Spinning off from the SAHM blues thread...

I hate working. There, I said it.

I'm just so burned out. I only see DD for a few hours a day. I can't imagine how nice it would be to look outside and see it pouring down rain and say, "It's awful out - I think we'll just stay home today." How nice would it be to do my grocery shopping at 10 AM instead of on my lunch hour or after work when everybody else is doing it? I'd love to be able to schedule appointments for any time of the day rather than when I can get off work. And I could do laundry at 2 PM instead of 9 PM. Just the freedom to make my own schedule - it would be awesome. Not to mention that if you're working mom, you have to look high and low before you can find activities for your kids because everything happens during the week.

I might feel differently if I had a job I liked, but I don't. It's a paycheck.

Thanks for letting me vent. :goodvibes

I work part-time evenings after DH gets home from work. So I do get to spend quite a bit of time with my DD's. But my oldest will be in first grade next year so working nights isn't going to work much longer. She would be in school all day and there would only be about an hour between when she gets home and when I had to leave for work. I totally get where you are coming from and I don't really like my job either especially now that we have a new manager and team lead. I'm hoping to make a career change next year. I want to be an assistant teacher so I can work the same schedule as my DD's.

It is strange you can't find activities though. I have the opposite problem. I need activities during the day (well afternoon now that DD has started Kindergarten) but almost everything is either in the evenings when I work or on Saturdays. I was able to find Friday afternoon swim lessons at the YMCA and Saturday morning dance classes at the same Y. But we looked into gymnastics and soccer for my other DD and I can't find classes that work around my work schedule.

I understand exactly were you are coming from.

I really enjoy my job, but the fact that I only get to spend a few hours with my son at night during the week and fix dinner, homework, etc during these hours too...is hard!

Big hugs to you!!!!
I just wanted to say thank you for your post. I am a stay at home mom and sometimes I think I take it for granted that I stay home. And I really shouldn't!!!

Thanks

OMG, I think we're twins. I couldn't have put it better myself. I hate my job, but really need the nice paycheck. I so wish I could be home when my kids get off the bus and listen to their day rather than running home and cooking dinner and yelling for them to do their homework, and throwing them in the shower and finally sitting down for the first time at 9:00pm!

My sentiments exactly! :thumbsup2 Throw in extra activities in there and it's makes for some real fun!

LOL - you got that right. My oldest started soccer last night so I dropped my younger ds off at my dad's. Soccer was over at almost 8:00pm and they hadn't even eaten dinner at that point yet :sad2: . By the way, I should've mentioned that my hubby works second shift (3:00pm 11:30pm) so it's just me with them every night.

It's just me shuttling the kids back and forth to their babysitter/activities as dad lives 2.5 hours away so he can't help so I feel your pain. My oldest is playing football right now and they practice every night from 6-8pm which means I get off work, run to the babysitters to get them, run home to pack up a cooler of drinks and get his uniform and pads on and back to the field. Practice never ends right on time so we are home by 8:30 and then we do dinner and they take a bath and go to bed to start it all over the next day. What I wouldn't give to not have to work and be able to stay home with them. That would be heaven. :cloud9:
