We (me, DH, DS5. DS3) took a trip with my sister and her 2 kids (6 & 9) for Columbus Day weekend. We arrived at VWL on Friday, Oct. 6th. This was actually our first trip home to VWL. We bought a small add-on there, sight unseen. Our room wasn't ready (wasn't really expecting it be) so we took off for MK. MK was great that day because it wasn't crowded at all. We came back around 4pm and our 2BR was ready and groceries from Garden Grocer were delivered right on schedule. The 2BR was very nice. We had a nice big balcony that overlooked the walkway to VWL (in the front). I was surprised by how big the bathroom/closet area was in the side with the 2 queens.
We ate at Whispering Canyon that night and had a great time. The kids got a big kick out of the ketchup being moved around and all the silly stuff the waitstaff does. They loved watching the electrical pageant that night.
The next day we got up early and went to MK. We always go on Dumbo first because the line gets so long on that one. As we waited to get on, we all got Dream fastpasses. It was a great way to start the day! We didn't feel like we had to rush around and we got to do everything we wanted.
We went to the pool that afternoon. I thought it was a bit crowded. It was tough to find empty chairs and the line for the waterslide was long.
On Sunday, we moved to a 2BR at BCV, our other home. We checked in around lunchtime and our room wasn't ready. We went to SAB and the kids had a blast. They didn't want to leave the pool. Even the 9 year old didn't mind staying in the shallow area.
We kept calling to check if our room was ready because we had a 4pm Fantasmic dinner reservation at the Brown Derby. If it wasn't ready, we were just going to change at the health club and head to MGM. However, around 2:45pm--they said it was ready so we headed up. DH went to bell services to get our bags. When we got to the room, the housekeeping manager was there and she wouldn't let us in the room because she needed to talk to a manager. Apparently, the guest before had punched a hole in the wall in the master bedroom (why in the world would someone do that? It was kind of low, too.). It was repaired but not painted yet and the housekeeping manager was very concerned about the way it looked. We kept telling her that we really didn't care, we needed to get changed to head to MGM. She kept apologizing and finally agreed to let us stay there. Ryan, a CM who I think his job is to make sure everyone's happy, was so nice and understood that we were probably going to be late for our Brown Derby reservation, drove us to MGM.
The 2BR was in great condition (besides the patch). We got our first towel animals which was very exciting for the kids. The rest of our stay was awesome. I am pregnant and due in March so we weren't really planning on another trip for 2 years. However, we all had such a great time that I'm trying to figure out if we can squeeze one in somewhere. My kids are still talking about it. If you have any questions, please ask away. Sorry this was so long.
