The Johnstown bridge is my favourite. We did come back through Cornwall the last time and it was much better than Montreal. But as I said again, if the price is right.....
We are not from Ottawa but we visit there about every 2 years. My uncle's live there. Well they have now moved to Vars, but they used to live in the city. We love Ottawa. My oldest (8yrs old) says he is going to move to Ottawa when he grows up, he loves it so much
I'm a transplanted Nova Scotian, now living in Orleans (Fallingbrook South/Avalon area). We always drive to Syracuse and usually fly Jetblue, but I am very interested in the Plattsburgh information! The first time we went to Orlando we flew on a charter into Sanford. It was relatively easy to find our way.
A couple of us in our neighbourhood (Riverside South) who are big Disney nuts are planning on doing a "How to Plan A Disney Trip" night in conjunction with our Community Association in September or October. I'll let everyone here know about it when we have the date nailed down.
We're in Manotick. Last trip we flew out of Syracuse on Jet Blue at less than half the rate of any other airline flying out of Ottawa! Hoping to do it again Feb. '11.
Another Ottawan here - Beacon Hill. We own 3 weeks of timeshare in Orlando so travel there fairly often - but not 3 weeks a year. We trade or rent some weeks. DW is a school teacher so visits are always for March break - this year we are taking extended family - 4 adults (or 5?), 4 kids, from 3 families, in 3 villas.
Usually fly from Montreal (since it's not their March break), but flying direct from Ottawa this year. Despite the cost, there is one huge benefit with Westjet. The flight down is morning, but the flight back is late evening. That means basically a whole extra day with the Mouse.
Another here in Ottawa looking for flights south...and hoping for a seat sale.
Our family of four is headed on a Disney cruise in mid-February 2011, and don't like the current asking price of around $2400! We'd rather not do the drive down to Syracuse (especially with a two year old), but the potential $1000 savings are awfully attractive!
I work for the public school board in Ottawa so March Break it is. We tried to head south this summer but it was just too hot. If it's just DH and I, we fly but if we're taking a gang, like next March, we drive.
We're driving. We head down south at least once a year my DS (10) lives in GA so we go down to visit him.
Always drive. Just can't beat the price due to the fact that we would need to rent a car and everything once we got there. Hotels get covered by Best Western GC using airmiles really helps though.
Last week I booked a flight from Plattsburgh NY (about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Ottawa) to Orlando for $110 return, taxes in for 2 weeks from now. I'll let everyone know how it works out. I've never flown from there before but you certainly can't beat the price.
