Hey lady! It's good to hear from youSorry to hear the kids have been sick. I can relate! I hope they're better soon and you're able to finish up your TR.
to see it come to an end. It was a really fun tr to read and your pics along the way were great.
Look forward to hearing about next years trip when u go and also your final thoughts from this one.
Aw, thanks! And yeah, they are both feeling a lot better, so hopefully, they can both go to school/daycare tomorrow, and I can put in a full day at the office! Of course, then ds has Thursday, Friday, and Monday off of school - I'm never going to get caught up!!! Dd however will be going to daycare for sure on Thursday for her Valentine's Day party. (Ds has his tomorrow.) Plus, I need to get my money's worth for daycare - gotta pay even when they don't show up, and I used up my vacation weeks already.
Anyhow, so sad to see the end of your TR...but looking forward to the rest of the commentary!

Tina
Thanks everyone!
I will finish up with my final thoughts, etc. But, it might have to wait a bit. My brother and his family are arriving tomorrow to stay for a few days and I have a paper to write before then. I just wanted you all to know I didn't forget about finishing!!
The trip to Maine was a bit crazy and there was an awful icestorm one day. My parents lost power for over 24 hours, which made for a VERY cold visit! I'll post a couple of pictures of the trees with ice once I get a chance.
Hmm...Maine - February - no heat. Not sounding good!!! But, we know you survived, at least.
Of course, by us, we had the big melt yesterday, after our huge snows. Dh went to check out our old house - and of course, that's when I went in our basement, and found the seeping water (near the known crack in the foundation wall that dh didn't think we needed to get sealed...) So, I got to spend a couple hours shoveling snow away from the foundation, clearing downspout drains, and then playing civil engineer, making a nice little canal for the water to get away from the house!
Can't wait to read your final thoughts. Hmmm have you begun making plans for your next trip.
Good luck with your paper!!!
It looks like I have a lot to catch up on. I've read a few installments....
As you can see (at least temporarily) this is my first post.
I really enjoyed reading your TR. It wetted the appetite for our trip in a few weeks.
My dad got to use his French when ordering. I mentioned early on that we're French Canadian (I think I did anyway). My dad grew up speaking French in his family. Unfortunately, the next generation (me) wasn't as lucky. It would have been so much easier to learn French in school if my dad had spoken it to me as a kid. I heard it a lot from my memere, but she also spoke English most of the time.
I'm from Louisiana, I'm sure you know that my ancestors come from Nova Scotia. My father could not speak english when he started school because they all spoke French. He was actually held back in the first grade until he could speak English well enough. My family spoke French a lot when I was a kid so I understood a lot and spoke a little. HOWEVER, this was "cajun french" and although people who are fluent in one or the other type of French might be able to understand each other, it is somewhat different than French from say...France. So, when I got to French in school they taught the one from France and I was so confused! Eventually, a lot of the older relatives passed on and no one really speaks it anymore.I wish my dad would teach me. It's much easier to learn when you sit in a room full of people speaking the language all the time. You are sort of forced to learn.....well, if you want to know what everyone is talking about anyway.
