Cast:
DW - Has serious reservation about whether or not it is a good idea to take a 4 month old to WDW
DH - Been talking about going since we came home in Jan.
DD - Excited and cannot wait as she is 40 inches.
DS - 4 Months old (yes he will not remember it ... )
Monday Sept. 26
5:00 AM - Everyone is up and feeling very tired to get on the flight. I go to unlock the front door as pop-pop will be taking us to the airport. Wait! He is patiently waiting at the front door ... Lets Go!
The great news ... DS slept through the whole flight to Orlando. We got off the ground on-time and landed on-time. We had a service lined up to take us to GF and he was promptly waiting in baggage claim. We get to the car and no booster and child seat ... great ... but we will go with the flow and the driver promises it will be there on the way home. Hold up I do not even want to discuss going home yet.
We arrive at GF and they promptly check us in. We get a tower room in Boca Chica ... very nice and we take a brief look at it and head over to MK (we are park maniacs). It is around 12:30 PM at this point. We are waiting for the monorail and then DW ... shows some anger ... The baby crib was not in the room ... did you notice? ... Honey, we just got here ... I am sure it can be resolved with one phone call ... or maybe they still plan on doing it as it is early .... If that crib is not in the room when we get back..... .... Just relax ... I will take care of it.
Monorail arrives and we hop on ... as we arrive at the front of the MK ... what is this? Large crowds of people ... this cant be ... it is late Sept. .... arrrgggghhhh!
We get into MK and it is very crowded fast passes are up to 3 hours in some rides ... so we fast pass Buzz and go on Stitch that has no line (just DD and myself). She really enjoys the Stitch ride. Next it is Buzz and all of us went on the ride ... had a ton of fun... DSs first ride and DW purchases the photo.
We head over to FantasyLand and ride a number of rides but the lines are long and gosh it is hot. Eventually we decide to start heading back to the front of MK as we have a ressie for Tonys .... oh my are we hungry. We all dive in and just scarf down food ... DW mentions how this might be the best meal ever as she was sooooo hungry.
We leave the restaurant and notice the heat coming down and the crowds as well. We hit a number of rides and stay until about 9PM and head back to GF. When we arrive ... the crib is in the room.
Tuesday Sept. 26
We wake and have room service for breakfast ... DS loves the Mickey Waffles. So we eat our food and talk about how we are amazed at DS. It is like he is not with us ... sleeps on the plane ... sleeps through the night in the crib ... we better not jinx it though.
DH and DD head over to MK after breakfast (DW wants to take her time with DS). Crowds are significantly less. We actually went to the monorail but they notified us of problems so we head over to the boat ... have to admit this was a nice little cruise across the lake. We head right over to Fantasyland and are the very first and only people to ride the tea cups (you can see in a couple photos how quiet it was walking up to Fantasyland). After this we proceeded to ride every ride in essentially walk-on fashion. We meet up with DW and DS for lunch ... felt like we rode all the rides. Splash Mountain was our favorite first time for the both us and ohhhhh boy the picture said it all ... we purchased this picture. We sat up front and we were both screaming. DD had her first Dole Whip right before lunch ... she loved it. We had lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern ... the pot roast was great.
So now we decide to do something we have never done on any of our earlier trips, go back to the hotel and go into the pool. Well it turned out to be a blast and the slide was an overwhelming smash hit with DS.
After the pool we head back to the MK ... ride lots more rides and get plenty of autographs. I told DD how when Mommy was your age pop-pop used to bring her to the Its a Small World ride just like I am doing with you. She seemed to get a real kick out of that as did I. Later that evening we hung out by the entrance to MK to watch the fireworks. All the sudden DD fell asleep on my shoulders, slumped over my head. So it was time to leave for the monorail back to the hotel.
Wednesday Sept. 27
We wake up and have room service and trot on over to the monorail in order to go to Epcot. We arrive at Epcot to find that everyone who has arrived promptly when the park opens has the same intention as us ... go to Soarin.
DW does not want to go on as she is afraid of getting motion sickness DD and I head right on ... we loved it. So much fun and the level of detail my daughter remembered about the ride really told me how much fun she had.
We get out to head right over to Test Track (we pretty much leisurely walk around) .. but we decide to let me get a fastpass to Test Track and then all of us will go on Spaceship Earth. DS falls asleep on Spaceship Earth ... sort of a soothing ride. DS and I head right over to Test Track ... but not before we get more autographs and Ice Cream!
After Test Track we had a reservation in Italy ... so we hustled right on over. Our server was so nice and took DD around the restaurant to show her things. Food was great and we really liked the fact that the sun went behind the clouds with overcast.
Who is ready to go to MGM I asked. Everyone was... so we were off to catch the boat and head over. On the boat DS makes a quick change of outfits ... she dawns the Belle dress.
We get to MGM and get an autograph and pic with Alice out front and then head right over Ariels show...it is just about to start up. We get good seats right in the middle and DD is just captivated as she LOVES Ariel.
Next we head over the Star Wars section, where DD and I ride the Star Wars simulator ... had some fun on that one. DS buys a little Yoda figure and we head on over to Pizza planet ... it starts to rain and then wait, what is this ... both kids are sleeping in their strollers...DW and I have lunch in peace .... wooohoooo. Well now we start to head over to Beauty and the Beast show on the other side of the park. We get there and wake up DD, and as we are walking up the CMs tell us to go right up to the front row. They noticed she had her dress on and immediately courted DS right up front ... what fun. The show was fabulous as always!
As the day went on ... we got more and more exhausted and then the dark clouds and thunder rolled in. We decided not to chance it and just grab a bus back to GF. This is when we knew that a monorail resort is soooo key for us. You see we have two strollers and enough gear for a Mt. Everest expedition. All this gear is packed tightly into the strollers so that they do not fold easily. So when there are two of you and two kids and two strollers ... this leaves one person to struggle with getting all the gear out and folding the strollers. Now do this in windy conditions with a line of people behind you. So why is a monorail better? Simple, you just roll your strollers and gear right onto the train.
So we get home to the GF and it feels so good ... what a long day. Started at 7:30 AM and we get back after 9:00 PM.
The next morning we have breakfast in the crystal palace with Winnie and friends. More fun. I highly recommend these early character breakfast as they give you an opportunity to do some quality photos within the park prior to opening. Not to get too short but we did a bunch more rides ... have another Dole Whip ... and to my daughters dismay it was time to head back as the driver will be arriving at GF shortly.
Driver arrives and yes he has the booster and child seat. So sad going in that opposite direction on the highway. But we all remind each other that we will be back real soon.
Flight home was as simple as the first ... a tad longer than the first.
We are all home now and patiently awaiting our next trip in Jan. (there is a possibility that DW and I will be at GF in a couple weeks ... as DW has a Business Trip to GF ... come on DW! Get your clients to RSVP!).
