I hope this is the right place to post this request. We are travelling to Orlando from September 2-11, 2004. Reservations at the WL - AAA rate, praying for AP rate or some other Disney package to bring the room rate down, Anyway, My question is, since we are not currently looked into a package, has any one visited the Holy Land Experience or taken a day trip down to Daytona beach. If you have visit either place, please let me know if the trip is worth adding to our itininary, did you rent a car or hire a car, etc. We are looking for other ways to fill our days while viisiting Orlando. Well, of course we will be spending most of our time at Disney...::MinnieMo

I have not been to the the Holy Land experience but thought about going once or twice but it seemed quite expensive for what I percieved you would get to see there since it does not appear to be a large place.

There are lots of things to do outside of the parks in and around Orlando. I have yet to go to Daytona but we are going to head up there when we are there in July. We do have a rental car, really can't see any other way to get there.

If you do get a car, there are a lot of nice areas over near Tampa/St. Pete. The Florida aquarium in Tampa is really nice. It has been a few years since I have been there but it's not far from Ybor either. Granted, Ybor tends to be more for adults and more so in the evenings, but there is always something going on there in the Summer. If you have kids, there is also a movie theater in Ybor or there is also one near the aquarium.

There are lots of things to see in Orlando but doing a few of them can add. There is WonderWorks, Titanic Exhibit, Skull Kingdom and Old Town to name a few.

If you give a few more details on your group you may get some other ideas as well.

There is so much to do in Orlando you're spoilt for choice! There's Gatorland, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Hard Rock Vault, the water parks, airboat rides, hot air balloon rides, Aquatic Wonders boat tours. Then there's Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Kennedy Space Center.

Daytona beach makes for a nice break. Not a lot to do other than the beach, but it seems reasonably clean and worth a day trip.

JamieB/Cleo..thank you for your reply, our group consists of all adults, we will definately be heading to one of the beaches, either Daytona or Clearwater. We always plan a Universal trip but have not been to sea world since they added the additional amusement rides. We also would like to see downtown Orlando to check out some of the clubs and eaterys.

You should definitely revisit Seaworld in that case!
The Kraken is a really superb coaster, it is smooth, high (great view) yet does not shake you or fling you around like duelling dragons and the hulk (both great rides by the way).
Journey to Atlantis is brilliant, theres different ride elements coordinated in it and normally the queues aren't that bad.

Obviously there are things like wonderworks etc but you probably have been to them before!
