Does anyone collect other WDW/DL things that may someday lead to bankruptcy? I collect magnets from the parks, specifically the rubberized ones my collection is 50-75 right now.
We buy cell's from disney animation. It start with just one simple little cell. Then the next time we went my husband wanted another one but the one he wanted was no longer offered and was told of one coming out in a few months and he could preorder it and for just a little bit more receive a postcard with all the animators signature and just a bit more receive a pin. I figured what's the harm in one little cell, just a bit pricey but it is what he wanted and it would only be once a year. Little to my knowledge we now have 4. Now we are on their mailing list letting us know when new ones will be coming out. So it is no more only once a year thing.
I will collect just about anything Peter Pan or Villains provided it is well made and the characters look like they are suppossed to. Some merchandise is not well drawn or sculpted. I have a couple of cels, framed pin sets, WDCC figures, post cards, pins, a few buttons, some toys....
I'm an antenna topper collector. My husband would kill me if I ever tried pins. He doesn't know that I just spent $40 on eBay on 7 new antenna toppers...
I also collect Lion King cards, but I recently finished that collection. So I don't need to do anything but look at it now!
I collect way too many things. when I look around at this clutter I can't believe what I have spent in the past.
Disney items include
Pins
Snowglobes (I have about 60)
Mickey Statues,(little ones, I have about 200)
Antenna toppers (just started, I have 7)
Non Disney Items
Santa Claus Statues (I have over 2000. My area paper did a story on them about 4 years ago)
Hallmark Ornaments (used to buy all of them, now I stick to mostly Mickey)
Pets (all claimed to belong to my boys, but I feed and clean them)
4 cats
2 dogs
1 lop eared Rabbit
my boys all loved my Santa collections so they each started their own Christmas collections. I bought most of them and put them away most times after the holiday. It's fun to set them up but not one of my boys likes to clean up.
David has over 1000 Reindeer
Sean has over 1000 Snowmen
Christopher has over 700 Elves
Is that enough? Peggie
yikes! who DUSTS all those snowmen and reindeer????? LOL!
DH and I have a good collection of Christmas Ornaments (Hallmark, Grolier etc.) He has the star wars ones and mine are Disney. We scaled WAY back with hallmark (now we each only get one per year) and as for other Disney ornaments now we only buy one together at the DTD Xmas shop when we visit.
I also have a small collection of Disney Dolls that was an offshoot of my Barbie collecting days. I was well up over 100 dolls at one point (1995-96) but have since sold the bulk of them but held onto the disney ones. Same with beanie Babies. Unloaded most of the TY ones but kept most of the disney ones (esp the Holiday ones which decorate my stairwell during the holidays!)
As for other collections--DH has Coca Cola Santa banks as well as an entire collection of Tins and antique Crocks. The Crocks I let him sit out becuase they look cool. The tins we compromised on--I let him get out the Oreo ones at Christmas to decorate the Kitchen and that is IT!
My MIL got me hooked on Longaberger after giving me one when DH and I got engaged (had never even heard of them prior...). Now I own about 40 or so baskets. (doesnt seem that bad when I look at the numbers but I have a tendency to buy the BIG ones which add up very quickly!! LOL!)
Besides pins, I collect grey Eeyores and Disney antenna toppers. I also have a few "special" items representing the different parks; the castle is my particular favorite.
I'm glad i am not the only one with several antenna toppers (but just one antenna).
I collect watches, dolls, pins, WDCC, cels, and other sci-fi collectables. I was just looking for a specific Star Wars watch that I have (to wear next weekend at Disney-MGM Studios) and went crazy trying to find it thru all my boxes of "stuff." I have 12 SW watches alone. More Disney ones....
I can sell anyone who's interested about 365 Beanie Babies!!
Not interested?? I guess I'll save them for any future grandchildren I might have. Hope Disney pins have better longevity.
