DS turned 4 on trip
All right I know what your thinking "thier just babies". Yes we are. This was out first trip ever and well we learned a lot.
The beginning Friday Aug 6th
So here I am trying pack and get every thing together since we leave the next day. The phone rings which happens often,lol. It's my father in-law, which is a surprise cause they live in NC while were in Tx so we don't talk often. Well he tells me that they're ( him and dh's stepmom) going to join us for 2 days at Disney. Ok we think very cool, we havent seen them in 2 yrs. He has already talked to DH and just wanted to know our details ( resort, time of arrival,ect), well I tell him and he says,"i'll call you back". Well that night he calls back and tells me the reason for the sudden trip, DSM has leukemia(sp?) that she's had for the past year and a half thats been mis-dianogsed for the past year. Well this is a shock, but they want to go and have a good time and spend some time with us.
Saturday, Aug 7th
Well we got the rental van with no problem, Thank You Lord! I was just slightly worried, we don't have an actual credit card, we have the bank card. Well I read that with using a debit card that they do a credit check. We have bad credit. It was not smart for 20 yr/olds to have cc's. They are all paid off and we have no more. Learned that lesson. Well they didn't do it. I was very glad. The reason for a rental is that I have a car but it doesn't run great and we don't have a lot of room in it.
Well the van is packed we head out at 4pm. The plan was to drive straight thru. Well the drive wasn't bad at first, until it got be like 1 or so in the morning and we got past Mobile on I 10. There is nothing and I mean nothing but tree's. We stopped alot. Dh doesn't like me to drive, he says I scare him. I don't see why I mean i just have a little hole in my hood where I ran into truck, nothing much,lol. Well he finally lets me drive , I had sleep a little and he needed a rest. OK so I start to drive and get about 2 miles down the rd and it starts to rain. Darn it, ok I have a just a little bit of a night blindness problem, but its fine when there arn't alot of cars coming the other way, but you add rain to it and well I can see but I go really slow. So I suddenly hear from DH "pull over", but I just got started. i tell no its letting up and he tells me that he would rather changs places while its light rain than when its pouring. Fine, I pull over, we change places. The rest of the drive was fine.
Sunday, Aug. 8th
Well we got to Disney at either 7:30 or 8:30 I'm not real sure with the time change. All I know is that we were tired. We checked in at the Carribian Beach Resort. It was wonderful! I loved the theming. Check in was easy but of course they didn't have our room ready. We called My FIL. They were already there and we went to thier room. We went down and had breakfast at the food court, which was pretty good. We then went and looked at t the pool and decided what to do that day. We only had 5 day park hoppers and would be at WDW till Sat. so we didn't want to go to a park. We ended up going to Downtown Disney and walking around. I know what your thinking, dh has been up since 7 sat. morning and he's still going, yes he did, he was trooper. At 12:30 we went back to the hotel to see if our room was ready. DS was just entralled by the bus ride. He thought this was the coolest thing. Our roomwasn't ready yet but they were working on it. Well DSM needs rest and DS needed a nap so we went to thier room while the guys went off to do thier own thing. DSM and DS crashed and I finally did too. I woke up and dH and FIL were in our room waiting on us to wake up. We got the room right next to them.
Our room was great we were in building 25 in rm 2550. We had a great view of the beach and it was a skip and and a jump to Old Port Royal. I couldn't have asked for a better location. I didn't even mind that it was 2nd floor, that just made the view better. DH, FIl and I talked about dinner and decided to see if we could get O'Hana's even though we're eating there for breakfast later on. I wanted to try thier dinner. Well the guys leave, I shower and when they get back they say sorry no O'Hana's but they told us that Kona Cafe was similar. Ok thats fine what time? 7:40, I'm like what, thats too late We didn't have lunch. Thats ok they tell me we can get in earlier if you want. ok great! Well about 5:30 we head out because we want to explore the Poly too. My dH has been to WDW with his parents when he was a kid. They always stayed at the Poly and Dh and FIL wanted to show me why it was such a great place. Well we get walk arouind, yeah its a nice place, now we're starving! lol. The guys so see if can go ahead and get in, its about 6:30 well we wait and wait and wait, well where did they go? Finally Dh shows up at 7. Kona Cafe can take us now or we can wait till 7:45 and eat at O'Hana's. WoW, tough choice! Dh is looking at me to decide. I ask DSM what she thinks, she's starving she wants to eat. so I say lets go ahead and eat at Kona. It was nice the only thing was and I saw this alot at Disney, there were only like 8 choices for the main course. DH is a meat and potatoes kind of guy and he doesn't like frilly sauces or marinades. It was tough for him to find something to eat. He got the Prime Rib. He said it was ok but really likes the potatoes. I got shrimp and scallops, it was awsome. I felt bad for Dh cause he later told that he had really wanted to eat at O'hana's. Oops, sorry. We went back to the room and crashed.
Wait till tomorrow it gets better, lol.
