Otterbox commuter for ipod touch?

Is this a good one to get? I don't know anything about them other than what I read on here! Need one for dd's new ipod touch. I saw reflex and something else but the commuter was cheaper.

I just purchased the otterbox DEFENDER (from amazon/cheapest) for my daughters IPod touch. It is supposed to offer the most protection.

We have the Commuter cases from Otterbox for our phones (HTC Evo's and Iphone 4s) and the Defender for Itouch. We like the Commuter and don't see much difference in it compared to the Defender that is bulky and the fact that it comes with a static screen protector. The commuter cases will do just fine as long as you're not letting your daughter run over it with a truck or something.

For the ipod we have the defender case.

For my iphone I have the commuter case as the kids don't play with that as much.

My ipad even has an otter box case on it now.....it isn't the defender, it is called the Reflex.

My DH's coworker's wife bought him the Defender case for his new phone. He thought she was CRAZY to spend so much money.

Fast forward 6 months.....He was working in the field and realized his phone was on his tool box. He got out and it was gone, so he back the truck up and ran over it - twice, once when it fell off and when he back up. Not a scratch on it. He put it in a bag in the truck so he wouldn't lose it again.

A few hours later, he was burning some brush, so as the pile dwindled, he decided to toss in some trash out of the truck....yep, tossed in the bag with the phone. As soon as he did it, he retrieved it.

Defender case melted and had to be cut off. Phone workes fine with only one melted spot in the corner which you can't see as his NEW Defender series Otterbox covers it up.

I just bought my 9 year old ds the otter box defender and I'm so glad that I did. I love how it comes with a built in screen protector- those things are a pain to put on when you put the stick on kind on. He dropped his iPod out of a bunk bed on a hardwood floor, and thanks to the case the iPod touch was just fine.

I have a defender case for my iPhone4, I like that it comes with a screen protector already built in to the plastic case. Installing those stick on ones is difficult and I never get it right.

I will have 2 new ipod users in the family come Christmas morning and am in need of cases. How invasive is the Otterbox Defender, meaning how much does it hinder the use of the ipod? It looks very invasive to me, looks extremely bulky to use the device.

I don't look at it as invasive, I look at it like it's protecting my very pricey investment. You can use all the normal functions of the device by just opening the little rubber plugs that fit in to protect the holes of the device.

I'd love to have a slimmer case but I drop my phone all the time and a defender case saves me from having a cracked screen (which happened to my 3G iPhone, so when I got my 4 my husband suggested me getting an otterbox).

I have the defender for my iPhone. I have had it for over two years and my phone looks like it is new from the box. I have dropped it numerous times on tile, concrete, roads you name it. The defender does the job! I would not have anything else for my phone and just bought a new one for my new iPhone 4s. You can find them cheaper on eBay then the oyyerbox site!

I just bought commuter from ebay and I'll post to let you know how it looks in person. I got it because I want to be able to use it with the best skins ever skin. I don't think the defender would work with that particular skin because it already has a build in one. I'm hoping the commuter will work with the BSE.

We girls have the Defenders on their ipod touches. They are great. They were recommended by the tech at the Apple Store.

I have an Otterbox Commuter for my iPhone (in viola and white). I just got it a few days ago since it was back ordered and I am very happy with it. It is a two part design and it looks like it will be very sturdy. I didn't want a Defender because I thought it was going to be big and bulky. The Commuter is bulky enough ... it is far bulkier than the Speck Candyshell Flip that was previously on the phone. I liked the Candyshell too but it didn't fit my iphone 4s well as there is a slight change in the location of the mute switch. My DD has my old iPhone 3G as a iPod Touch and she has a regular Speck Candyshell on it. She loved all the available colors.

I got one on eBay, it was missing the attached screen protector but it came with the case and the outside rubbery case for $7.99. I only bought it because I already had one but wanted it in pink.

If you want one complete you'll probably spend $15-30 depending on the color you want on eBay. Which is still cheaper than buying it at bext buy or even amazon.

I just got my dd a purple Defender on ebay for $27 for her new Ipod Touch. She has a cute silicone case on the Touch she has now but I told her that I would not be replacing the (new) 32GB she is getting for Christmas. I don't care how bulky the case is, she'll have to deal

i don't have it for my ipod, but i have the otterbox commuter for my blackberry. i've dropped it a million times and it's still safe and sound because of the otterbox case. i did have to replace the case once, but it's been a year since my phone's been getting dropped and flung around, so i think that's pretty good still.
