Cast of characters:
DH-just turned 40, loves Disney, leaves the planning to me.
Me, DW 36, Disney fanatic, obsessive planner, must have magic every moment!
BIL & SIL- Floridians trying to get us to make the move!
Up and out by 8:00. The bus to AK arrived as we got to the bus stop. Just a tip, the bus at the Yacht & Beach Club also picks up at the Boardwalk and the Swan and Dolphin as well. It also makes a stop at Blizzard Beach before arriving at AK. We met the in-laws at Dinosaur. We havent done this ride since it first opened. I wasnt crazy about it and wanted to give it another shot. When we rode it on our last trip it stopped in the pitch-black darkness for a good 5 minutes. I was a little freaked out about that. This time it didnt stop and I liked it much better. We then did Primeval Whirl. DH decided not to do this one. He doesnt like rides that spin. The rest of us rode in one car and giggled through the whole ride. It really is a lot of fun. I really didnt think the spinning was all that bad.
Next we explored the Tree of Life and caught ITTBAB. Gotta love that stink bug! We havent seen the Maharajah Jungle Trek and did that next. I really enjoyed this. The tigers were beautiful. They were snoozing in the shade. One of them was sleeping on his back with all four paws in the air. He looked so funny I got some great pictures of them. I even enjoyed the fruit bats, I dont normally like bats, but it was really interesting to watch them. We decided not to do the Safari because it was late in the day and we knew that the animals were probably not out and about. Weve done this a few times before and decided to skip it for now. Unfortunately, we never did get to go back.
We had an early lunch with the in-laws because they had to drive back to Jax. We decided on the Rainforest Café at AK. We had a good lunch mostly burgers and fries and walked BIL and SIL to the exit and said goodbye. They would take a ride down to spend another night the next weekend.
We then went to Festival of the Lion King. We have yet to see it and heard it was great. The show is so lively and the music from the LK is our favorite so we loved it. Can you feel the love tonight? is our wedding song so that was extra special for us. After this we were feeling a little wiped out and decided to head back to the hotel for a rest.
The sun must have really go to us because we slept for 2 hours.
After napping and showering we made it to our PS in Japan. Japan is one of our favorites at Epcot. We both had Steak and Shrimp. It was delicious as usual. After dinner we went over to FW, which only had a few rides still open as it was after 7pm. JTYI was still open and I just had to get my Figment fix. Im so glad to see him back. We also did SSE. I dont know why but this ride makes me weepy. I just love it.
We walked back toward the International Gateway so we could see Illuminations and make a quick exit. We stopped in the French bakery and had some pastry. DH had an éclair and I had the chocolate mousse cake. They have the best pastry. We always make a point to visit there. The living statues were out and were fun to watch. Two unsuspecting little girls were posing in front of a statue. They both had pony tails. The statue ever so gracefully reached down and grabbed the pony tails and tried to tie them together. It was so funny seeing the little girls reactions while their heads were bound together.
We eventually found a good spot in Canada to watch Illuminations. This would be our viewing spot for the rest of the trip. It was very desirable because there was a cart that sold cold Molsons right next to us. I just love Illuminations. I never get sick of it. The music is so moving. This also makes me weepy. My biggest regret is not buying the Illuminations CD during this trip.
After Illuminations we strolled back to our room. It really was so perfect to have our room so close to the gateway. Our feet were killing us! Tomorrow is our first day off.
