We stayed at CSR from 11/25 through 12/1.
My DD is 10 so she is a Disney Adult-even on the dining plan.
We used every TS, CS and snack credit. Every restaurant, without exception, offered DD her choice of the children's menu or the regular menu. She could also mix and match. For example, she could order a dessert from the children's menu but enjoy and appetizer and entrée from the adult menu.
Although we didn't go to the sit-down restaurant at CSR, we did enjoy the Pepper Market very much. In fact, they let us use our last 2 TS credits there, even though it is a CS location. Very accommodating, in my book.
I paid for the Hoop Dee Do Revue and CRT out of pocket. Two TS for each of those per guest, just wasn't worth it. For Chef Mickey's, Garden Grill, Ohana, Raglan Road (DTD) and Crystal Palace we used 1 TS each per guest. Much better use of credits, IMHO.
CS meals were mostly used at the Pepper Market, poolside at the resort (forget the name) and at Blizzard Beach.
Snack credits were very handy, because we didn't use them every day ( not deliberately). But it was nice to get 2 ice cream bars and a large bottle of water the last day.
Of course, free dining made it an incredible value, but I booked this vacation with DDP before that offer came out, so I was willing to pay anyway.
I would do it again. It worked great for us.
Now, I did not keep all receipts, or keep track of what it would have cost. I just find that kind of thing frustrating. If we were running under, I might be looking for the most expensive thing I could order-stuff like that would make me nuts.
Any questions-fire away.
