When it really comes down to it, would you change your reservations because of negative posts? If you have your mind set on one resort and keep reading negative posts, have you changed resorts? I'm just curious.

Personally, I would not change. I seem to take alot of reviews with a grain of salt. I know what we like, and in the end, its all about what we make of it.

I'm more likely to be swayed by "Positive" posts than negative ones...

I love reading great trip reports from DIS'ers - it always makes me want to stay there.

But negative comments don't bother me, you have to take them with a grain of salt.

Laura--that depends.

When someone say's "I didn't like that resort because it was too overrun with kids", that's commentary I'll pay attention to. When they say "I didn't like that resort because the beds were too hard" that's commentary I'll take note of, but it's such a subjective thing that it might be too soft for me (yeah, right LOL!). If I hear repeated complaints about dirty rooms at the same resort by a variety of posters, I'll take heed. If I hear one complaint about a dirty room I'll chock it up to a bad day for a housekeeper. If I hear repeated complaints about food or service in a restaurant, I'll take heed, but if I hear one complaint, I'll still try it.

No, I would not change my mind because of what other people say. There are a lot of negative people in the world & sometimes they are at WDW. We try and make the best out of any situation for our kids & our wallets sake.

I like finding out for myself. I take other's opinions into consideration, but just like with movies it's all a matter of opinion!

I have to read loads and loads of reviews of a resort and see some consistancy in the complaints. Usually I will not pay a lot of attention to complaints because you see them at every resort. You can tell some of the reviews have people complaining about things that would probably complain no matter where they stay. You can see some reviews where people are really wanting to like a place and they are hesitant to complain. Complaints about long walks, noisy pools, rude guests and CM's and such are not of interest to me because you can have those anywhere. I am interested in consistant reports of dirty, unkempt rooms, noise through the walls, saftey issues and such. I have had a rude CM and bad food at a restaurant at the hotel and I will go back becuase I like the hotel. It takes 3-4 bad stays fro me to really consider not going back.

I use a lot of different sources of info when I do planning and researching. Getting peoples opinions is just one method. However if someone says something that I think is worth researching further - thus to indicate a trend or a serious problem that may be an issue to me - I might change a plan because of that.

Those are my feelings exactly. It sometimes amazes me the things that people do complain about. I've read it all LOL from complaints about no towel animals right down to the resort not providing a birthday party!!! I guess all I expect is a clean, safe room. The resort theming is as diverse as each guest and I try to book according to my family's likes. This leaves less room for complaints.
