We ate here on Sunday night with a 5 o'clock PS. We were seated and our server sat with us and talked about our day with our sons (their favorite rides, what we like to eat, what Boma offered, etc.). I thought she was going to be a great server.
Instead we barely saw her during our entire meal. DH and I sat with empty glasses for the majority of this meal. She was serving the table beside of us as well, and their glasses were also empty.
The pod with the children's food was a mob scene. It is located on one side of the entryway the server's use to get back and forth to the kitchen area. The servers were having an almost impossible time getting through here.
The food: DH liked the prime rib, but there was no au jus that we saw. This would have given it some flavor. Instead they had an African BBQ sauce, a mustard sauce, and one other sauce. They had roasted vegetables which we would have loved, had they not been overwhelmed by far too much balsamic vinegar. The ox tail soup was too sweet for our tastes.
We tried a great deal of the food, but just didn't care for it. We had really enjoyed the food served in the concierge lounge at AKL, so we expected to love Boma. The seafood gumbo was good. The curried pasta salad was good, and the desserts were very good. The chocolate crunch beats out even the zebra domes IMHO.
We will not be returning to Boma. I know many people rave about it, but my family did not care for the food or the service.
