My kids (10yob and 8yog) and I have been going to the high school track to jog for PE (we home school.) We went a couple of times a week in the spring, took the summer off while they were on swim team, and started up again at the end of August. When we first started they could barely go once around the track, but this morning they each jogged 3 miles without stopping! (DS took a short break to walk to and use his asthma inhaler, but I told him I wouldn't count that as stopping. :)). My 22mo toddler toddled *a mile and a half* with Grandma following along.

I think we're about as ready for all the WDW walking as we're going to be!

Sounds great Barb! Wish that I was that "in shape."

Since early spring Ive been going around and around and around my .2 mile circle in front of my house. I walk enough to total 2 miles a day/14 miles per week. My 9yr son is playing soccer at least twice a week. When there is no soccer or school I get him out walking with me. Its my husband Im concerned about. I'll give him one of the 2-way radios. Theres a joke that my MIL will keep up with me better than my husband.

That is awesome Barb! Great job for all your kids! You're a really good PE coach. BTW, did you have any trouble getting excused absenses for your trip? :D

Actually, my kids go to school two days a week. It says right in the school handbook that they'll gladly work with you for family vacations. (All the 100 or so kids in the school are homeschooled the other three days a week.) They've already given them their assignments for next week, and have said that it's up to me if we do them or not. (We're doing them.) I'm still the offiicial teacher, and I'm the one who gives grades, etc.

BTW, EPCOT counts as a school day, and I'm debating about MGM. (We'll be doing the animation tour and the backstage pass, which are surely educational!)

Wow! You sound like you are serious Disney Vacationeers! I think your efforts will pay off nicely.

I would, however, not overdo the walking/jogging thing with your 22 month old as sustained impact movements (like walking/jogging) can affect growth plate formation in the lower extremities. I would rely on the stroller at this age and consider the endurance/stamina training not beneficial for the child's overall health.

But for you and your older children I think its great!
