Our completely unpredictable PTR- WDW with Autism May 25-31

We love Dole Whips, will definitely have to stop off and get one. Wasnt sure about the Tiki Room anyway, never did it but thought we might check it out. So no big deal that its closed. We can move tom sawyer island to before dinner. I think Luke might have fun there but not sure. HM may or may not be ridden. We will atleast go through the line but most likely will take the chicken exit before we get to ride.

Our other MK day is Sunday. The plan is to get to MK no later than 10. Park opening would be great, but again, I promised I will not force my family up at the crack of dawn so we can be there at RD. Therefore, I am hoping for 10am. Luke religiously wakes between 7 and 8, so I think that is doable. Once we get to MK, the plan is to head straight to Fantasy Land. The touring plans state we need to go straight to Dumbo but Luke will want to do Mad Tea Party the second he sees it so that is where we will head first. Then we will do IASW, Dumbo, Pooh, Snow White all depending on the line wait times, and Peter Pan. After those are done, we will have some lunch. Thinking Pinnochio's. After lunch, we will try to do Mad Tea Party one more time, assuming the wait times arent to bad, then we will head to Tomorrowland. We will ride the Tomorrowland Speedway, Stitch for Jess and Stephen, while Luke and I get FP for Space Mountain. Next will be Monsters Inc if the lines arent to bad, then Buzz's Space Ranger Spin. Next we will do the Tomorrowland transit unless Luke and I have already done it (this is one of his calming rides) and then hopefully we can ride Space but if not, we will eat dinner at Cosmic Rays, and ride after. We plan to get Luke back to the resort and in bed by 9 again. Since MK has EMH, Jess has offered to stay with Luke once he is asleep so Stephen and I can head back to MK to ride some rides. I have never ridden much of anything at MK so this should be fun. We are planning to do this from 10-12 or so. I am a little nervous doing this but not because Jess cant handle it, just because I am a mom.

That's great that Jess is willing and can help out! Grumpy is unable to watch Anakin. I can't leave them together for more than a few minutes. It drives me nuts some days. The time it takes me to take a shower and get ready, seems to be the maximum amount of time that Grumpy can handle it.

Are you sure this is a good idea?

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl::laughing: :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl::laughing:

I wont ride it more than once but you can bet Jess and Luke will. In fact, if there is any extra time, they are likely to want to do it a third time. They love this ride. Both of them love to spin.

Tea cups is one of my son's favorite attractions now. Before the interactive metronome he couldn't spin, but now he can and he LOVES spinning. I do NOT!!!

That is how it is with my 17 year old too. There was a time when she had a great deal more tollerance for her brother. On our last trip, she watched him for a couple of hours and it was fine but this trip she is not a good candidate for the job. I think she really believes he can control his behaviors but just chooses not to. Of course, there are some behaviors he has better control of but a great deal of the time, his behavior issues are sensory related. I have tried to explain this but Kara just doesnt get it. Jess understands that which does help. Jess also has some sensory processing issues (no autism) and so she gets it. Jess's issues are primarily food related. While on vacation, Jess will eat very little. We have placed an order from garden grocer for her and she will likely use Luke's kids meal credits for a few food items. She has trouble with food textures and still chokes when she eats certain foods like nuts and meat that isnt ground up. She also knows how hard it is when people dont understand that she is not just being picky. Sad to say, but when we first got her, we tried everything to get her to eat because we did not know anything about SPD, just thought she was being picky. Thankfully, we found someone who gave us plenty of info and helped us a great deal. After 4 years of eating therapy, she now eats about 25 different items. I think that she has a bit more patience with Luke because of this. She is also more easy going than Kara and does not take things to heart the way Kara does. She doesnt get her feelings hurt as easily. I do hope we are able to do this as we never get to do anything without the kids, but the only way I will leave is if Luke is asleep. I know that once he is medicated, he should sleep, but if it doesnt work out, that will be okay too.

me either... spinning is not my cup of tea. The kids love it though so I try and let Luke do his favorite rides more than once when possible. Luke and Jess seem to both like the same rides so that helps a lot. It means a lot less planning for me. I just hope we can do everything I have listed. I am somewhat worried that I have way to much planned and Luke will not be able to handle it all.

I put up pics from the Mickey meet and greet. They are on the last 2 pages of my TR.

Hopefully at Disney the change of environment will change things for Luke and Kara. It does for my two! Wish they got along that great at home!

I certainly hope it changes her attitude. I know that going on 18 can be rough because she wants to be treated like an adult but there is no excuse for her attitude towards her siblings. It makes it hard to plan when I am constantly telling them to be nice to each other.

Today, I think my plans are pretty well set in stone. The only loose end is DHS on Friday the 27th. I am waiting on the Star Wars schedule to come out so I can plan that one better. This day will be pretty tricky. Jess wants autographs from the actress who plays ashoka and she wants to go to the Q and A and Luke wants to do character greets, especially darth maul. Still up in the air on Jedi training. Stephen will be off looking for collectable merchandise because he is one of those geeky star wars collectors. He actually has childhood figures still mint in the box. I figure this day, I will be on my own with Luke for the most part and I am hoping to be able to drop Jess at her autograph line, the Q and A, etc. The big rides for this day are Star Tours and TSM. The crowd levels will most likely be high and I am really stressing because Luke just doesnt do crowds well. We will have his stroller so he can hide a bit but I still just dont know about it. Any SWW advice?

Find out where the FP machines for the Star's meet and greet are. Jess will need to head there IMMEDIATELY with her ticket to get herself a FP to see Ashley Eckstein. If anyone else wants to see Ashley too, then each person needs to go to that FP machine with their ticket. In the past, they did not allow one person to get FP for others.

Last year the LE merchandise was in the AMF building of the Back Lot Tour. There were 2 separate lines. One was for the LE and expensive merchandise, the other for the general merchandise. They had lists of items for sale as you entered the building to look at to help decide what you want before you get to it.

Luke will probably love the Q&A. I wasn't sure about my son, but he loved it! There are big screens and they show scenes from the movies too. Storm troopers are usually the "preshow". Plus the building is air conditioned. (If you ever saw the Hunchback show years ago, it is in this theater. They closed it up and now have air conditioned, though it floods when it rains. We found that sitting to the far left or far right worked out really well. Not as many people sitting on the sides as in the middle so he won't feel as crowded.

Oh, and if there are only stand-by tickets left for the meet and greet, that's ok. If you get a low number you will probably still get in. I think we had 124 and were told we probably wouldn't get to see the person we wanted to see, and we were the very last ones to see him at that time.

Someone on the Star Wars Weekend thread said that they give out the FP for autographs before park opening? Is this not correct? Stephen has agreed to go with Jess early so she can be sure to get one. Luke and I will probably head there a little later but I hope to be there by park opening but no later than 10. Jess and Stephen planned to be there around 7:30 or 8. Is this early enough?

I'm not sure about the fast passes. 2004 was the last meet and greet we did. Back then they had the fast pass machines at Star Tours. But since then they've been moved around. If memory serves me right it was at the gate. Be sure you know, before you get there. You're coming down the 2nd weekend, so by then someone on here should have it posted where they are and when they opened to get them. As for the time, I would go with what they suggest on the SSW thread.

I am hopeful that someone will give me enough info so Jess will be able to get her autograph. Jess has been a star wars girl since she was 4 or 5. She still gets teased because at 14, she cant wait for new clone wars episodes with her brother. Ashoka is her favorite character, probably because she is a very strong willed rebellious teenager (sounds a bit like Jess, lol) I had originally planned to avoid star wars weekends but Jess begged to go, just to get her autograph and watch the show. OF course, Luke will probably enjoy the characters and the show too but the crowd levels might just be intollerable for him. I honestly do not know. Stephen and I plan for him to take Jess while I am on Luke for the majority of the day. Do you know if the photopass people are at the meet and greets? If not, I will want to get Jess an inexpensive camera so she can get pictures because I will have ours. I have already prepurchased the photopass cd so if they will take pics for her, that will probably work.

I really wish I could offer some advice, but I honestly don't know anything about SWW. There's probably a few threads on the Theme Parks boards that will offer up some words of wisdom, and if not, start one! :thumbsup2

I hope you get it all sorted out in plenty of time!

I am on the SWW thread on the theme parks board but no one answered that specific question yet. I figure it cannot hurt to ask multiple places and hopefully, I will be able to figure it out before we get there. I am looking at getting a digital camera for Jess. Want to stay under $100. Any suggestions?

Walmart has several that are under $100. They had a decent selection available via online only that was pretty cheap and they had a nice Kodak for about $70.

I want to say I bought my Sony Cybershot for less than $100 at Target, so a digital camera for under $100 is VERY doable. Walmart/Target has the display cameras, but they usually have cameras really cheap that are in the plastic stuff on the hooks (you know, the clear plastic that you have to break out the chainsaw to open). I was thinking of buying DD one since they're pretty inexpensive. :thumbsup2

I will have to look online. I know there are a whole lot under $100, but I want a decent one. I always worry that those ones in plastic might not be the greatest picture quality. I definitely want the pictures to look good. Otherwise, I might as well just let her use the camera on her cell phone. I just am not sure exactly which ones are the best. Will have to do some research and look at the reviews.
