Ouch! Just booked two rooms at Atlantis

Well, someone has to speak for the minority, so I guess it's me. Our family spent a week at Atlantis two years ago and rented a room at Comfort Suites last summer while on a Royal Caribbean cruise. We love the place and our only real complaint has been that we had to go home. It is not a perfect place, the staff could use some happy pills, it is very expensive, etc., but we love it. Only you can determine whether it is worth the money. We are planning a Disney cruise for this summer and the first thing I did was to get on the Comfort Suites web site and reserve a room so we can go back. Good luck with your decision.

just back! Great trip, great memories....just a tip regarding the atlantis....you can get a day rate there!!! I was willing to pay the $868.00 for the 2 rooms, but when checking out, they gave me a $400.00 credit....all I had to do was ask and the hotel/desk manager gave all in our group....(total of 4 rooms) a $200.00 credit per room... So all in all, it cost me a total of $108.00 more than booking the $60 atlantis excursion through Disney for 6 people. That $108 gave us all the use of the entire resort....beach was awesome, kids loved the pools and slides,
what else can I say....Awesome, can't wait to go back...One day is not enough to see everthing. Will definetely go back for at least a 4 nite 5 day trip!

crissyp,
When I called comfort suites they said there is no day rate. I had to rent the room for a night which was $175. I just want to clarify. You asked for the day rate when you checked out or when you booked the room?

when I booked atlantis, I was told there was no day rate...I booked 2 rooms for the night. Upon checkout, after a great day at the Atlantis when we told the desk manager we were from the disney cruise and we're only there for the day, she gave my a credit of $200.00 for each room ($400.00) and referred to it as "day use only"...
Hope that helps!

also, $175.00 is great, not sure how many in your family, but if you are a family of 4...and book the excursions through disney, this is the cheaper way to go, and you than have full use of the pools/slides and their beach!

Glad you all had a great time! Thanks for the update. We are also considering Atlantis, and trying to gather info. A few ?'s please.

What time did they let you check in? You said you would do this again, did they tell yuo when calling them to ask for the "day rate"? How did you travel to Atlantis? Taxi? I read the surf is too strong to swim in on others post, but you didn't say that? Does the resort guest get a different beach area than the dcl tour? Do you know which beach dcl goes on there?

Thanks so much for the help! MKY princess:

hey Mky!

I hope these answers will help! After we docked in Nassau, we walked to the straw market, spent a good hour there. Believe me, there will be plenty of willing taxi drivers looking for your business....One really nice man, walked with us to the straw market, and hung out with the guys in our group who where not interested in shopping. We were a group of 14, he charged $4 pp
to drive us to the Atlantis, and told us he'd pick us up at 7 pm and sure enough he was there waiting for us....

Day rate at the atlantis, when I called back in Feb. they told me they did not offer a room for day use...Now that I'm thinking about, I probably did'nt talk to someone actually in the Atlantis.
I just called the 800 number listed in there site...Upon checking out, we explained we were disney cruisers checking out and that we would not be staying over night. As soon as we arrived at Atlantis we were able to check in, we had 4 rooms booked in total, one of mine was available, the others in our party did not ever see their room...We were then able to walk to get our braclets and off we went.

The Atlantis beach was wavy, I'm not going to say rough..It was beautiful just laying in the most amazing blue colored waves floating around. I believe the beach we were on was just for Atlantis guests. Disney excursions with the Atlantis get to use the end of the beach, I did'nt actually see so I can't comment on that. It was a beautiful day, 88 degrees, sunny, but the water was much cooler than I expected.

Food is very expensive, oh hell, the whole place is very expensive, but it really is beautiful, and yes I would go back, but this time I'd make sure I could stay longer!

Good Luck and try your hardest to get the day rate!
