding attire at a second hand store in perfect condition with the tags still attached. I paid $100 for two suits, a tuxedo for baby Mickey, my bridal gown/veil by Alfred Angelo, and maid of honor gown by Jessica Mc Clintock.
My Dress:
I'm so excited to marry my best friend after all these years and officially begin our "Happily Ever After" together. I think it will be fun to plan our fairytale wedding on a budget. Any suggestions advice, or ideas are happily welcomed. Thank you for reading!!!! xox Cinderella in Love
