First, I'd like to thank everyone who gave me advice for our trip to WDW with my 83yr old mom who uses a wheelchair.... it was greatly appreciated!
I wanted to pass along our experiences with ride accessability ...
Mom cannot take steps without assistance, so she needed to stay in her wheelchair or be able to wheel completely up to the vehicle seat to be transferred.
She could stay in the wheelchair and ride on:
* Kilamanjaro Safari
* It's a Small World
* Mexico Ride
* Jungle Cruise
* Backlot Tour
* Ellen's Energy Adventure
* Imagination
She was able to wheel the WC along side of the ride vehicle and transfer (the ride completely stopped for the transfer):
*Haunted Mansion
*Pirates of the Carribean
Other rides that loaded easily from the wheelchair:
*Spaceship Earth
I'm sure there are other rides that would be WC user-friendly, but these are the only ones she felt comfortable about riding.
We really appreciated how nice and helpful the CM's were about our needs.
Wheelchair access/seating for all of the shows was very easy -- CM's were quick to direct us to the right places.
If anyone has any questions, please ask!
