Been to the Chiropractors today:D Nothing much in that, you may ask, but this is the White Coat Phobic who even quakes at the thought of her bi-annual sight test (tomorrow:rolleyes:  ).

I've had this problem with my "good" foot for over six weeks now (I say good because I managed to mangle my other ankle and have now got a full meccano set up my leg;) ) and I have been worrying about whether or not 'whatever' it was would be better by October for our Florida trip. Well, it wasn't getting any better, it really was very painful - so thought I'd see the docs. But, talking to my hairdressers about it last week, she'd just come from a client who sounded as though he'd got exactly the same thing, he'd seen a chiropractor and was now fine. So, DH recommended his (his old body needs to see one regularly, bless, too much sport you see;) ). So, we had consecutive appointments with the lovely Clive this afteroon.

And oh bliss - was it worth it . . . and he hasn't even started on me old back and neck yet;)

Apparently (and forgive me here if I'm insulting any medical professions out there), I've got a condition on the bottom of my foot (don't ask me to repeat it, it had to many ixy, axcy or poxy somethings in it:eek: ) where the muscles have "decompartmentalised", inflamed and stretched. So with some manipulation, traction and just plain twisting, something clicked back into place. I even had "dry needle" treatment  However, I face a few months of intensive exercise, ice and - he he - massaging of the bottom of my foot by DH (no, he's not impressed - well, you've not seen my feet:p ).

So, long way to go, but already the pain is a lot better and I'm looking forward to my second round of tugging by the lovely Clive next week.

I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself as I'm such a cynic about these sorts of things . . but can highly recommend it. I suspect my doc would have said, x-ray to see if broken, rest, strap it up and six months down the line I'd still be in blasted agony.

Thanks Clive:)

Annie, I couldn't read all yer thread coz I'm a tad squeamish (well, I am a bloke yer kna!) but see there's a smile at the end so assume it's turned out alright.

I'm pleased yer ok (ah think), Pet.

i've just stopped going to a chiropractor due to a bad back and it really sounds worse than it feels

honest !

;)

Hi Annie

Sorry to hear you have a foot problem as well, it's a pain isn't it, especially when you have a holiday on the horizon? I really hope this treatment works for you and you are fit enough to enjoy your trip in October.

I have only 4 months until our trip now, but still not progressing very well. I had another set back 2 weeks ago. I had a new insole made which was more comfortable, problem was, it wasn't supportive enough and 4 days later the bone in the ball of my foot started hurting again, so back to the painkillers and uncomfy insole! I will have plenty to say to the consultant when I see him in a month I can tell you, why they gave me the insert if it's not suitable heaven knows!

Originally our trip to WDW was to be for 3 hotels but I have just changed it to the Dolphin for the whole stay, as I found our holiday in Jersey very tiring as my energy levels are just not at the same level as they used to be, and I thought 3 lots of packing and unpacking (blame the kids!) would be too much. We are definitely going though, I am prepared to use a wheelchair when necessary, we had to hire one in Jersey, so I think I will definitely need one in WDW unless a miracle happens!

Good Luck with the rest of your treatment, let us know how you are progressing! :D

Thanks everyone.

Mazzy - I remember when you were beginning to have problems with your foot - and all the different people you saw. Fortunately I seem to have hit the mark first time. I too may have to wear special insoles, so you'll have to give me some tips. Oh, by the way, Maz - love your Xmas smily thingies and Santa and his reindeer;)

Hi Annie

Yes, my foot is turning into a saga isn't it? LOL!!! I have no tips re wearing insoles except to say that it does get more comfortable as time goes on, but I am going again tomorrow to see the fitter to see if he can adjust the one I have as it is still causing me discomfort on one side, but your insoles may be entirely different to mine so don't listen to me, you will probably be fine!

Yes the smilies are great aren't they? I am trying to forget about my foot and get in the mood for the Holiday. Mind you, I had a bit of a shock yesterday when I was quoted $400 to hire a electric scooter to get me round WDW for 2 weeks! DH was shocked when I told him, but if there is no improvement in my foot by then, I won't have any choice but to pay it!

I really hope this treatment works for and are fit for your trip in October. :D
