DAY 4 Boma & Downtown Disney

After our afternnon of swimming and crafts, we headed upstairs to shower and get ready for our dinner at Boma and an evening at Downtown Disney! We all got dressed and headed downstairs to Boma. It was sooooo nice just walking downstairs to dinner and not having to travel!

We checked in and took these pictures of the restaurant and the overlook into the restaurant...

We were seated fairly quickly and then we got to dive in to this amazing experience!! I ordered one of these......

We had eaten at Boma last year and LOVED it! This year was no different, it was INCREDIBLE! The best thing is there are so many different things to try but then they have typical food to like roasted chicken, pasta,vegetables and bread! Boma is an experience and the staff are phenomenal about explaining what things are. They also have kid friendly food such as mac&cheese, chicken strips, french fries and pasta! It was a win win for us! Here is a picture of my plate!

The orange stuff is called fufu and it is a combo mashed/sweet potatoes and it was AWESOME! The little bally looking things were falafels and the white sauce next to it is like a yogurt sauce and these were YUMMO too! The corn bread looking thing is called mealie bread but tastes just like corn bread only a little sweeter. There is also broken up pita bread that I used to dip in the hummus and other awesome spreads they had there! The other stuff on there was a coconut,carrot and raisin salad and it was great!

We then had some of these for dessert!

After our delicious meal we went upstairs to grab a few things then headed out to the bus stop for Downtown Disney!

A bus came pretty quickly and we were on our way! We were cracking up because the bus ride took us by Old Key West and Saratoga Springs so Bryan joked with the bus driver and asked if he was getting paid extra to market DVC like this!! The bus driver thought is was funny and laughed out loud and so did the couple next to us! We arrived a few minutes later and our first mission was Lego World and then The pin store, the boys were going to pin exchange for the first time!

Immediately we were taken back by the crowd! It was MOBBED

So we walk over to Lego world and the boys head straight to the back to fill one of those tubs up! I decided to get on line because the line was 30 people deep easy! After about 15 minutes I am at the front of the line but my family is nowhere to be found? I let a few people go in front of me and yet still no family? Well about 5 minutes later Bryan comes up and says "What are you doing?" I said "I am waiting in line what the heck are you guys doing?" He then says "Diane, we paid at the back of the store and have been waiting for you for 15 minutes!" I was SO MAD! This my friends is when I lost it!!! I walked out of the store and basically said "I told you I was waiting in line, why didn't you come get me? " First you ditch the MK plan and now this" He apologized but I was so frustrated! The crowds were really unbearable and that is when I realized why!! The World cheerleading and dance competition was getting ready to begin the next day and WDW was inundated with teenagers from ALL OVER THE WORLD! and they all decided to go to Downtown Disney on Thurday, April 24th! We made our way over towards the pin shop and Bryan says I'll be right back.... I help the boys trade pins for the very first time!

After our purchases and trading, I decided we needed to leave, it was too crowded and ZI knew I had scheduled an afternoon for us here on Sun. So we walk out and there is Bryan holding ice cream for all of us! He said I'm sorry and then I said I'm sorry and everything was good again! We headed for the bus stop and waited

and waited..........

and then finally after about 25 minutes a bus finally came! That was the most we waited for a bus the entire trip.

We made our way back to the AKL and our room on the Giraffe Trail and went to sleep! It was a great day!

Up next, our very first character breakfast and an Animal Kingdom morning!

I was cheerleader coach for my daughters squad when she was in 8th grade. We went to competition at an amusement park and it was WILD! I really feel for you!
How did the boys like pin trading? Glad you had a nice dinner and ice cream! I feel so bad for you that you were waiting in line all that time! I notice men are so single focused. You can tell them something and inless they awknowledge it...its as if you never said it! lol

Sorry to hear about the crowds at DTD. The Cheerleading Worlds is the BIGGEST of the Big in cheer competitions. If anything, you were in the presence of greatness in the Cheer World! 65 different countries competing and only the best of the best in our countries All Star Cheerleading! My DD's team went and although her team got there we did not go! She had been out sick half this season and I wanted her to experience Worlds when she was actually competing. Yes, they all arrived on the 24th/25th. I hope it was bearable for you. By the way, in the 6 divisions at the competition, Freehold NJ's World Cup All Stars took home 2 of the Gold medals!

That is so cool about Freehold!! To be honest DTD and one evening at DHS were the only times we noticed huge swells in the crowds due to the competition!

We loved Boma too! Such great flavors and the soups were some of my faves! Glad the boys got to pin trade, fun stuff! And the Lego Story experience, ouch, waiting in line and then finding out you didn't have to? Frustrating but kudos to your DH for saving the day with ice cream!

Pin trading! Did they become obsessed with it? My DD started off very shy and then we would turn around and she would have a new pin that she traded for. She actually got a pretty rare one from some little girl. In fact if I had seen her do it I wouldn't have allowed it but I was in line getting ice cream and DH was watching her. Oh well.

Another wonderful update. Boma sounds wonderful, we had to change our dinner reservations to breakfast, hopefully we aren't disappointed. Too bad about ddd being so busy, glad to hear it all went well in the end though....what a thoughtful husband to return with icecream & an apology. Your pictures are great...looking forward to more...

Loved the update! Boma looks excellent, I would love to eat there but DH doesn't rea;;y like the menu. I have only visited AKl and had CS in the Mara. But I loved the resort. Sorry to hear DTD was mobbed. My DH doesn't listen either but your DH at least said "Sorry" and bought you ice cream . BTW was the Lego store fun? We haven't been to DTD since 2002 .
