OTUs

I thought I read that you can buy OTU points online while booking a reservation but I am not seeing any way to do that. Do you have to call to buy OTUs? If so, do you do it before you are actually booking (so they’re in your account in case the room you want pops up) or do you have to buy the OTUs and book in one transaction? If I have to call I’m sure the room I want will be gone by the time I can get it sorted out…

You do have to call. It’s been recommended that you call to book a reservation before the one you want. Then cancel it so the OTU points are in your account for when you can book the actual reservation that you want.

OTUPs cannot be purchased online. You have to call MS to purchase them and you must book a reservation using them at the time of purchase. The reservation must be no more than 7 months from the day that you are making the reservation. If you cancel that reservation, the points go into your account but will expire at the end of your UY and cannot be banked.
