I was hoping perhaps some of the wonderful DIS'ers can help me come up with some ideas. For those of you that don't know, my dd was diagnosed with a very rare form of ovarian cancer last May. Her Dr. referred us to a wish granting organization and after being disappointed about not being able to go to Australia or New Zealand, she decided that she wanted an enclosed hot tub. Well the volunteers said as long as it wasn't new construction, like an addition on to our house it would be allowed. Well come to find out, the enclosure is not allowed at all. Please don't take it that we are not very gracious for this, but yet it puts us kind of in a predictament. My dd is very disappointed that the enclosure is not included as we live in Northern Ohio so they wouldn't allow her year round use as she wanted. We started pricing enclosures ourselves and are finding that the cheapest screened area that we are looking at is at least almost $1000 and for the enclosed one similiar to what she was thinking we're looking at literally thousands of dollars, like $5000. Well between the medications, dr. bills, trips to the Dr's and hospital (150 miles roundtrip), wear and tear on the car, etc. I just don't know that we will be able to pull off the enclosure. What really put salt in the wound so to speak is they sent us to a website to pick out one of two hot tubs and on the site it shows how this company is involved with this organization and how they gave a wish to another girl that included both the hot tub and the enclosure. Do any of you have ideas how we can create the magic for her within a reasonable amount? I don't know any carpenters and dh is not good with construction. We thought about that.........I'm also trying to see if we can't get any type of sheds that would be more cost effective but allow the proper ventilation. Pulling my hair out here....... :scared1: :confused3

How about the tub jacuzzi's. You could replace one of your tubs with it. My sister has one and loves it.

Thank you for that suggestion, but it won't work. We have a small old house with only one bathroom that is cramped as it is and with the way the old plumbing is there is no way that will work. Thank you though :)

Grrr....lost my post....

Retyping....but am not using full sentences to make it faster...

We live in Central Ohio and have a hot tub. No enclosure. It's perfect that way! It's great when it's cold outside or it's snowing and we're sitting in the cozy warm hot tub. Summer time it doesn't get used. The hot tub is at 104 degrees. When it feels like it's 100 degrees in the shade no one wants to go into a tub of hot water! :) so fall/winter/spring are the best times to use it. And we don't have a problem with it not being enclosed....unless you want to use it in a heavy rain. Sure, in the winter it's cold getting INTO the tub, and cool getting OUT (you're pretty warm from the tub so it's never cold on the way out) but that's usually brief.

My in laws recently moved and put up some sort of plastic construction enclosure for their hot tub. It was meant to be a garden shed. Has plastic sky lights and everything. It looks good, but they have a large hot tub and it makes it very very difficult to care for it (get the cover on and off, do maintenance/cleaning without actually getting IN the spa, etc) Plus when we were over there there was mositure just dripping from the walls. No idea what that will do over time (mold?) I know they put the thing together by themselves---kinda like a snap together thing. It was a challenge, but they did it. If you are interested in this I can find out what company they got it from....PM me if you want me to find out.

Sorry to hear about your dd. My MIL is battling ovarian cancer now. I had no idea it could show up in younger kids. God bless

A rubbermaid/ step II shed woulnd't have any rust problems. Saw some very large ones at a sam's club in Orlando. For ~1k there was even a playhouse one with dormers and window seats. Maybe a sam's club might donate the shed or a local organization?

I would call Sams Club in Old Brooklyn here in Cleveland, they have a Giant Cottage like another poster said. It looks like a little house and is plenty tall enough for adults. It is made of plastic like a kids playhouse is but is HUGE. It has two little doors and then a big set of barn type doors. It cost about $1500 I think. I would go there and talk to a manager about them donating one. Here is a link to "The Cottage" as its called: http://www.samsclub.com/eclub/main_...BV_EngineID=ccdeaddgkgdmijhcfkfcfkjdgoodflg.0
Good luck!
ps. My kids love playing in this thing at Sams Club.

*** They also sell Hot tubs at Sams Club... They have a Maui 4 person hot tub that would fit in the cottage for $2000. So the whole package would be under $4000. Some companys sell just the hot tub for that much.
