I love my shareholder’s card! Firstly, it is just so important looking, gold and beautiful. With Mickey on it, no less!
But also because I used it for the first time today! What a lovely experience at the Disney store. I don’t collect pins but decided to buy a pin to celebrate my new shareholder’s card. I chose a Mulan one with a sword (limited edition I think) and the CM told me I could get another pin the same for free, to trade. OK, fair enough. Then she offered to trade me one of the pins on her lanyard for the one I just got, and I chose a lovely Cinderella ‘60th anniversary one’.
There was a spot of bother trying to figure out the code for my shareholder’s discount, the manager couldn’t find it on the till. I apologised for causing hassle but explained i was excited to use my card for the first time (it was only 70p after all) and he said “don’t be silly – this is your company now!" That felt great!
Anyway, I know it’s a bit of a random story but it was a little bit of Disney magic for me on this boring Tuesday afternoon so I thought I would share. And I’ve got two lovely new pins as well.

Have to admit, that shareholders card is my favourite bit of plastic :goodvibes. When pin trading started in the Disney stores in the UK I spent ages in the (small) store in Dundee chatting about pins and DLP with one of the CMs there - my sisters were looking at me like I'd gone daft - but I was happy :rotfl:!

You will just love it when you show it to get into Salon Mickey for the first time.

I don't know much about pins but building up a mini collection and hoping to do some trading on our next trip, just for fun. I think I have about 12 now, enough to pop on a lanyard!
I love that the two CMs I spoke to in Glasgow today were every inch as Disney-fied as CMs in the parks - I left the store feeling like a VIP and with a big grin on my face. :cloud9:

I know, that's what I was thinking! If I'm this happy buying a pin, how good will I feel knocking on the door of Salon Mickey, and getting discount in Blue Lagoon or the hotel boutique :wizard:
I seriously don't know if I can wait another 52 days, I want to be there now!

I know exactly how you feel. Our new Disney store in Swansea only opened late Aug, and I went in last weekend and used my card, and it was the first one they had done in the store and had to call the Manager out to do it! I felt really special, and had a lovely Disney chat with the CMs while waiting for the manager. :goodvibes

Can someone tell me the basics of the shareholder scheme? I know you get discounts etc but how many shares would I need to take out?

It's a lovely feeling, isn't it! I've always found the UK Store CMs to be just as lovely as the ones in the parks. :) I wish a branch would open in my home town, I'd be first in line begging for a job! :rotfl2:

I have to say Salon Mickey is something special with your Shareholders Card :cloud9:

There are other threads for this if you have a search sorry I'm on my phone just now so can't post link.
To qualify for the shareholders club you either need 20 shares or 5 shares plus a membership fee.
Most people buy 20, that's what I got. You renew your membership every two years and don't need to buy more shares.
For info on discounts see Disney corporate website (again apologies for no link but try googling Disneyland Paris shareholders club)

Lol! My sister is moving to Glasgow for uni next year and is determined to get a job in one of the two Disney stores. I'll be very jealous if she does
