Other Timeshares in Orlando

I am wondering if others that own DVC also own other timeshares that they trade into in the Orlando area. Situation is this, my son may be going down to work at Disney for a while. If he does, I will want to spend more time there than I have points with DVC and I do not wish to borrow points from as far as possible.

I called to see what the options were of trading into Orlando and a couple of places were available:

Hilton Grand Villa (near Sea World)
Cypress Pointe
Sheraton Vistana (have stayed there and was very pleased)
Orange Lake
Embassy at Lake Bryan was a choice of mine, due to location--not available at this moment.

Has anyone stayed at these that can recommend one over the other?

I know there is a site, I think TUG, where you can get information, but don't you have to be a member and pay the fee to get information?

Of all the resorts you have listed, the Hilton Grand is rated the nicest on the Tug board... it also has the largest villa's coincidentally... I'd definitely go with it (what kind of unit are you using to trade in?)

a 2-bedroom sleeps 6. The second person I talked to at RCI did say that I could trade into a 3 bedroom at a couple of these places. Location is a factor, too. The Embassy on Lake Bryan is closer to where we wish to be. HGVC seems to be about 10 minutes away. Not too far, but if you are making the trip a couple times a day that could get old. If it is really that much nicer, it might be worth it.

One thing you might want to consider is that there are a ton of timeshares in the Orlando area, so it is very easy to trade into, and not necessarily so desirable if you want to trade out. You might want to look into a cheap resale week with low maintainence fees and use it to trade into the Orlando area.

betslinc--

Sorry if I mislead, I already own a timeshare, in addition to my OKW and BCV points. I am trying to use my week to trade into Orlando and was offered a week at the locations I listed above. I am not that familiar with any of those locations, and was trying to get some feedback on the ones I was offered.

I think HGVC is nice enough that I WOULD travel back & forth if I had to... I think it is exactly a 15 minute drive from the BWV parking lot (that's with lights & everything)... it's not a busy drive either coming from that part of International Drive...

I've owned at Orange Lake for 12 years and visited often. Property is near AKL. ( Also own OKW, VB, BWV, HH, and BCV. ) The resort has nice pools, mini golf and fitness center. Tennis - and my husband says great golf. There is also a new shopping center just off the property with a Publix, Outback and TGIFridays. I think it is a 4 mile drive to the Disney entrance but I'm not really sure. We usually go to Seaworld and Busch Gardens from there and save Disney for on property stays.

I have only stayed at Vistana (we also own there) we loved it, nice big 2 bedroom that sleeps 8, grounds were wonderful. kind of like a self contained city. With your other timeshare, do you have RCI or II, if so, take a look at the bonus vacations, sometimes you can get a week without deposting time for as little as 199.00 a week.

RCI is what we have, but I have no problem in depositing our week, it doesn't always get used anyway. But thanks for the tip, I have seen the bonus weeks offered, but never taken advantage of them.

those bonus weeks are incredible, we also own 2 weeks in St. Maarten, a 3 bedroom penthouse, my inlaws are coming with us, I was able to get the room next door (very accidently) which is a 1 bedroom penthouse that rents for 700.00 a night, for $189.00 for the week!!!!! I just booked my sister to Williamsburg through II for 299.00 for the week, end of May, not a bad time to be down there! so if you have any other visits to make, its worth checking into.
