Other than MK...what park for our 10 month old?

Its been awhile since I brought a little one to Disney World and now I'm planning my own little one's first trip when she will be about 10 1/2 months old. We are only doing 2 park days (Florida residents, just a short trip to get away for some Disney magic).

We are obviously doing MK but what should our second park be? I know she is still young but in your opinion, what do you think is a better choice?

Grandma and DH are leaning towards DS, but I'm an Epcot girl. Really not interested in AK yet with her.

Thank you!

I was going to say AK, because animals...and what kid doesn't like animals?
I think our 15 month old will likely go nuts about the animals.

I second that, but you can find things at any of the other 3 parks. I don't think you can go wrong.

On our first trip with DD, we visited MK and AK. AK is visually stimulating for a little one -- lots to see -- but markedly different style than the MK.

We went when my son was 11.5 months. We did all four parks but AK had the most for him other than MK (Tusker House, Lion King show, Triceratop Spin, slept thru safari, etc). Since he was tagging along with big sister we also did TSMM and H&V character lunch at HS and Living with the Land boat ride, Nemo/seas at Epcot, but I think AK was better for him.

When my daughter was the same age, I didn't want to do AK either. We took her to HS. Did H & V character breakfast, Little Mermaid show and Disney Junior show. We also did Epcot and she loved Nemo ride, turtle talk w/ crush & looking at the aquariums. We also took her on living w/ the land.

Wow, so many responses already! Thank you!

I really don't love AK. I understand the draw for a child...but I feel like there aren't a ton of shows or rides and just walking around. Without that, it just feels like a really nice zoo to me. And we have 2 zoos near our house we could go to. I guess I'm just not a fan lol, but when she's older, we will hit if for sure!

I'm an Epcot girl. I love it and could spend days there but DH isn't as big of a fan and I don't want her to end up just sitting in a stroller all day either. DS has at least 3 shows I know we'd go to and potentially 2 rides. Plus all the sights and characters.

I think both AK and Epcot are good.

When my daughter was 2 years old, we went to MK and Epcot, and the latter was surprisingly great! In terms of rides, MK still beats Epcot, but Epcot was really nice for the adults.. when she napped in her stroller, we would go check out the world showcase area (even watched the Canada film since you can enter with a stroller). There were a lot more indoor (air conditioned) areas for us to rest while she napped without feeling over crowded like at MK.

Our next trip in October, she will be 3.5, and we'll be doing MK and AK this time as I think she'll really love the animals, plus we just like to alternate our parks every so often. You can't go wrong with either.

My son was 10 months old for his first trip and I think his favorite was Epcot. That said, he was walking already and the reason Epcot worked so well for us was that there's lots of out of the way places where we could let him down to stretch his legs.

As much as I may like AK I wouldn't take a little one there in the summer - too hot!!

HS could be fun, but it's almost the complete opposite in terms of Epcot when it comes to places for them to explore on their own (especially with Streets of America closed).

Here's the thing - baby is really not going to care or remember so pick where YOU want to go. Kid'll just have fun along for the ride!!

AK has the Wildlife Express Train train my toddler (at the time, he is now 11 and still loves it) loved to ride.

Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom......however a 10 month old is really kinda young for any theme parks anywhere!

AKK

We did all the parks with my DD at that age and they were all awesome!!!

We went during Flower and Garden at Epcot- she loved the butterfly house! Also the shows in WS.

Bring her in a baby carrier so she can see everything really good, and you'll have a blast!

We took both our girls to WDW for their first trips around that age. It is a great age for a first trip. They like to look around and engage with you. With that being said, I think you should choose the park you (the adults) want to go to in addition to MK. She will enjoy any of the parks. There are things in all the parks that will appeal to her. Her focus will be more on spending time with you and just looking around at all the colors and people. With that being said my DDs really enjoyed Nemo at Epcot and the Mexico Boat ride at that age. They also liked the Disney Jr. show and TSMM at that age at DHS. My youngest loved characters at that age, but my oldest did not.

We went to all 4 parks, but our 10 month old most enjoyed MK and Epcot. The Seas Pavilion was a hit for us along with Living with the Land. He was a little too young to really appreciate the animals at AK and somehow fell asleep mid-safari?? Not sure how that happened. The Nemo musical was a no-go for us as he did not want to sit still for 40 minutes.

The Disney Junior show at DHS is just OK for that age group, and you may find the littlest ones will have trouble seeing over the older kids who want to stand up and play/dance during the show.

Honestly, I agree with others that at that age, enjoy what you can and be flexible. While the adults ride the big rides, catch a character M & G nearby.

I hate to say this because I am one of those people who believe there isn't an age too early to take kids to WDW, however, I don't think it will matter to your baby where you go at that age. I have a 14-month-old and I remember when she was 10 months old what she was developmentally into. The excitement for her was just not there, as far as animals go, because to her an exotic animal was no different than seeing a bird or a cat. However, I can see all the bright colors and patterns at animal Kingdom being very stimulating. Since that park is out, I think Hollywood studios would be your next best bet for entertaining baby. But honestly, at that age, baby just isn't going to care. Take the baby where you want to go and do what you want to do.
