Ouch!! No good deals announced!! No fd!!

Lest anyone forget.....FD was offered for Sept. dates even back before the economy tanked. That's the toughest time of year for WDW to fill their rooms, always has been. Since the promotion has been enormously successful in filling rooms, my money is on Disney keeping some version of it for their slowest month of the year.

Typically, the FD dates started the Sunday before Labor Day and went through late September or early October. If anything gets cut, it will probably be (no inside info here, just a guess!) shortening the FD dates back to what they used to be, instead of starting them in mid August and running into October. The Oct-Nov-Dec FD dates have only been offered recently when the economy prevented most of us from traveling unless we got a stellar discount. Disney Visa Card holders got scattered Oct-Nov-Dec dates in 2008, the general public for the first (and maybe only) time in 2009.

With all things Disney, it's merely speculation on what may or may not be offered. We won't know until they announce it, and even then they can tweak room allotments and black out dates until they fill their rooms. It's just business.

As I stated before, it will be interesting to see what they offer for the fall. There was an article under the news section here a few months ago stating that Disney stated that they were losing too much money on the free dining (guess people booking at values and getting free dining). Maybe they will either offer the QSDP or will just offer a room discount. For us a room discount is better than the FD since we stay at the BWV and FD would mean paying rack rate ($650/night) vs. a discount on the villa. We priced it both ways last year and the discount was much better than the free dining. Good luck to all - hope you get what you want. I hope if they offer FD it start after Aug. 19 since that is when our trip is done. Except for last year we have made it through our trips without the free dining kicking in - last year they actually started the free dining a week earlier.

I couldn't stand it anymore so I called today to see if there was a PIN under my name. For our trip the last of September, my ADR date is this Saturday, so I was getting anxious! The CM stated that I had a room only discount, so I proceeded to tell him of my hold out for FD! He said in his OPINION there was no way FD would come out this week because they just put out a deal today. I went ahead and booked my trip and then if FD comes out later I can modify my reservation. I obviously didn't save AS MUCH as I would have with FD but I did save over $500 which is obviously better than nothing! So I am still keeping my fingers crossed but my nerves couldn't take it anymore.

What was the "deal" that came out today?
Am I missing something? I don't see anything for the GP that goes beyond 8/14.

hey guy! im anxious along with you! but a friend of mine whos is a dvc member said a yr ago or so the free dining was released on April 1st to vc member then the 4th to the general public! so lets not lose hope yet!!! im just hoping for the best!!! lets hope :tink: sprinkles some magic dust on those people and bring us some dream vacations!!!

Maybe they put this deal out to see how many people will fall for it! You were smart by booking! atleast u have a spot and some money saved! I think I am going to follow what you did and if a better deal comes I will modify it! Im just done waiting and want to get excited!!!:yay:

I doubt the kids eat and play free would be the fall promo because it doesn't work for everyone. Not every person loves FD but technically anyone could get it and save $$ with it. To take advantage of Kids eat and play free you have to have kids in that age range and many people don't so, I'd be surprised if that was the only deal, too narrow of a demographic to benefit from it. Plus this is a time of year when kids are in school so I doubt that promo would fill rooms the way FD hs in the past. Some people will pull kids out, but many won't and for that deal, it might not be worth it.

I don't know if FD will come, but I think either it will or something else good will. Disney won't risk empty rooms and empty parks during hurricaine season.

It's sad - but I could see it - it would be no different than the 'Kids Sail Free' offer on DCL. It doesn't apply to everyone - but they offer it. Hmmmm - now I am REALLY curious and the anticipation is killing me :confused3

I agree with you! I do not have kids so it won't help me at all! and it just seems to risky for them to not come out with a better deal. I do believe they will come out with s deal starting in April. lets just stay positive!!!:woohoo:

A promotion like that seems rather ill-advised during the timeframe we're talking about here..... right after school starts....... Granted, it never stopped ME from taking my kids out of school.... but it's a slap in the face to those who won't or can't.

I remember the same level of heightened anxiety as we waited last year for free dining to be announced.... would this be the first year they didn't?????? :scared1: And they did.......

It will come soon. Or you can all post back and ridicule me with those adorable little laughing emoticons..........

I unfortunately have to wait even longer and might not get ANY deal. We're going in December.

i have a free dining pin for a trip up until 8/14 and with the % off the wilderness, i can go for 7 days and have concierge for cheaper than i ever expected. if i go ahead and book this with free dining and later another date comes out for the fall, can i switch it??

i want to wait and see what happens with the fall because i originally wanted to go end of august..but i don't want to pass up this deal. my niece and i can deal with the heat if it means we get to go for longer/cheaper.

anyone? :)

I booked with a 30% off room discount a while back. I figured out that it's saving us over $1000, which FD wouldn't.

We're also holding out for a discount. We booked our trip for October way back in November already. I was really hoping that a FD discount would be added along the way, with having 4 "adults" booked on the dining plan. Even a 30% would help us, but not nearly as much as FD would. Here's to hoping!

:surfweb:
Maybe tomorrow morning...

It sounds like you might want to book the FD with the PIN as well as a room discount. Maybe I'm just reading it incorrectly, but it's one or the other just so you know.

I thought the PINs can't be combined with % discounts? I have a PIN for FD and it says that it applies to rooms booked at rack rate. The 40% off that was offered until last week was a bigger savings than the FD PIN, so I used that.

Right, they can't be combined. I thought reading your post that you thought they could be.

oh! so you can either get free dining or you can get the room discount? but you can't do both? i guess i was confused because the information came in the same email. dang. well..i'll work something out. :D

Can you please copy and paste the text from your email here (without the actual 15 digit pin code of course)? Was it from Disney Destinations? If they're in a single email then I wonder if this is a single deal. The UK has deals with both room discount AND free dining. I haven't heard of anybody getting a PIN code for this in quite a while but who knows, maybe you've got a HUGE amount of pixie dust sent your way?
