I thought I would post a little about our experience at MTTMM this last September. We went on Labor Day (a Monday, of course) and we were some of the first guests at security that morning and some of the first to line up at the turnstiles. Our family was picked that morning to open the park and we were all pretty excited about that! After doing the countdown and getting our pictures taken, though, we were actually behind the initial rush of people into the park. Since MTTMM starts that first hour (and lasts only an hour), I didn't want to waste too much time getting over there, so DD7, DD4, and I all walked with a purpose to the big gates guarding the entrance to ToonTown. In the meantime, DH walked with some ultra-purpose over to SM to get fastpasses and then joined us at TT a few minutes after we arrived.
When we got to the entrance of TT, I was wondering if they had even opened yet because the big gates were mostly shut. There were two CMs standing out front, however, so my two DDs and I walked up the alley to TT and were quickly welcomed. We passed over our passes (thank you so much, azdizzymom!) and went right inside the gates. I'm not actually sure if we were the very first family inside, but I'm pretty certain we were. A TT CM wearing a distinctive checked jacket and cap approached us and started chatting with the girls. She was asking if we were visiting for a special occasion and if we had been having a good time so far. She also asked if anyone else was joining us and I told her DH would be arriving shortly from his SM fastpass odyssey. She then asked if we would like to be the TT Honorary Family of the Day. Talk about a double whammy! Opening the park and then getting to be Honorary Family! DH arrived a minute later and when we told him what was going on, he said we should buy a lottery ticket.
Being Honorary Family basically entailed being given a special table at the front of the presentation area and then getting called up during the opening ceremony. They introduced our family and Mickey Mouse presented us with a special scroll commemorating our status as Honorary Family of the Day. They gave us sashes to wear (loaners that were returned at the end of the ceremony) and we helped lead the audience in the ToonTown pledge. It was a very fun start to the morning! A CM took pictures with our camera while we up there:
We spent the next 30 minutes with TT almost to ourselves. We rode Gadget about ten times without ever having to get off of the coaster. Only one other little girl and her mom were riding with us for a couple of the rides. The girls got to explore Minnie's house without anyone else around, so they ended up doing a tea party in her kitchen:
There was plenty of time to explore all the interactive areas and greet characters with a minimum of fuss. When the girls saw Goofy (whom they had interacted with several times the previous morning at Goofy's Kitchen), they went flying up to him when he held his arms out:
I highly encourage anyone with young kids to participate in this event if they get a chance! That was a really a most amazing morning and was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

You should have bought that lottery ticket, who knows what would have happened!!!
We are hoping to get tickets to attend when we are there next March.

That's definitely a bummer. You need to get your name on the MTTMM ticket list so you can give it one more try. We didn't see a parade, either. At least, I don't think we did. Once the ceremony ended, I was too busy following DDs that looked like this:
