OT wisdom tooth extraction

I'm 25 and the dentist has told me I don't need to worry about it. I've been doing yearly x-rays for about 4 yrs now and never had them suggest it.
They're more concerned with trying to get me in braces, but I don't want to deal with pain and misery of it for the next couple of years. Plus I get canker sores so easily that I'd be in constant pain. No thank you.

My 18 year old son just had his removed last Friday. We would told the surgery would be about 30 minutes, but it wound up taking about an hour. His top ones came out fine, but the bottom ones had to be taken out in pieces. Luckily, there was no school Monday or Tuesday so he had an extra long weekend to recover. He was given Tylenol with Codeine and 5 days of an antibiotic. The Codeine did not agree with his stomach at all and he vomited quite a bit that first day (The surgeon said it was a combo of the blood he swallowed and the meds). By day 2, he was pretty swollen. He's still mildly swollen, but much better. Just remember to keep doing the warm salt water rinses!
