OTU Points Refund Questions

Hi Disfriends!

I am looking to book a long weekend in early March, 2024. To make the booking, I would use all my remaining Feb UY 2024 points to book our long weekend. I would like to purchase a few OTU points to round out that reservation, so that I don't have to borrow into my 2025 points. Long story very short, it's the beginning of DS's spring break, and the end of DS's gf's spring break, so there are some variables that are unclear at this time. Because of this, I might need to cancel and reschedule the trip, which is the reason I've been dragging my feet on making the reservation.

If I book and purchase OTU points and I cancel the reservation before the 30 day window, do the OTU points get refunded to the credit card used to purchase them? Or, am I just "out" the OTU points? If I make another reservation, can I purchase OTU points for that reservation? I'm a relatively new DVC owner, and I'm trying to figure out how OTU points work.

Also, do I need to call MS to make a reservation with OTU points? I couldn't see a way to purchase them online.

Any info and/or advice would be awesome. Thank you!

As a Disney Vacation Club Member, occasionally you may find yourself in need of just few extra Vacation Points in order to book that perfect dream vacation. You can bank, borrow and transfer from another Contract. Or take advantage of another option: one-time-use Vacation Points.

You have the option to purchase up to 24 additional Vacation Points each Use Year. One-time-use points may be used for Disney Vacation Club accommodations in the 7-month booking window. One-time-use points may not be used for Home Resort Priority. A Member may purchase one-time-use Vacation Points for Disney Collection and World Collection reservations, provided the booking window for that trip is open (for example, Disney Cruise Line reservations may be open up to 2 years in advance). One-time-use Vacation Points may not be purchased for options offered through hotel exchange.

The purchase just needs to occur at the time you're making the reservation that requires them.

  • Rates are subject to change, but currently Members enjoy a rate of $20 per one-time-use Vacation Point including taxes. That's $17.77 per one-time-use Vacation Point plus $1.16 tax (6.5%) plus $1.07 resort tax (6%).
  • You won't be able to cancel or refund your purchase of one-time use Vacation Points, nor will you be able to transfer, bank or borrow them.
  • In the event that your trip does not unfold as planned and your reservation must be cancelled, be aware that one-time-use Vacation Points expire at the end of your Use Year.
Availability of one-time-use Vacation Points may be limited or suspended from time to time, and the fee is subject to change.

To purchase one-time-use Vacation Points to complete a booking, contact Member Services at (800) 800-9800† or (407) 566-3800†.

As other say - no refund on OTU points, and you can't bank or borrow, and you have to call MS to use them. (And if you cancel they don't show up in your on-line account, so you would have to call to rebook.

You can now use them online if you cancel. They will show up in a temporary contract that can be chosen when booking.
