Day 5 – June 19, 2004

Cast:
Susie - 38
Lauren – 10

The sad day had come. We had to leave today. We slept late and packed when we woke up. It was hard to get our purchases in the suitcase I brought for them but we prevailed. We took our bags down and checked them because we weren’t leaving until 12:30. We went for one last breakfast at the food court and one last refill. We were moving slow today because we really didn’t want to leave. My feet were just getting to the point where they didn’t hurt. We had about an hour to kill so we walked over to Movies to take some pictures. Lauren has changed her mind about Sports. She now wants to stay at Movies. The Dalmatian building. I loved Andy’s Room. Disney theming is awesome. We then walked back over to the Music gift shop and Lauren spent the last of her money. Then it was time to get our bags. Bob from Murray Hill showed up promptly at 12:30 and we were off to the airport. I didn’t want to go. I was sad. We did curbside check-in and headed to security, which took about 15 minutes. We grabbed some fries and Cokes form Burger King and headed to the gate. The plane pulled away from the gate 10 minutes early so I was glad that we would get home early. Wrong!! We pulled onto the tarmac and sat. Apparantly there was a storm back home in Dallas that shut down the airport. Dude, we are two hours away. It’ll be gone by the time we get there! Let’s go! They didn’t care what I had to say.

We sat for 10 minutes before taking off. Then, the pilot tells us that we have to take a more southern route. After three left turns I wondered just how southern we were going. I had my answer after I stood up and looked out the window on the left side of the plane and saw nothing but water and looked out my side of the plane and saw water! What the hey!! There’s no ocean between Orlando and Dallas! It’s a straight shot over land. Look at a map, you’ll see! Turns out we had to go south of Houston. That is a very southerly route! This added an hour and a half to our flight and it wasn’t a very smooth flight. I felt like I was on another roller coaster. I hate to fly. After landing we sat on the tarmac because there was a big back up and a plane was at our gate. We sat for 45 minutes and finally moved toward our gate. Notice I said toward and not to our gate. Because when we got there we couldn’t pull up to it because someone had dropped a glass and broke it. There were eight men standing around looking at it. We waited about 15 minutes for a guy in a truck to pull up, get his broom and dust pan and sweep it up. Now why couldn’t one of those eight guys do it? We started laughing about it on the plane and came up with a new joke. How many airline employees does it take to clean up broken glass? Nine. Eight to look at it and make sure it really is glass and one to come from the other side of the airport to sweep it up. Oh, well, guess you had to be there. So our 2 hour 20 minute flight took us 4 and one half hours. We shuttled back to the lot to get my car and headed home to tell Dad about all of our adventures and start planning our next vacation.

Final thoughts

WDW was everything I hoped it would be and more. I look forward to a return trip. All Star Music was a great place to stay and I have no complaints about it. Overall the Disney transportation system was great. Just the DTD problem.

It wasn’t as crowded as I thought it would be. Or we just hit the parks at the right times on the wrong days because we didn’t encounter any monster lines. I think 20 minutes was the longest we waited. We didn’t do any of the “E” rides at MK during the day because we knew we would have a chance to do them during E-night.

We didn’t encounter any rude people and saw nothing shocking. Well, unless you count some of the outfits we saw. I think I only got bumped by a stroller once and it was just a small nudge.

The CMs were fantastic and none seemed to be having a bad day. I can’t count how many times we were told to “have a magical day”.

I wish we would have been able to spend more time in AK and MGM but MK kept calling. These two parks will have to be priority on our next trip.

I would have liked to have seen more “street” shows at Epcot but wasn’t at all disappointed in the day we spent there.

Thanks for reading!

Thank you for the wonderful trip reports. I know how you felt in seeing Cinderella's castle for the first time, we had the same experience on our first trip. Even after all the trips we have made to WDW we still get that same feeling every time, it's like we have come home. I'm glad you and your daughter had such a magical time.

I am so pleased that you had a wonderful trip with your daughter.

Thanks for sharing your vacation! :D

I was glad to see that you at least got to see "highlights" from every park in your 4 days. We will be taking our DS's (11 & 4) in October, and I really don't think that the little guy could handle a "commando" style trip.

Can't wait to taste those mickey bars! :mickeybar

Wonderful reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

Thanks all! It was a great trip and I plan on at least 7 days next time.

Thanks so much for writing your trip reports. I really enjoyed reading them. Your reports have made me even more excited for my family's first WDW trip coming up soon. We will definitely do the eride nights.

I LOVE reading "first timers" reports, they are always so amazed at the place! Yes, it really is magical. I won't be going again until December and this will be our first stay at Pop Century. I can't wait. I am so glad you and your daughter had such a great time. Can't wait for your next report on your next trip with DH.
