Yesterday our boxer girl, Ginger, took her final walk over the bridge. She was 14 years old and wonderful. She will be missed by all of us in our family as well as our friends and neighbors. We got her from CAPs back when the war started. She belonged to a single Marine who was being deployed and needed a good home for her. She came for a weekend 'visit' and never left. From the moment she got in the car, to the moment she walked in the house we knew she was staying. Her Marine 'daddy' taught her how to play soccer and until last summer, she entertained my 3 4 yo grandchildren in the yard playing with her soccer ball.
She was so much more than a pet, she was our friend. Her favorite thing to do was take a car ride. She will truly be missed. Her fur friend Chloe is still wondering where she went, but in the last few days she had taken to sleeping with her so I think she also knew the end was near. Ginger was her surrogate mom as well. Chloe came to us as one of litter of 4 someone dumped. She weighed an ounce and Ginger took to her under her wing as she is the only puppy we could not find a home for.
So say a little prayer for Chloe girl as well, essentially her mom is gone and for us, as we get through the next few days missing our girl.
