Our dining choices--advice welcomed!

I haven't been to Disney since I was 6 so this is all new to me! Here are the dining choices we have made so far but are not written in stone yet. Please feel free to give any advice, good or bad, on any of the restaurants. We are not a picky family when it comes to food and we have 3 boys under the age of 9.

Saturday night (we get in at 11 am)- somewhere at Dowtown Disney (maybe Rainforest?)

Sunday- Mamma Melrose and then to see Fantasmic

Monday- The Plaza (for a toned-down meal after a long day at MK) Also thought about Cape May so I would love to hear what you think!

Tuesday- Seaworld and Dinner with Shamu

Wednesday- Whispering Canyon

Thursday- Le Cellier

Friday- Hoop De Doo show and dinner

I would also love to squeeze in 50's Prime Time for lunch one day. Any other lunch places you think we should fit in?

I think your boys will love the Hoop De Doo review. Our boys 22, 20, & 18.
Still talk about the two times we saw it--they loved it.
Mama Melrose is a good choice-familar food and flatbreads--kinda like pizza-yummy!
You are going to have such a wonderful time-especially your first time seeing Disney thru their eyes. Enjoy every minute- they grow sooo... fast Deb

We love Rainforest at DTD, also dine with Shamu is really good. We are doing Le Cellier in February - and the reviews have sounded good. You have some good choices!

rainforest is good but always very busy - make sure you make arrangements! if it is too busy, we really like earl of sandwich - very reasonable sandwich bar with soup and salad - they even serve wine and beer - check out their menu
le cellier is great - good food but heavy on the red meat ; whispering canyon is a lot of fun, especially if you get an interactive waiter- the food is okay but the lodge is really neat and fun to explore - certainly worth doing (check out "old faithful" )
everyone should do hoop de doo once!!!
Prime time is fun and the food is usually pretty good - sandwiches are large, chicken and green beans are good as is the meatloaf
if you are in animal kingdom, we like pizzafari - they have great italian sandwiches, pizza, salads...good food and reasonably priced

i know you will have a wonderful trip - it really is magical!

I am no expert but I think you choices are very good overall. You have to try 50's PT the pot roast is soooo yummy! It has a great atmosphere, I have two boys and that was there favorite. At DTD Rainforest Cafe is a lot of fun, I am sure your boys will love it. If you decide to grab something light or for another lunch Earl of Sand. is very good, nothing exciting about the place it self just great sands.
Le Cellier A+ (what else can I say - oh I know try the cheese soup ) HDDR not to be missed.
We did not like WCC but it seems to be very popular with most. Pecos Bills @ MK great counter service, good burgers w/fixin' bar.
The only other must do for my family is California Grill, the food is wonderful and you just can not beat that view!

You mentioned Cape May Cafe. My husband and I really enjoyed it. But I must say if you are not into clams and seafood then it is a bit of a waste because the rest of the food is pretty ordinary.

We have 2 boys ages 4 and 8 and they really love character meals (Crystal Palace, the Garden Grill, Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree Tavern, Princess Storybook and Donald's breakfastsaurus). They tend to be loud and longer than normal dinners, but it's a nice break and we get autographs/pictures done without having to wait in line/heat.

They also love the Rainforest Cafe in DTD and it's usually our first night's dinner after we fly in to Orlando. They especially love the Volcano dessert.


We will be at WDW a week from today and we are really looking forward to trying out WCC. We haven't told our boys about all the fun stuff the wait staff does, so hopefully we'll get a great waiter that is into it.

We did the dinner with Shamu last February and really loved it. Just want to warn you that you may get soaked/splashed. Our friends had been the year before and told us we wouldn't get wet at all, so we were not anticipating getting the least bit wet. At one point during the 'show' one of the whales did a big splash right in front of our table (our table was right in the middle of the dining area, and closest to the water) and our entire table was drenched, food included (though we were down to dessert).

You have wonderful choices! Le Cellier is fantastic and Hoop Dee Do and Whispering Canyon are so much fun!!

We love Cape May - it is a family tradition for us - and the Boardwalk is just a bridge walk away if you want a nice evening activity.

Enjoy your trip! There is nothing more wonderful than seeing WDW through your children...!

Since you have not been to WDW in a long time the best advice I can give is NOT to schedule your dining far from where you will be on that day and time. For example. on a MK day you really don't want to go all the way to the Disney Studios for a meal unless you plan on staying there for a while. We made this mistake on our first family trip back in 1997. We had meals all over the place without realizing how big WDW is. Keep your meals in the same area that you will be in. It will save you a lot of time and travelling. From the MK you can easily monorail over to any of the MK resorts for a meal. From the Disney Studios and Epcot (International Gateway) you can boat or walk over to the Epcot resorts (Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin).

You have picked some great places. However, if you are still open to suggestions for meals we found the Sci-Fi Drive-In at MGM good. The tables are designed like cars and we are seated in the "theatre" like the old drive-ins and they show old 50s and 60s horror movies like "The Blob". We also like the Coral Reef at Epcot. Its tables are arranged in tiers and there is a huge fish tank along the wall. We ate lunch there and a diver showed up in the water and we wrote messages back and forth about some of the animals in the tank.

Congratulations on your Disney trip!! You have made some wonderful choices for your meals. I give a big thumbs up to Rainforest, Whispering Canyon and Cape May -- delicious!! I would definitely try to do Prime Time. Your boys would get a real kick out of it. I agree with the other poster, make sure you coordinate your eating places with where you will be that day. Disney has grown so much that otherwise you would waste a lot of time traveling. Have a great trip!!!

You will love LeCellier!!!!! It was by far the best meal ever at wdw! My boys got the s'mores dessert - it is on a long stick and gigantic! The cheese/potato soup is to die for as well as the steaks! The rainforest cafe was great-try to see if you can get ressies for this in advance-we had a three hour wait for dinner last june-we shopped while we waited but we were very hungry Food good but the atmosphere was really what got the boys excited! they loved all the animated animals and the "thunderstorms" as well! Let us know how dinner with shamu is??? It sounds like your kids would love that!

Are you staying on property? You have picked great places, ones that we enjoy. Knowing which resort you are staying at will give us a better idea what else to recommend.
