Hubby and I got married last year on his birthday, which is rapidly approaching....I have no idea what would be a good gift!!

History: We were married on the beach at sunrise, we both love the ocean and he's an avid surfer. We love the outdoors, camping & hiking - but we've got pretty much all we'd ever need in that department. I spent a TON on him for Christmas (he got me two or three inexpensive, but thoughtful gifts), and he made me promise to NEVER do that again.

Ideas????

A DOG Cheryl!!! Get Tim a DOG so you guys can get rid of that critter you have in that box!!!

I should have guessed you'd reply to that post, Tony!!! Shouldn't you be working or something?

1st anniversary is paper...so why not tickets to an event? I think I got my dh tix to a baseball game...something he loves. Most guys I know seem to love things like that rather than more stuff, especially if he already has a lot.

Paper, huh? If he hears about that, he'll be expecting cash!!! LOL

Good idea on the tickets, but I can't think of a single show or event coming up he'd be interested in. He isn't into sports, and he works in television (so he gets in free to most events anyway).

And he doesn't "do" theme parks, either.

Maybe a home-made certificate good for special favors....mmmmm

Yep, it's paper. I bought DH a pre-ordered copy of Harry Potter 5. (Is it bad to read your husband's present before him?) And I've been laying major hints that I want tickets to the American Idol show in Birmingham. Only a few more weeks to see if he got the hints!

One gift I gave DH one year was a plaque with a little engraved note and a key....which went to my heart. You could also put together a small scrapbook with memories from your first year together.

Fortune cookies with you own little messages. I have seen them somewhere on the internet.

OR... you will laugh at this......stationary to write you love notes on. You will have to exlain what it is for :)

Excellent ideas, folks! Thanks!

I think I'm probably going to go with the scrapbook idea, primarily because for his "engagement gift" I got him a scrapbook, and he hasn't done anything with it yet.

I think I'll put it together for him, and wrap it up again!!!

Talk about cheap....heh-heh!!!

I gotta go cheap, trust me. More on that next week.

You can't go wrong giving a guy power tools, duct tape, and WD-40. Then you can help him come up with creative ways to use them.

We already have more duct tape than we'll ever use, all the powertools on the planet, and 4 cans of WD-40.

However, I'll add that to my Dad's Christmas list - those are good ideas for HIM!

Cheap? Paper? Hmmmmm.....I GOT IT!! Get him that days edition of The Orlando Sentinel!!!!:p

That's actually not a bad idea, Tony!

Hey, how come you don't post much here anymore? I sure do miss your sick and dry humor on the DIS...

I think you, Crissup and WillyJ ought to post here and keep us entertained! Remember the corn....

How about a picnic on the beach with paper plates with notes on them for special favors you could give him. Can't help in that dept. you know him better. Have fun deciding.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but most of you are thinking about a gift from the FEMALE prospective. Let's all think for a minute..what do guys want??? That's right. So think of a creative way to make that a gift. Professionally done sexy pictures of yourself, lingerie, erotic books... But hey...that's just me.

Glad to hear the male side...

However, and thank GOD, hubby isn't your typical male. He's a good Christian boy, and wouldn't go for those things.

When it comes to our relationship, he's pretty sappy and sentimental about it.

Me too!!!!

But thanks anyway!

On a more serious note, you could hand draw some coupons that could be exchanged with you for various things (like a free back rub from you). I have had success with this idea in the past.
