Other Restaurants outside Disney

We are renting a house in the Oak Island Cove subdivision with all star vacation homes. I was wondering about restaurants nearby. We got a couple of TGIFriday and Red Lobster gift cards for Christmas. Also any grocery stores nearby?

Is that on the south side of WDW off 192? I know that area real well so if it is, I can help out a lot. I don't know much about the North or West sides of WDW though.

That's on the Formosa Gardens road, right? If so, you'll have a grocery store about 1 mile or so if you take a left on Rte. 192 (W. Irlo Bronson). There will be a Publix on the right just a little over a mile away near Orange Lake Resort. The name of the plaza is Orange Lake Town Center.

There are lots of restaurants on Rte. 192 not far from where you're staying - Houlihans, Sizzler, the Magic Mining Co, Colorado House of Beef, Perkins, Angel's Lobster Feast, etc (most offer discounts/coupons in the Orlando area magazines). I can't vouch for any of these since it will be my first trip in that area as well (we're staying one road over on Old Lake Wilson for our trip in a few days). Maybe someone else can help you with restaurant reviews.

There's a TGI's and a Red Lobster at the Formosa Gardens shopping center less than a mile from Oak Island Cove, so you won't have a problem spending your gift certificates!

There's also a 24 hour supermarket there - I think it's a Winn Dixie (it's changed hands several times), but we prefer the Publix which QT pooh mentions.

There are loads of chain restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but nothing to get overly excited about. Probably the best of the bunch is Carrabbas (Italian). They also do kerbside take-out - just phone half an hour or so before you want to collect.
