Just got back from BWV-our first trip there and we had a blast despite having an issue with our room on the first day. The main reason for this trip was to check out Star Wars Weeknd at DHS. Staying at the BWV was the perfect location for this event. It was so convenient to be able to go back and forth from the park to the hotel in such a short time. The same with EPCOT-the short ride on the boat or walk to the park meant less time waiting for the bus. Although we had great timing on the occasions where we did use the bus with no more than 5 minute waits for 2 trips to the MK and one to TL. DHS is not one our fav parks either but seeing that it was SWW and we were so close, we ended going there on 4 different days.

First the resort-day one we had a 1br std view on the 2nd floor. Right off the bat, we had a problem with wet carpeting-make that very wet carpeting right outside the washing machine. My daughter slipped in the bathroom after soaking her foot on the carpet. I called maintenance and went out to the parks for a few hours. Upon our return, the carpeting was in worse shape than before. Someone had definitely been in the room and checked things out
but no clean up or dry-up had taken place. :worried: I went to the front desk with my concerns. The CM at the front desk came down to the room with me to assess the situation and he agreed that something had to be done. My wife started to complain about the carpet smell. After returning to the front desk for 30 minutes, I was finally able to convince the CM that I was not going to be satisfied until we were put in a different room. They moved us to a 4th
floor 1br std view and all was well. During my 30 minutes at the front desk, my wife said that maintenance came in with a water extractor and tried to dry the water the best they could. :confused3

After 2 nights, we moved to a 1br boardwalk view on the 2nd floor and had no issues with the room at all. Very big balconies right over and nearby the general store and the hoop toss game. We loved the room and we were even able to watch some of Illuminations one night. Overall, we enjoyed the resort very much including the pool and the Keister Coaster! My daughter liked playing the pool games in the afternoon.

While at the resort, we ate at Spoodles, and at the Fountain and Picabu at the Swan. We also went to Welcome Home Wednesday. It was a fun way to spend an hour plus we all got free DVC hats on the way out which was a nice touch. :thumbsup2 Also, did a walkthrough of the models rooms on the boardwalk and they were busy with potential new members. We did Brown Derby for lunch and Mama Melrose for dinner at DHS too. At EPCOT, we did the Biergarten
for dinner and beer and had a great time! :drinking1

I'd definitely go back to the Boardwalk again if I was planning on spending a lot of time at EPCOT and DHS. SWW was great too. We took lots of pictures with characters, my kids did the Jedi Training Academy, rode Star Tours 3x, and got to see a preview of the new SW animated movie coming out this summer. :yoda:

I'm glad you had a nice time! I agree that checking out a Welcome Home Wednesday is fun, I went to one in April.

I'm sorry that your DD slipped...scary really, wet on the ceramic tile. I have been assigned rooms with damp carpets, not only DVC, but on ships when there's a high, quick turnover, but not to the extent that yours was. I'm glad they did change you.

Bobbi:)

Thanks for posting....glad they gave you another room.....Good thing your daughter didn't get hurt.

I love BWV.....I might have to add on there....happy you liked BWV's as well.

Only speculating here, but as in some other posts, a lot of times I blame poor room conditions on the previous occupants of the room, not necessarily DVC. In this case it couls be either, as if the previous resident had gotten the floor wet, Mousekeeping could have had it dried before the next visit. But If accidents happen, shouldn't we as owners take the first step toward solving the problem and not let it wait for Mousekeeping or the next visitor?

Glad to see you were able to move, but if they had the room avaiable from the start, I am wondering why they didn't move you sooner. Our home resort is BWV, and we LOVE it! We rarely consider staying elsewhere when visiting WDW.

we were there at the same time! I just love the BWV and had a blast as well! We tend to go to WDW around that same time each year and we just love all of the festivities: Flower festival at Epcot, Star Wars, Gay Days, Microsoft TechEd convention in Orlando for my hubby! There is just so much spirit and uniqueness at that time of year!

That was how I felt too. The room was not properly cleaned between guests and there is just no way that Mousekeeping could have missed the wet carpeting. And I also wondered why I wasn't immediately moved when there was another clean empty room 2 floors above mine. Instead I had to press my case for 30 minutes with the CM at the front desk who had to leave, talk to a manager (I guess), come back and talk to me again, and then finally leave one more time and say that I could finally switch rooms. Even given all that, it would not stop me from staying at BWV again. It was a fun resort and it's in a great location in between 2 theme parks. If we had stayed at AKV (as orignally planned), we would have spent alot more time on the bus instead of at DHS for Star Wars weekend.
