Ok, I'm guessing if anyone has experience with this item the folks here might.

I recently ran into an Ott-lite at my local fabric store. The "natural light spectrum" line on the box caught my attention so I did some web searching.

The claim is that this low wattage bulbs (13 - 18 watts) replace traditional 75 - 150 watt bulbs with natural spectrum light. Meaning no more color distortion from incandescent or flourescent light. Since this time of year I am sewing until all hours of the night and the rest of the year I scrap my thought was this might be helpful as a task light.

But they aren't cheap so I'm wondering if anyone has one of these and what they think.

Thanks!
Deb

You can buy lightbulbs that do the same thing and a fraction of the cost. I put a GE Enrich bulb in my floor lamp...it is so nice to see which shade of white cardstock I grabbed!

I LOVE my OTT LIGHT. I don't typically use it for scrapbooking though. I do use it for sewing and cross-stitching and it makes a HUGE difference. My Mom has several that she uses when she quilts. I think if you need a lot of light in your room that you are working in then I would definitely use it. I have a LOT of light in my house, so don't need it as much.

Thanks for the input folks. My "craft" room where I sew and scrap is a converted bedroom behind the garage. Northeast exposure so by mid-afternoon the light in there is fading. My first thought was for the sewing, but couldn't help but see the connection to scrapping.

Ok, the website helped me make that connection! :p And I particularly liked the 365 degree swing arm feature. Hmm...maybe a Christmas idea for hubby?

This is a little late but I also have an Ott light. I love it. I had a lot of trouble in the winter months with shadows etc in the room where I scrap. I also had trouble with the lamp I was using getting too hot as I am in Florida. I have not regretted my Ott light purchase. I have read on other boards that they can be gotten with Joann's coupons also.

Ok, good to know that they are available at Joanne's. Now that can be a double bonus. They have a pretty hefty payback on our scrip program. Always looking for ways to stretch those dollars.
