Our 10 yr. old twins take on the World-For Spring Break. Update 05/19-The End

Robin, I am enjoying your TR. It looks like aside from the drizzle, you had a nice week with low crowds! I am so sorry that your DH doesn't love WDW. You are a good wife - five years is such a long time! Love your new bag and
your twins are beautiful!

Haha I think you map was in German! Love this update, you had a much better epcot experience then we did, buuuuut i guess you would just have to hop over to my TR to find out about that......(shameless plug) :lmao: TO be fair, I havent gotten to our Epcot day yet though!

You have a really cute family, I cannot wait until we have a child to take, so we can see the magic through their eyes.

Thank you ! :) 5 years is a long time, thank goodness Disneyland is SO much closer for those in-between trips. :cloud9:

Oh, German ! Ha Ha, I am still laughing about that. :rotfl::rotfl:
I can't wait to read your shameless plug. :thumbsup2

I'm all caught up and can't wait for the next installment!

Haha, Robin, that whole German park map thing is HILARIOUS!! :rotfl:

And I also think what you did with the duct tape on your suitcases was a great idea! I'm definitely doing that on my next trip.

I want to see more of Disney Robin! I love that gal!

Oh yes, I wanted to ask, where did you get the sign you put on your window? Did you make it yourself? Or is there somewhere on DIS I can get it for my trip?

Just found your TR :surfweb: and am all caught up! You have a beautiful family, looking forward to an update!

I have booked our family trip for Sept '10 at Caribbean Resort (I've never stayed there). I was looking for trip report from someone who stayed there, so I could find out all I could about the resort & that's how I found your trip report.
What's so neat is that I'm your age and I also have boy/girl twins that are 10 years old (& my girl is one minute older too)!! And, this will also be our 2nd WDW trip.
Your twins are adorable. I am so enjoying your trip report and cannot wait to see if you enjoyed the CBR.

just joining in....really enjoying your TR.

We are going to stay at CBR for 8 nights as well, also, renting a car which is something I am still debating if I should just use the buses althought I see so far that you have used the car from airport to WDW and buses within ..(is this a waste of money though.. ? (no offense just asking ...) )

Looking forward to read more ..!! :worship:

I got the sign somewhere on the Disboards. I think I googled green mickey heads or something. :confused3 Yeah, we have a lot of fun with
Disney Robin.

Wow - you guys got a lot done that day. Good job! :thumbsup2

:yay: for short waits!
Yeah, we really did well that day ! :thumbsup2

Great TR so far :thumbsup2

LOVE your laminated Mini-Me....such a fun idea!!!
Everyone back home enjoyed her when I would text a picture to them. :lmao:

What a coincidence ! It was so much easier and funner this time with the kids being ten. I LOVED CBR ! :cloud9: In Sept. the weather will be perfect to lay on the sandy beaches !

I would definately rent a car again. We drove to the beach also. (you will read, later) And, we would drive out of WDW for meals. After the first few days we would drive to the parks (except for MK) and DTD. Without the ridiculous insurance we paid 250.00 for 8 days. Not that bad, I think. You will have a blast ! :wizard:

Day 3- World Showcase, swimming, and Big River Brewing Co. (Also, Matthew gets stabbed at Epcot!)

This morning we got to sleep in. Wonderful. We slept till about 9:00, which is surprising for us. Especially Matthew. He’s usually up at the crack of dawn.

Our goal was to get to Epcot about 11:00 to have lunch and tour the world showcase. We took our time getting ready and having our continental breakfast in our room. The kids and I went to the gift shop to pick up my purse because I didn’t have a chance the day before. Matthew would always run ahead of us, and swing in the hammock. Megan joined him today.
DisneyWorld2010115.jpg

While in the gift shop we did some shopping. I bought me a new lanyard, lanyard pouch, and about 3 new pins. Megan bought the surprise pin pack, both were chip and dale. This trip the kids got into the pin trading craze. Megan started her pin trading with these two pins. Somehow, by time our little shopping spree was over, I spent 85.36. I was just supposed to pick up my purse! I really do enjoy souvenir shopping at Disney.

Here's the fountain in front of the Banana Cabana.

We got back to the room and everyone got ready for our day at Epcot. Today was supposed to be 69 and windy. But, no rain. Yay. :yay: We decided to drive to Epcot. We left our room at 11:00 and got in the car. We turned on Emily (GPS), and 5 minutes later, we were there. We said if we were taking a bus, we probably would still be waiting. Who knows. The walk to the front gate was very close. We realized that when we got on the tram, and were at the front within minutes.

Once we were in Epcot, we checked the times guide for the rides. And, we made sure to pick up a park map, but in english this time. :rotfl: Most of the big ones were about a 30 minutes wait. Today Ellens Energy Adventure was running, and was only a 5 minute wait. We decided to do that first. It was a fun ride. We learned about energy and were educated all at the same time. I think Ellen makes it more enjoyable. It is a long ride so by time we got out, we were hungry.

Cliff wanted tacos, so we went to Mexico, of course. But, there wasn’t really anywhere that we could just walk up and get tacos. So, Cliff and the kids went to Sunshine Seasons and I went to York County Fish shop for fish and chips. I met them at sunshine seasons to eat our food. There seemed like a big selection to choose from in Sunshine Seasons for everyone.

After lunch we started touring the countries, starting with Canada.
DisneyWorld2010122.jpg

We kinda just walked around and checked things out, took pictures here and there.
DisneyWorld2010123.jpg

The weather was warm today when the wind wasn’t blowing. We’d take off our sweatshirts, then put them back on, back and forth.

Somewhere around United Kindgdom, Matthew found a cart that had club Penguin mystery pins. We hadn’t seen Club Penguin pins yet, so he was excited about that. But, he still planned to go to the Pokémon store in Japan, so he was waiting to spend his money.
DisneyWorld2010125.jpg

On the bridge to France.
DisneyWorld2010128.jpg

Oh La La, Le Paris .................

In Morocco we got some drinks. Cliff got a Casa Beer and I got some tropical smoothie at one of the carts there. They were pretty good, and they kept us going while we toured the countries.

Finally we get to Japan, this is the only country the kids were interested in. Megan wanted to shop Hello Kitty,
DisneyWorld2010130.jpg

and Matthew for Pokémon.
DisneyWorld2010132.jpg

They looked around for probably a good half hour, while we sat outside and sipped our drinks. Matthew finally got a Pokémon Platinum book, cards, and Stuffed Mew (FYI, that’s a Pokémon character) we had it shipped to our resort because the book was heavy.

Megan never bought anything at all. We were disappointed with the merchandise in the Hello Kitty store. She likes more of the mini stuff, like candies, gums, art stuff. We had gone to a Hello Kitty store in Portland, Or in December and they had so much cute stuff in there. We should have bought more in Oregon, but we said we would save our money for WDW. Oh well, she definitely spent her money at other stores as our vacation went on.

DisneyWorld2010131.jpg

Disney Robin likes Hello Kitty, too !

Salute to America.

We went around the rest of the countries. I had originally planned to get a funnel cake in America, but after my drink I was too sweeted out. So, we just walked through the rest of the countries.

I don't know why, but the kids always have to try these things whenever we see them.

Matthew was regretting not getting the Club Penguin pins, so we looked at all the pin stations while we walked around. We didn’t find any. So, once we were done walking around, we went back to United Kingdom to get his pins.

Matthew gets his pins; we sit down while he takes them out of the package. The first one he gets out of the package, takes off the back of the pin, and lays the pin down on the wall. Well, for some reason he reaches down, and lays his land on the pin which is sticking straight up. He lifts his hand up, and the pin is sticking all the way into the palm of his hand! All the way!

I yelled “Cliff, pull it out!” I had meant to say for Matt to pull it out. I wasn't thinkin straight. :confused3 Matthew is just sitting there in shock, Cliff is standing there wondering how that had happened, and I am NOT pulling the pin out. All I could imagine was a bunch of blood squirting out after I pulled it out! And, I do not do well in a crises, obviously. So, Cliff finally gets his bearings and pulls it out.

No blood came out at all! Whew. We then all finally breathe. I think because the pin went into the fatty part of his hand, that there was no blood. Thank Goodness.

We asked Matthew if it hurt, he said just a little. Then we start making fun about the whole thing. We couldn’t believe that Matthew got stabbed with a trading pin at Disney World!

They were cute pins, though. One pin was an orange penguin with Mickey ears; I didn’t let him trade that one at all. It really is cute. So, as soon as we all recovered from the stabbing we needed a drink!

Off to Club Cool we went. The kids were excited about getting free soft drinks! Yay, Mom is letting us have coke, whoo-hoo! So, they tried the different drinks, and then I got the camera out because Beverly was up next. Both the kids tried it at the same time and made a horrible face at the same time. I got a good picture of it.
DisneyWorld2010142.jpg

Cliff actually liked the Beverly. But, he likes bitter beer. He’s weird like that.
I told the kids they could get an ice-cream after club cool. But, while in Club Cool they saw the suckers, so they decided on a sucker instead. At that point we were pretty much done for the day. We asked the kids if they wanted to stay or go to CBR and swim in the pool. Hmm, wonder what they wanted. Pool, it is! So, we decided to get some photopass pictures done and call it a day.
Here's some pictures of different shrubbery at Epcot that we thought was cool.

DisneyWorld2010137.jpg

We walked back to the car and got to CBR in record time. We got our mugs and popcorn and went down to the pool. I went to the food court and filled our mugs and popped our popcorn. We just hung out by the pool while the kids swam. We stayed there about an hour and went to the room to get ready for dinner.

Tonight was the Big River Brewing Co. Cliff brews his own beer, so I thought he would like this restaurant since they are a brewing co. We drove to The Boardwalk about 6:00. We checked in and the wait was 30 minutes for inside, or right away for outside seating. It was chilly outside that night, so we were not going to be eating our dinner in the cold.

While we waited Megan and I went to the store next to the Brewery while Cliff and Matthew waited on a bench outside.

The wait was only about 20 minutes, not too bad. When we got seated I noticed that Cliff and Matthew had some Disney stickers on their jackets. They said a little girl went up to them, and put stickers on them. They said she was so cute.

So Cliff got the beer that had just come out the day before because it was half off today. It was an Irish Red lager for 3.50. Then he ordered the beer sampler. It had 7 samples of the different beers they had available. The was 7.50 for the sampler, not bad. I didn’t try any of them because I do not like beer at all. I am a tropical, fruity, foo-foo, with an umbrella kind of gal.

For dinner Cliff had the meatloaf, I had the Hazelnut crusted chicken, Matthew had the burger and fries and Megan had the pasta. My meal was great. It was one of my favorite meals. Cliff really enjoyed his meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Matthew was an oinker. He ate his Burger and fries, finished Cliff’s meatloaf, and finished my chicken. We were all totally stuffed. We really enjoyed our meal here. I am so sorry I have no pictures.

After our yummy meal, I went to the Boardwalk Bakery because I had to go get a piece of the Chocolate Peanut Butter cake that LurkyLoo has mentioned in her trip report. I was too full to eat any cake, so I saved it for later in our room. I drove us home because Cliff had enjoyed the brewery too much for him to drive tonight.

When we got back to our room, we got ready for bed. I poured some milk for myself and Matthew and I enjoyed some P. Butter/Choc cake. OMG it was awesome!
DisneyWorld2010151.jpg

We took our showers and got in bed. We watched Pirates of the Caribbean that night once we were all tucked in. Cliff was out before Capt. Jack Sparrow even made an appearance. The rest of us were out soon after. We had a great day that day. Stabbing and all!

Day 3 is over and we have so much more to come.

Day 4: We go to the Beach! :beach:

hahaha.....You didn't tell me about me about the German map! :rotfl2: And you never mentioned the stabbing :scared1: I would have freaked out!! Did Matthew even cry??? Crazy! I'm loving this trip report!!! Keep it coming. And we want more DisneyRobin!!! ;)

Great update :thumbsup2You always leave me wanting more! It's funny that you have a name for your GPS, I thought I was the only goofy person to name their GPS! My Gps is Gloria. Where exactly is Club Cool? I would love to trick my kids into tasting the Beverly:rotfl2: My husband is not a big fan of Epcot:confused3 so we don't spend much time there.

What a great update. What day exactly were you at Epcot? We were there March 16th.

really loving your trip report, we go Spring Break (April, I'm assuming it will be Spring Break) next year when my DD will be 10 so really interested to hear about the crowds and what your DD liked xx

Yeah, We really enjoyed furture world, but the world showcase wasn't as fun. Club cool is past Spaceship Earth on the right hand side when you walk in. I can't find it looking at the map I brought home. But, it is there. And, I am looking at my english map! :lmao:

What a great update. What day exactly were you at Epcot? We were there March 16th.
We were there on the 12th, evening. And, the 13th for the day. I have read the beginning of your report, I need to get caught up. :thumbsup2

The crowds weren't bad at the beginning of our trip, but as the week went on, it did get busier. Just get there before rope drop, and always have a fastpass.

Yay, Canada!

How much was that cool Mickey cap Megan had on?

I LOVE the Japanese pavilion too. I'm so excited to see all that Hello Kitty and pokemon stuff! And awwwww, a stuffed Mew must be SOO cuute! It looked like there was a lot of Hello Kitty clothing, am I right?

Just checked Megan's recepts, she paid 13.95. The funny thing is that I thought it was some type of Princess Pirate kind of hat. When I got home and showed people the pictures, they said that looks like a Ed hardy design. He's some famous tattoo artist. What! I had no idea. :confused3 Sure enough, on the receipt the description is: MM tattoo ears. Nice for a 10 yr. old, huh ?
They did have some Hello Kitty clothes in there. Purses. Lots of stuff.
