Other Vacations

Even before we moved to Orlando, we were going to WDW nearly every year:) However, I was a travel agent for years so we got good deals on other vactions as well. DH has been to Spain and I have been to Ireland but we want to do a Europe trip soon. Probably London, Paris and Rome next. DH and I have been to:

Las Vegas
California (again in October)
Miami (twice)
Key West
Maine
Rhode Island
Maryland
NY (from there)
MA (DH from there)
VT
NJ
CT
Jamaica
Grand Cayman
Cozumel, Mexico
Playa del Carmen, Mexico (twice)
Cancun, Mexico
Turks and Caicos
Bahamas
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Royal Caribbean crusie (Mariner of the Seas)
Disney crusie (Wonder)

We are going to San Diego, Disneyland, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills/LA in October. Next September we have the 11 night Disney Wonder crusie planned. It goes to St. Thomas, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Barbados and Antigua! :cheer2:

Given unlimited funds, I'd go to WDW every year, but also somewhere else. After our WDW trip (10 days) DH's position is that we've seen and done everything Disney and don't need to do it again. (In fairness to him, we went to DL in CA in March of 2003, Disneyland Paris in March of 2004 and WDW in May of 2005.)

Our oldest child starts high school tomorrow, so there are really very few family vacations left. I wantto make sure the kids get to:

London
Italy
Germany/Switzerland/Holland
Washington, DC
NYC

I'd also like to take a trip to California that is half San Francisco and half Disneyland. I'd also like for us to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

Then there's Costa Rica. And Hawaii...

So many trips I want to take!

When it was just my dh and I we would go anywhere but now we mostly go to wdw. We have taken small trips since kids but our larger vacations have been wdw. This summer we took our kids to Atlanta for four days. We went to Six Flags Whitewater and Six Flags over Georgia theme park. I for one thought they both stunk, but I didn't say anything and tried to enjoy myself, which don't get me wrong, I had fun but the last time I was at Six Flags I was 15. I just kept thinking to myself how smaller it seems now and how the restrooms were nasty and that the overall park was just dirty and not well kept. Well, the next day on our trip home, my son said, " I had fun but next time lets just save our money and go back to wdw." "That place is small and they don't keep it very clean." After that I knew it wasn't just me. So, my revelation is that from now on for theme parks and amusement parks, we will only go to Disney.

We love Disney World, but we go other places too. We aren't on a WDW schedule...we just go when we want and can (wish I could go everytime I wanted!!!LOL) We enjoy it enough we keep coming back to it. WDW is our winter vacation destination.

But last summer we went on a 17 day car trip to Yellowstone...spent time in Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska as well (passed through other states, of course). Our hope is that next year we will do the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Utah!

We've been to other places - we especially enjoyed Williamsburg, VA and San Antonio, TX....we really like the family car trip.....my kids have always traveled great and they enjoy the ride as much as the destination. Both my kids have a goal of visiting every state before the finish college (at our expense, of course). Hubby & I have been to Alaska before they were born - 2 weeks in a pop-up camper! - and we will go to Hawaii one day....but my kids can wait and hit those two when they can pay for it themselves!!! :teeth:

We travel several times a year. I like to get Disney at least every two or three years.

The last several years we have been to:
Bonita Springs, Fl. every winter
Las Vegas every Spring and Fall
Northern Michigan every summer
Canada
England and Malta
The Grand Caymans, BVI, Jamaica, and Cozumel
Florida Keys
Washington DC
Wisconsin Dells
Colorado
New York
Boston
Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach
Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee
And lots of wonderful cruises--Lots of fun seeing the world especially the States. However, there is and will always be a special place in my heart for Disney.

We love WDW and have an amazing time there, but we do feel there is lots to see in this world. In addition to WDW and Florida, we have vacationed to Las Vegas, Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, cruises, a few Caribbean islands, Mexico and cruises for vacation. Next we are hoping to do Hawaii!

We just returned from our 4th WDW trip since 2002 and I have decided that we need to space them a little further apart.

As much as we love Disney and everything about it, I noticed my kids were really not as enthusiastic as the last trip when we had actually skipped a year. They knew which rides they liked(good thing) and they knew when the big drop in Splash mountain happens.....

I want them to forget about those details a bit and when we do return....be marveled once more at ow magic this place is. So for now a trip is in the works for dec 2006-begining of 2007.

We will probably enjoy visiting a couple of close places and the kids want to go to the Jersey shore and swim in the ocean....So it may be our plan for next year.

i love Disney, I just don't EVER want to feel the Been there done that..... So dreaming and anticipating will probably bring the magic back.

would live in Disneyworld if they would let me. My first trip in many years was in 2002 and DS and I went by ourselves this past March. We are planning our next trip for March of 2007 and I can see going every other year from now on. DH does not agree with me so this year we also went to St. Louis to see the Cardinals. Now I have 2 favorite vacation spots. I also love the beach and hopefully next summer DS, DH and I can manage a trip to Ft.Walton Beach, Florida, my favorite beach place. I also take an annual trip with my family, brothers, SILs, nieces and nephews, DS, cousin, my mother. We have rented a house at Dauphin Island, Alabama each year for the past 11 years. So, I guess I do get plenty of other vacation time in but if I had my way it would be WDW every year.

DH and I live for vacation! We both love WDW, but me moreso! So, I got to WDW every year. One year with DH for 12-16 days, the next year a week with my granddaughters. Works out perfectly for me. However, DH and I also take one other 2 wk vacation and then several long weekend trips as well. We love to pick one state and then spend two weeks traveling to as many tourist spots (natural or historical) as we can fit in. I've been to 26 states so far, as well as several Canadian provinces and 5 Carribbean Islands. DH wants to retire to FL in a few years, so we'll get to WDW much more often.

I ocassionally go to California.....Anaheim....... Disneyland :earboy2:

But seriously, I like going to Los Angeles area... Any of the FLA beaches, and I want to go to Las Vegas one day.

For me, I go to Nashville every year for CMA Fest/Fan Fair, I wish I could afford to go to WDW more often, in fact, next month is my first ever trip to DL, so I am still getting my Disney fix!

Although I love WDW I do enjoy going to other locations. I have been to most European countries and after this WDW holiday DH and I plan to go to other places. Firstly Australia (although I do plan a few days at Disneyland Hong Kong en route!), then we plan another USA holiday to tour some rollercoaster parks (although we do plan to start in Vegas as I love Vegas and end in DL as I have never been there). After this we would like to visit Egypt and do an African safari and then visit Thai Land (although DH said we could do Japan whilst we were on that holiday to complete the Disney parks!!) So I guess another visit to WDW is very far away after our next trip.

I LOVE WDW and would happily go back every year but unfortunately Hubby doesn't quite share my fanaticism with it so we do go to other places. My second most favourite place in the World is Cuba and we will be heading off there again in 9 weeks (can't wait). This year we have been very lucky - and rather spoiled - in the fact that we have been able to have 5 holidays; 4 days Disneyland Paris, 2 weeks Dominican Republic, 2 weeks Cuba and 2 short breaks in England. We have just returned from 4 days in Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare land) which was fascinating and beautiful. Beach, history or Disney, i love them all!!! ;)

We go other places throughout the year too. I go to WDW twice a year. We go skiing for a week or two someplace. We go to the ocean for a couple of weeks each summer. We also do numerous mini 3-5 day vacations during the year. I think last year I had an all time record of being away from my house for 3 months when I totalled up all my trip!

The only place I can get DH to go is Disney. My passion is the coast of Maine, but haven't been there in eons. Darn, I miss it!
My dream vacation is Greece.

we go other places also, my ideal time to go to disney is every couple yrs so something is always new

this was what happened to us also...so we waited 7 yrs to go back( longer than expected but things happend) and it was really magical again, not just so so.

I love Disney but there are so many other places I want to visit too!

Since we have a son we usually visit relatives in Alexandria, VA or Cleveland, OH. But my DH and I have visited many places in Europe and Asia, plus cruises. Would love to go on a Disney cruise!

Sigh...so many places and too little time and money! :confused3

I am the Disney nut in the family--my DH would never go for yearly vacations to WDW. We really can't afford to go on more than one big vacation each year. This year we did WDW in April (our big trip) and a couple of days at the beach in Maine. We love the beach so next year the whole family (parents, 5 sisters w/hubbies and kids) are planning a big reunion at Ocean City, Md. I'm hoping for a big discount either on airfare or dining to get in a short not-so-expensive trip to WDW, but realistically our next WDW vacation will probably be in 2007. Also we would love to go to the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, and on a cruise--so many places to go!!! ;)

Since we're blessed to live only 90 minutes from Disney, we're able to take other vacations combined with many, many weekend trips to Disney! So far we've gone to DisneyLand and on a Disney Cruise...!!!

This year, we went to Vegas which was about as different from Disney as you can get!
