I posted on the transportation boards, resturant board and resort board already, so feel free to check them out if you want. :) this was our 1st stay and just a recap of who we are. We were a family of 9 staying at the All star resort, and in case everyone forgot--this was NOT a trip my hubby was anxiously waiting to take. :) RECAP: Stayed at all star music, used Your Ride transportation, had the 1/2 hour grocery stop which was nice, but not necassary -we figured out later on in week. :) OH and hardly any crowds this WHOLE TRIP. Our longest wait was 20mn on the indy speed race track, rest were basicaly a walk on. and our weeks weather was GREAT, sprinkled one day, and that was it. Wore shorts all week.

Thurs Jan 30th, this was a travel day, so not much news here. We left Rochester, MN at 1, flew to Mpls, for layover, which was longer than expect, due to waiting for another plane to come in from Ohio, got to hotel after grocery stop at 10:45 and got to our room at 12:30. Was a long day. Hubby still not happy to be here, but weather is warm which is a BIG plus for all of us.

Friday Jan 31st. Rented a van from National car care center, went to Kennedy space center from 10-4 --this was a great place, could have spent longer here, but food is AWEFUL and EXPENSIVE. Eat before you go. A normal snicker bar for example: $2.45. We saw alligators, armadillo, lots of wild life and our bus drivers for tour were awesome, very funny. We are keeping the Columbia people in our prayers and were glad that we were there the day BEFORE the colubia tragedy. We will always remember where we were when we heard about the news. We left Ksc at 4 and went to Cocoa beach. This was our first time at ocean, ate at Marlins on the pier and saw a sting ray in the ocean, but missed the dolphins as they were there earlier that day :( This was a great day, we forgot to pack swim wear for kids, so they went in ocean with clothes on, so cocoa beach wear for them all, along with beach towels. :) Oh-well what ya going to do. We all had blast.

Saturday: This was Epcot day, and we did hardly anything here, not sure why either, as crowds were light. But I think it was just a sad day because we heard about the Columbia at the park. We missed a lot at this park. Left park at 6 to take monorail to mk and ride boat from there to Fort wilderness for "hoop de doo Show".

Sunday: This was a surprise LIMO day for our kids and we went to Sea world. They were surprised!! it was great and sea world turned out being our best park. LOVED IT and the limo. Very beautiful. We did everything in park except atlantis. Some of us even rode Kracken. :) I rode it with eyes shut. :) Food and experience both great here.

Monday: Had van from Yourride pick us up for Universal studios. This was another fun park, and crowds were low here too. We walked on everything, and saw everything. We ate lunch at Hard rock cafe, and my daughter was on "Slime Time Live". :) check out the universal trip report for more.

Tuesday: MGM day. Sprinkled a little today, at at rosie's and walked on everything here too. OUr daughter rode RNR , her 1st upside down roller coaster and loved it. We of course had to get picture. We saw fantasmic--AWESOME show, and then went to Epcot to see Illuminations after. Which turned out to be hubby's favorite show.

Wed: Ak day. We slept in on and did not get to park till 10. Walk on everything and kids stayed on Kali river rapids about 3 times in row, till our daughters poncho ripped, and park was closing, so we had to leave. We went back to hotel to change kids from wet clothes and went to Downtown Disney. Ate at rainforest cafe there. GOod food, very loud!. Cute shops. It was cool this night, so we left and went back to hotel and bed.

Thursday: Magic Kingdom: We hit EE and did fantasyland and tomorrow land, before eating at Cosmic rays, left after that as our daughter was not feeling well. Went back to hotel and hubby/daughter slept 2 1/2 hours. I layed by pool and read magazines. Was a very nice relaxing day, and then woke played in arcade, hubby hit jackpot of games, and eneded up winning Katie 2300 tickets. :) So had 7 EXTRA stuffed animals to pack home and also more animals to have waiting for her each night. :) We did Ohana's for supper this night, was very good.

Friday: Went back to MK, did the things we missed, kids loved Splash mountain, I had to be Pushed on, but liked it after it was done and would do it again. Saw Parade, and ate supper at castle for "BIL" B-day. Very nice day and no waits. came back to hotel and kids swam, we drank by pool, and packed. Was a fun, relaxing night.

Sat--Our travel day back to COLD mn. Left Orlando at 62 degrees got to Minnesota and it was a WOPPIN 7 when landed. BRRR.

Hightlights. rode in nose of monorail, and saw the electric water pagent on boat going back to magic kingdom after hoop de doo show. Hubby will NOT go back to disney, and katie was ok with whole trip, but would rather go to canada fishing. --So we did Disney once and probably will not go back. It was a nice trip, but the disney magic did not grab us. I realize we missed a lot on this trip, but 1st trip and can't do everything. Katie did not care to see parades, and got maybe 12 autographs from characteres. She is 11, so kind of past this stage.

I'm sure there will come a time when your DH and DD will want to return to WDW. Until then it sounds like you had a great trip to Florida. Thanks for posting.

Great report Mogs and I just know someday you will go back.

I thought our first trip would be our last, too:D

When is Rochester going to get some direct flights to Florida? Will I ever live to see the day, Jeez.

I heard last year rumors of florida charters from Rochester, but I guess they were just rumors!

Herc.

I hear ya on the direct flights from Rochester, but still much more easier and convient than having to deal with security and all at the MPLS airport. No lines or waiting at that little airport--nice.

Hi Mogs30! I loved your report, it sounds like you did alot of the same things we will be doing in October. We will spend our first night in Florida in Cocoa Beach so dd's can spend some time at the ocean. How did you like it? I know this is a stupid question but were there any shells on the beach (that's all dd's are interested in when we talk about the ocean)? My dh will not go back to WDW either, so this trip is just us girls!!!

the ocean was a very special day for us, we could have spent all day there. Katie did bring home some seashells, but tiny ones. She was ok with them and there are plenty to go around if little ones are ok. Love the cocoa beach pier, lots of activity going on. Hope you have an enjoyable trip. I said next time if/when we go to florida again I am plopping my butt on the beach and staying put with a drink with umbrella in it. :) Have a great trip.

Thanks for the quick reply Mogs30!! I'm really looking forward to the beach. That's why we decided to just drive there first and spend the night, that way we have plenty of time!! I have heard good things about the pier area, can't wait!!

We were there around the same time. Thanks so much for posting the trip report. Great report!

Welcome Home! Thanks for the prompt report!

How did it work with a group of nine? Did you all try to do things together in the Disney parks? When we go to WDW this fall we'll have our family of six plus MIL/FIL and SIL/BIL w/ niece. We're trying figure out what we want to do together and when we'll split up.

Our kids saw the ocean for the first time during our WDW trip in October 2000. We spent a day at Coco Beach and really loved it.
I can definitely relate (as only a frozen midwesterner can) to enjoying the beach!

Thanks for the welcome back--I am not happy to be back in zub zero temps but am happy to be home. :) Our group of 9 stayed together 90% of the time. The only problem we saw was someone was always going to the bathroom, so when ever someone went we all went. I dont think I ever went to the bathroom more than this trip. :) We all got along--thank goodness. The KSC/Cocoa beach day was just the 7 of us, my mom/dad did not want to join us, otherwise we were always together. It worked out better than I thought, we did have a few touchy moments, but that was with the kids and being tired/cranky. I hope you have a wonderful trip. Next trip will be someplace warm and NO MOVING--I'm plopping my butt down on a beach or by a pool with a drink in my hand. :p Have a great day.
