Our 10 yr. old twins take on the World-For Spring Break. Update 05/19-The End

Day 6- Tuesday March 16th. First full day at Magic Kingdom. Matthew meets Push. Forecast 71 and cloudy.

Today I woke up early once again at 6:45 to get started on our first full day at Magic Kingdom. Our first full day should have been on Friday, but we got rained out mid-morning, and didn’t get to accomplish much that day.
So, I was excited, Magic Kingdom will always be my favorite park, it’s just Disneyland but on the East coast. And, it has Mickey’s Philharmagic, my fave 3D show!:3dglasses

We took the bus this morning to MK, and got there by 8:40. While standing past the turnstyles waiting to get in, the characters and the family of the day rolled in on the train. How lucky to be that chosen family. They threw confetti at us, and in we went.

Our plan of attack was to get Splash Mountain fastpasses and go to Big Thunder Mountain (BTM). We went to Frontierland.
DisneyWorld2010239.jpg

I got our fastpass (FP) for splash and went to BTM. The wait said 5 minutes. Perfect! We got right on and loved it as usual. When we got off I really needed the restroom, so Cliff and the kids went on one more time while I went to the restroom. When I got I out I went to look for them on the ride. I found them on the train and got a picture of them.
DisneyWorld2010238.jpg

They were really on there, somewhere ..........

We walked to Adventureland to do Pirates.
DisneyWorld2010240.jpg

Cliff and Matthew hadn’t done Pirates yet, and once again we walked right on. Too cool! Once we got off, we went through the gift shop and tried some of the props.
DisneyWorld2010241.jpg

Across from Pirates we saw a photopass photographer, so we had to go over for a photopass opportunity.
Image0549.jpg

We walked by this photo opportunity, and the kids had to take a picture like Perky Polly (Stacy).
DisneyWorld2010244.jpg

It was then time for The Haunted Mansion, Sccaaarrryyyy…….. OK, not scary but we do pretend to be scared for the kids, but they don’t buy it at all. I remember the first time they went on Haunted Mansion in Disneyland they were 3 years old. And, as they went on the ride they sat as close as possible to us with their eyes wide open just looking at everything, not quite sure what to make of it all. When they were three, they may have not even known to be scared.

Now they are ten and are too cool to be scared. :cool2:

We walked over to Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse next.
DisneyWorld2010248.jpg

We had just seen the movie a few weeks before, and I’m glad that we did. Cliff had fallen asleep during the movie, so he didn’t enjoy the treehouse quite as much as we did. It really is a good movie, Matthew enjoyed it more than I thought he would. After the treehouse Cliff decided that he now wanted to see the movie. OK, honey. :sad2:

To be Continued:

The jungle cruise was a ten minute wait, so on we went. We had a great tour guide on our boat she was really in character throughout the trip and we laughed at so many of her jokes.

Cliff was starting to get hungry by this time. We had passed some corndogs earlier, and that’s what he wanted. I told him they didn’t look like they were freshly made like at Disneyland, but he already had his mind set.

We decided on doing the Tiki Room first.
DisneyWorld2010250.jpg

I have a picture in the same spot when the kids were 5.

I don’t know why, but I like the show. I think it is great. My ring tone on my phone is the Tiki Room, it is so catchy. I am humming right now ……………. In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, room……………….. I know, crazy……..

So, as we were walking out of the Tiki room, and we're all singing my favorite song, Cliff led us to the corn dogs. They really didn’t even look that good to me. Cliff and Matt got one, and we went into Pecos Bills so they could eat it. They both said it was OK. Yeah, it just looked “OK”. But, while we were in Pecos Bills I decided that’s where I wanted to have lunch. The toppings bar looked really good for a hamburger.

Next it was time for Mickey’s Philharmagic, the best 3D show, ever! The wait was only about 15 minutes, so we waited our turn. Fantasyland was pretty full by this time, which was probably about 11:00. Peter Pan was about a 60 minute wait, crazy! Philharmagic did not disappoint once again. Even Disney Robin enjoyed it, but the glasses wouldn’t stay on her face.
DisneyWorld2010252.jpg

We walked back to Frontierland to use our fastpass for Splash. I wore my poncho, because I was not going to walk around in wet shorts today. I think I like Splash Mtn better in WDW, it seems like there are a few more little dips you go down. Thank goodness I had my poncho because I would have had wet crazy hair afterwards. Cliff and the kids just got a few splashes, they did fine.

We took the train to toon town.
DisneyWorld2010254.jpg

We took the path to tomorrowland and went by that Stupid car ride.
DisneyWorld2010255.jpg

We were still bitter about the fact that we got all wet on that ride, and were not happy at all. We decided to do Montsters Inc. Laugh Floor, which we had never done before. The wait was about 15 minutes, so waited. This show was h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s. We didn’t get picked on, unfortunately, but we had so much fun laughing at everyone else. :rotfl:

After Monsters we were all hungry for lunch. So, off to Pecos Bill’s we went. We got there about 12:30, and it was packed. Earlier at 11:00 there was nobody in there. The lines were all full, but it only took about 10 minutes to order and get our food. The toppings bar had a lot of people around it, but we just patiently waited our turn for our toppings and went and found a table. It was so good, it wasn’t just your typical burger, it was very tasteful. Will eat here again!

We spent a little more time in Adventureland and then went to Tomorrowland to use our fastpass for Buzzlightyear. We were standing in adventureland just checking things out, when all of a sudden Matthew started pointing to something all excited. Matthew has discovered PUSH !

A little boy had put something in Push, and Push started talking to him. The little boy jumped back, and started walking away. Then a little girl was watching eating an apple, and Push started saying, “Apple, Apple!” and the little girl was walking backwards while Push was following her. It was so funny. Cliff and Matthew got a huge kick out of this. I hadn’t told them about Push, so it was a funny surprise.

We did Buzz and Tomorrow Transit, which we had never done before. It was actually a cute little relaxing ride. We enjoyed it. We hung around Tomorrowland a while longer looking for Push, but he was incognito.

We went to Mainstreet to take some photopass pictures in front of the castle before everyone got too tired. We had some good ones done in front of the castle. Just might make a Christmas picture out of one of these this year.

To Be Continued:

The kids were ready for some ice-cream by this time.
DisneyWorld2010260.jpg

DisneyWorld2010261.jpg

I think Cliff really wanted a bite !

It was about 3:00 by then and Cliff and Matt were ready for some resort time. I hadn’t gotten my ice-cream yet, so they went ahead and Megan and I stood in line at the Plaza ice-cream parlor for my Waffle cone sundae. No Disney trip is complete without my waffle cone sundae!
DisneyWorld2010262-1.jpg

We watched the parade while we shared my ice-cream, well Megan was allowed to have a little bit of my sundae. She had already had her ice-cream, right ?

We left once we were done, and were back at the resort by 4:00. Cliff had started some laundry, so Cliff and I took a nap. The kids just rested.

Dinner that night was at the food court.
DisneyWorld2010266.jpg

DisneyWorld2010264.jpg

Matthew had the pizza, I had the pasta with meatball, I have no idea what Cliff and Megan had. I don’t have a receipt for that meal. But, the food at the food court was all very good, we were never disappointed.

After dinner, we got our laundry from the dryer, and got ready for DHS, we were going to see Fantasmic tonight!!! There was an 8:30 show and a 10:00 show.

We drove and got there by 7:00.
DisneyWorld2010267.jpg

We walked around a little bit and got in line about 50 minutes before the show was to start. The line was out to Sunset Blvd, and we started moving in very slowly. We were about halfway there, when over the loudspeaker the announcer said that the rest of us were standing room only. What! :scared1: There was still so many people that had to get in. The show wasn’t going to start for about 30 more minute by this time.

So, we decided to get out of line, and come back to the 10:00 show. We had about an hour before we had to get back in line, so I went in search of the Umbrella photo opp. I had seen many pictures of people under this umbrella, and I wanted some umbrella pictures, too !

I have to end here, but will continue tomorrow ! :)

Just wanted to pop in and say I'm enjoying your TR. Your title caught my eye because I am also a mom of twins (7-year-old boys). For me, one of the advantages of twins is when you travel they have many of the same interests (although that could be different when it's a boy and a girl). It certainly appears your twins enjoy each other's company, which makes travel easier for everyone. :)

Thanks again for the great report!

Who is perky polly and where can i find it???

That's her nick name for Stacey. Since Stacey is so gosh darn perky!

Wooow, a great day at MK so far! I love the little wait times you had on your first rides.

I don't think I've ever had a corn dog at WDW....maybe I'll try it out. Casey's has those mini-ones right?

When I first met Push, I was delighted! It's just so unexpected but such a great surprise! I think I'm going to try video taping him on my next trip.

We love finding Push in MK. My DS loves watching it and is always on the lookout for it. Your photopass pic with Captain Hook is so cool! I wish we had seen that photo opportunity.

Oops, sorry. That is just what Matthew started calling Stacy because she was so perky and bubbly ! :lmao:

It is great for traveling because they will go off and have fun, while we can sit back and relax while watching them. Sometimes, I wish I could have had a twin to grow up with. They do seem to enjoy each other. But, there are times when they are around each other too much, we have to separate them for awhile. ;)

I saw the ones at Casey's but didn't try them. Someone needs to let us know if they are cooked fresh there at Casey's. We are just comparing all corndogs to the awesome ones at Disneyland ! :cloud9:

doesn't Caseys have corn dogs??
They do, have you tried them, are they good ?:confused3

Who or what is Push?
Push is so cool ! :thumbsup2
Sounds like a great day at MK. I can't wait to be there. :goodvibes
You have so much to look forward to ! Your are so lucky to have a WDW trip in your near future ! :goodvibes

Thanks, that is one of our favorite pictures ! :)

He's a talking trash can! He looks just like a normal trash can and is very unsuspecting, but then it comes up and starts having a conversation with you! Usually found in tomorrowland.

So cute...:goodvibes

On my last trip, I found him right outside Cosmic Rays. Where else has he shown up?

A few more Photopass Pictures from Hollywood Studios:

We had fun with this photographer, and he took his time with us. I'll post a couple of more later at DHS. Will post more on my report tomorrow, busy weekend, as usual. Have a great weekend everyone ! :wizard:

I wanna do that balloon picture! It's so much fun when they take the time with you isn't it. I mean it's not cheap to get the cd, and for those of us who do it's nice to get some unique shots. :thumbsup2

Cont'd- In search of Umbrella Photo Opp at DHS

We found the umbrella at Streets of America, and we took our umbrella pictures!
DisneyWorld2010271.jpg

DisneyWorld2010273.jpg

DisneyWorld2010275.jpg

Something I didn't know, is you can make it rain by stepping on a lever at your feet. So, while your under the umbrella, it is raining. Cool !

We then went to Rockin Rollercoaster, the stand by line was 40 minutes. So, we thought we’d be smart and do the single rider line and get on faster that way. Well we finally got on the ride 40 minutes later. Hmm, didn’t beat that standy by line at all! But, it is such a fun ride, and we were glad we did it one last time.
Image0606.jpg

We then went and got some snacks for fantasmic. I got us some popcorn and lemonade. And, some pretzels with cheese. We got in line about 45 minutes before the show.
DisneyWorld2010278.jpg

The line was back to Sunset Blvd. again this time, but nobody was going in because the 8:30 show still had people in it.

We thought the 10:00 show wouldn’t be as packed as before, but it was crazy. This was the biggest crowds we had seen all week. Everyone had the same idea to see fantasmic tonight. We waited about 15 minutes, and then slowly the line started moving slowly forward. By time we sat down, there was still a lot of room to the left of us, we still had about 20 minutes before the show was to start.
DisneyWorld2010280.jpg

Megan was still eating her popcorn, well playing with it .............

We did have good seats, but I don’t think there were any bad seats in the whole auditorium. Well, fanstasmic was awesome as usual. It is so cool. I just love the end with all the Disney characters.
DisneyWorld2010281.jpg

After Fantasmic we walked out with all the thousands of other people that were in the auditorium. We walked to our car and drove home, we were tired, we had a long productive day that day. Thank goodness we got those naps in, it would have been a rough night. Matthew didn’t take a nap, so he fell asleep in the car on the way home, and it was only about ten minutes by the time we got to our parking lot. He was exhausted. I think he was sleeping on his walk to our room. :sad2:

We took our showers and went to bed tired, but happy with our Magical day.
Tomorrow is our last full day at Disney, and also the worst day of our whole trip. Well, about 2 hours of it was the worst ever! It almost ruined our whole Disney trip.

Stay tuned .........................

Oh no, it must have been something aweful to almost ruin your whole trip! :scared1:
I love all of your PP pictures. You ended up with some really unique ones.
