Another vote for Wacoal - find 'em at major Dept stores, where I also received a better fitting/measurement than I did at Victoria's Secret.

I'd try Lane Bryant again. That's where I get mine because I can try them on, VS tells me "Yeah we carry your size but never in stores'' and I won't bother buying one that I can't try on. Lane Bryant should also be able to measure you correctly or they have stand alone stores called Cacique (they're usually right next to LBs). I'd suggest going when you have time and patience and trying different styles on. Personally I'm a fan of the balconette.

My favorite bras are the Wacoal ones! I'm a 40DDD/F depending on the brand, and I've had my Wacoal bras for about 3 years. The only place that I absolutely hate bras from is Avenue. I have one from Playtex I think that is a no-wire and I've actually been pleasantly surprised - I got it at Wal-Mart.

WOW! That wonderbra thing... Mine would be up to my chin..lol!

I am going tonight to try some bras on I think. I hate going after a long week, but it is either tonight or Monday evening....

Here goes nothing.:lmao:

I think it's important for you to get a proper bra fitting first. Nordstroms is worth it. I am over an hr from one and drove there to get a bra fitting. My band size was too big and my cup size was too small. With that said, my most comfy bra (I am a 36DD) is Bali's passion for comfort underwire (make sure you get the underwire, the non-underwire is not comfy) series. It is made out of a very soft and smooth microfiber, and very comfy!

38 D here.. Victoria's Secret is the only way to get the right fit for me. I don't have much space in between the girls, so those full bra's don't get it. I prefer a push up or demi cup. They seem to fit better. I love Vicki's t shirt bra's for around the house, cool and comfortable.

LOL I thought the same thing about that wonderbra! Mine would turn into shoulder pads!

I wear Chantelle from Nordstroms. I was blessed as well and these are the best bras I have ever tried. They are expensive but they are very good quality and they hold the girls up:lmao: and the wire is comfortable.

Another vote for getting fitted at Nordstrom, and they have all kinds of "non-standard" sizes, esp for larger cups (34H here). Love the Wacoals, expensive but they last a LONG time (years). Never had a wire break.

Only problem I have with them they set off the metal detectors at the airport.

I know you mentioned trying the lane Bryant bras (cacique) and you didnt really like it. I have to say i have always had a really hard time finding a bra that fit right. Finally my mom of all people said to try Lane bryant and i have never a day worn anything but cacique brand bras! Maybe give them another shot, maybe a different style. They last forever and i cant find a more comfortable bra! hope you find something that works for you!

I also had the problem with the wire poking me in the side, and getting fitted at Nordstrom fixed it. I'd always thought I was a C, but it turns out I'm a D-DD (depending on brand)!

That being said, I now get all my bras from Soma, specifically the "vanishing back" variety. They're awesome and comfy and come in a front-hook style, too. Best Bras EVER.

Well.. I went to dillards, and the little girl at the register, had no idea how to "fit" me.. She told me I needed to come back, and so I guess I will.. I dont really wanna drive 1 and 1/2 hours one way for a bra fitting, but I may end up doing so. I guess if they last for a few years then it is worth it. I can not believe the overwhelming response, and I very curious to see how these other brands fit. I feel like I am almost penalized for living where we do, with so little to offer...

Thank you SOOOOO much for your help.:goodvibes

Well the bright side is if you can find a brand and style you really like, you could just order them online the next time.

i completely agree with getting fitted by someone who knows what they are doing. when I finally got into the right size, a lot of my back problems went away. as an added bonus, the girls look perkier and I look thinner! it was worth paying for a more expensive bra to feel better all day. it may take an investment of your time, but it will be worth it.

A few years ago my sister sent me a generous gift card to Soma and said they make the best bras ever. I was skeptical. Went online and measured myself - usually I've been told to wear a 36DD, I measured at a 40B. I ordered 3 and was amazed. I won't buy bras anywhere else now. They're super comfortable and the wire never gives me any heartache!

You should try to find place that caries this line

http://www.elomilingerie.com/

I did not like the Lane Bryant bras and I had a hard I time finding bras (after gaining weight)

The Asia bra is the single most comfortable bra I have ever worn in my life. Just make sure you get fit right. I measure for a 44 triple D but I wear just a D in this bra. So comfy!!!

Sorry, posted on the wrong thread...thought I'd opened the 'tips for women' thread instead. BLUSH

Here is a suggestion to the original poster, while I do not have your issue, quite the opposite, my oldest daughter is on the large size up there. She went to a local bridal dress store and was measured properly for a bra, now she is wearing the proper size bra for her size, I was told how to measure myself and found I was wearing to big a cup and went down from a C to a B and my how much more comfortable for me. Point being is if you can not find someone to measure you in one of the stores mentioned, you might try making an appointment in a bridal store or an upscale ladies dress shop, they certainly will measure you and sell you that first well fitting bra.

Good luck

Well... I was all set to go make the drive to Norstrom, when I must have been mistaken.. Because there isnt one where I thought any more. It is now a Macy's. I think what I am going to do is just have the lady at dillards measure me, and go from there. I guess, I will at least start there. I am very grateful for all the help, and I will probably try on a few of the recommendations from here. I am just excited to maybe get a chance to not hurt... Anyway, when I go into the Mall tomorow, I will let y'all have an update on what I decided.

Thanks ladies!
