My mom just called and let me know that our "baby" of the family, Spunky was put to sleep today. She was 16 years old and was one of the most friendly dogs you would ever meet. She had a stroke last week and was not eating much so I know it was for the best. We are going to miss her so much. Her ashes are going to brought back to my parent's house and she will be buried in the backyard or her ashes will be scattered in the backyard.:(

I visited her on Sunday. She was still alert and friendly but her head was tilted to one side and had trouble walking but she wasn't in any pain.

Groosch...that is sad....:(

but yer knoe what...if spunky had been healthy fer 16 years....I'm guess'in it was 16 years of happiness...in a vary lov'in home.

Try ter remember all the good times.....a pet never dies, if you keep thar love alive in your heart!

I'm sorry Mickeyfan. :(

So sorry for your loss. We lost our little dog 2 years ago when she just couldn't recover from a stroke.:(

Just going to say basically what GP said above, 16 years of love and happiness. {{Hugs}}, mickeyfan29. :sunny:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you for the kind words.

Dan,
I emailed the rainbow bridge to my mom and brother. I cried when I read it.

I'm so sorry. I know how hard it can be as pets are a part of our families.

{{Hugs}} for you losing your beloved pet. Maybe a scrapebook would help keep all the wonderful memories.

Oh, I'm so sorry. :( {{{HUGS}}}
